My biggest concern is what he will do to the health care system. I was really hoping to retire in 5 years, and I would need to be able to buy health insurance somewhere to make that possible. Insurance Co. going away?

It may well give us better polling in the future, but few will trust polls in the next cycle or two. though predictable, i don't think this is the right reaction. but if it comes to pass, sobeit.

Insurance Co. going away? Hubby and I both have pre-existing conditions that would allow insurance companies to refuse to sell us coverage once the ACA goes away. We are fine as long as I keep working, but it puts a damper on the early retirement plans.

DH got up early for a long day at the office. He's pretty sure the markets will stabilize in a couple days; they did after Brexit.
A Republican president was almost a guarantee. It's how we do things - each side gets a turn. Democrats have had the WH for the last 8 years. Regardless of what those of us here wanted, this was bound to happen. I just wish the Republican party could have given us a better choice. While not perfect, I would have been feeling a LOT better right now had it been Kasich that was running.
Roe V Wade and Obergfell won't be overturned. Unfortunately, neither will Citizens United. The balance of the court goes back to what it was before Scalia passed. Hopefully the next person is a bit more moderate. But either way, previous decisions aren't going to be automatically re-written. A new case has to be brought before the court, and a new ruling made. These things take years.
Stop and Frisk, the wall, etc. I have a hard time seeing those things actually implemented. S&F is unconstitutional, and the President wouldn't have much power to implement that in state police departments anyway.
I am worried about the ACA being repealed. I am worried about those I love being deported.
Regardless, I am a white, straight, Christian female with a good job in a safe part of town. My kids won't be too affected. DH's job will probably do better now. My industry may do better, at least for awhile. We will be ok. That's not the problem. My heart is hurting for those that won't.

Trump will do all he can to get the wall. We have been promised border security since Reagan's first amnesty and even if he can't get it done due to the Dem do nothing congress he has to give it his best shot.
S&F was ruled unconstitutional as applied. It is legal when applied as intended. i.e. In a fair and equal manner.

I don't worry about that under trump. Trump promised to erode abortion rights. He flipped on many of his long held opinions like pro-choice, gays meh, religion meh, just to get elected. He's going to have to put out if he wants another term.

Right now I am so flipping mad with the damn lying poll people and the lying media. We get only the shit they want us to know, NOT the real news. SCREW THEM! I don't think they lied. I'm wondering if when Trump was going on and on about the election being rigged, he meant by him or his side. Its not the first time he's done something and pretended it was the other person. I know the Democrats aren't willing to check, but I'd be suspicious of all in play state vote counts especially Florida and North Carolina.

Europe most likely. We have family there and everyone but me can have dual citizenship. Will you wait for your house to be completed? Sounds like a drastic move to me but I agree that if you aren't happy in the US that you should go to wherever makes you happy. Based on all of the threats before the election results, it sounds like you will have a lot of company!

I just hope that after all this he at least wins the popular vote. I will be a bit peeved if he doesn't. I actually hate our system. I think popular vote should determine the victor, not electorates. It is very disheartening to feel like your vote doesn't matter if your candidate doesn't carry the state (and mine usually doesn't).

We haven't decided our 'game plan' for want of a better term. We need to regroup and look at things. We need to finish that house and prep this one. I'm not sure what we will do. Sell, rent, just stay but remove ourselves from the grid, turn to full time advocacy. I'm not sure. Most of our family is in London right now, but they might not stay given Brexit. There must be some stone castle in Ireland that needs restored? Right?

I thought she won the popular... Isn't it official yet? I haven't heard that, yet. But if it is true, then I do think that sucks for the liberals. I hate our system and this just proves that there are problems with using electorates instead of counting each vote. And I believed that last time it happened and it was again my candidate that benefited.
ETA: nothing is final but as of now Hillary is ahead in the popular vote. Which just proves our system sucks.

Right now our aa is about 50:50, but I told DH I'm thinking of dialing it down to about 30:60:10 (equities, bonds, cash) Holding off putting a deposit on a trip next year. We are buying a travel trailer and may do camping trips instead of taking international trips. My bucket list may have to go on hold. Some friends who are retiring bought a 5th wheel and plan to winter in Mexico. They've invited us to join them.

God bless the USA! This country will be great again now that America has thumbed their nose at the lying corrupt media and lying corrupt politicians!! The country is now the laughing stock of the world. The nude photos of tne future FLOTUS will be everywhere. GG, the bolded IMO is no big deal. Europe won't give a crap about that and neither do I. Its the personality of the President elect that worries me. The Flotus will stay in the background and look pretty. I have no problems with that. Crazy Donald, is another thing entirely.

If I was making good money as a UNIX admin I'd be less worried than I am now. NJ doesn't have any section 8 openings as it is.
I wish my only worry was being nuked in the next four years.

I don't care about it either. She is gorgeous and was a professional model. I'm not sure how that has turned into something ugly.
What I don't get are the same women who are all about women's rights and lifting women up, are the same women knocking down Melania. I don't get it.
I also was offended by some things on my FB about Hillary and her looks...what the hell does that have to do with her as a candidate? I don't want her as my president but it has zero to do with her looks, what she wears or who she is married to.

Trump did a tremendous job, a great, beautiful job of appealing to closeted racism, xenophobia, sexism/misogyny, and nationalism of the white male American. From what I can see this is the "monster vote" Paul talked about, those disaffected that were part of the ~50% that normally don't vote. He gave enough of them hope that he can cure what ails them they decided to come out and vote for him.
We'll see what he can pull off. As a strong supporter of infrastructure improvements creating family wage jobs, I hope he runs with that. I'd much rather have deficit spending that enlarges the pool of tax payers than just wasting it in the ME being the world's policemen and all the blowback that will yield.
I'm hoping he can repatriate the ~$2trillion in corporate profits that have been offshored and that American companies are encouraged to put these funds to work, here.
But unfortunately, I feel that for many of the new voters that pumped Trump, things won't change much. They'll get older, more in debt, less able to compete as workers in the more globalized economy we have now and which will grow into the future. For them this may just turn into a disaster.
In the meantime I'm giving the guy the benefit of the doubt. I was not a Hillary supporter and think this will at least be interesting. Our wine tasting dinner club is meeting this Saturday. It was in early 2010 that I got in trouble by expressing my disappointment in Obama. People stood up, fingers were pointed, Seattle liberals were close to rioting on my ass. Should be fun!

We were screwed the moment the Democrats couldn't select a worthwhile candidate (many months BEFORE the convention, when the DNC had already decided the candidate would be Hillary).

update above. Nevada is tossup. Trump now needs to get CO or NH to lean his way. the tossup states are all REALLY close, btw. less than 1% in all four cases. you know me. if there is any margin at all, i call it "leaning". there isn't. i think the above numbers are good. this race is all about New Hampshire. if Clinton wins the state, and Hassan wins her Senate Seat, then i think Democrats control both the WH and the Senate. if i am wrong, however, they could lose both. so, watch NH. it will tell you what is going on in the election. if Clinton wins NH handily, she will probably carry most of the swing states, as well. Nate Silver would put this at 272:266, but i am not sure it will be that close. the weighted analysis shows 290:247, but that is an impossible split based on the map. if we are going STRICTLY off polling, here is the breakdown: Clinton is +1 in Florida. she is up in (9) of the last (14) polls, tied in (4), and down in (1). Clinton is +3 in NC. she is up in (8) of the last (10) polls, and down in (2) (both with the same pollster). Clinton is +0.1% in NV. Trump is up in (7) of the last (14) polls, down in (5) and tied in two. but the reason that Trump looks better here, is that the ONLY reason Clinton is up, is a wild outlier by IPSOS, which shows her +12%. Trump is +2% in ME2. he leads in (5) of the last (7) polls, is tied in one, and trails in one. so, on a polls only basis, Trump gets (7) if we delete the outlier, and give him NV. totals: Clinton 316:222 this actually makes the most sense given her lead, as well- but what makes it far more "interesting" is how badly Clinton was TRENDING up until a few days ago. the TRENDING alone accounts for the following, according to Silver: Florida -1.8 ME - 3 NC - 1.8 NV - 1.8 THIS is why Silver gives Trump all of these states. and he is usually right. so it is best not to doubt him. ever. but even without these adjustments, i don't see how NC goes to Trump. so, if we give Silver his trend analysis and use the polling averages, we get: Clinton 287: Trump 251i might have more to say on this later today. we should get quite a bit of polling in today. edit: i forgot to add the spread and odds in. Clinton 2:1 to win, and wins by 2-4% edit: if i were to go with something on the EV, i would go with the last number i listed. there is no way she gets more than 323 or less than 272, unless the polling is wildly off. edit2: i should probably add that IF Trump wins, it will likely be by a very small margin. states like Colorado and Michigan are not really that close right now. it would take a 3-4% swing in the polls by tomorrow (including in states that have already voted) to change things in those. i should also add that there is considerable speculation about Nevada, which is difficult to survey, and has been biased toward Trump all year. the money is on Clinton winning it, but Silver is not. if Clinton wins Nevada, it is really over for Trump, but it is one of the last states to vote, so we won't know until late. one final note. i won't be around. you guys have fun. i am flying out at 6AM tomorrow. I am truly sorry I have not been around for this thread. dj, you did an excellent analysis of this election and this post represented an accurate portrayal of the data you used. You even nailed it, if you were wrong on your original thesis. You as well as everyone else missed the rust belt states. I give you a ![](http://syonidv.hodginsmedia.com/vsmileys/thumbsup.png) on Trump's 251 count. All the talking heads had him much lower and Hillary even up over 330. Even Fox News on Tuesday night was trying to lower Trump expectations for their viewers. They even though he was dead on arrival. Incidently, I had them both at 269, only because I did not know which way it would go, and I wanted it to be settled in the House ![](http://images.proboards.com/new/cool.png) Yeh, that was guess and a prayer........
