Rae - how long will you have to keep those hours?
Drama - I'm just relieved he's not working under the table there. As I am sure you know, restaurant work can lead to some serious and expensive injuries.
As far as the tips go, traditionally they are supposed to go to employees, not owners. In fact, it used to be considered bad form, even insulting, to tip the owners. So I'm just sitting here, SMH at how cheap they are.

It's going. I work from 330-630am, get the kids ready then go to court. Work through lunch and come home. After my 30-45 minute commute I'm a zombie and have been going to bed with dd at 7pm. I told dh I feel like I have mono and he said he thinks this is just what 40 feels like. Are you on the jury? Yep. Wasn't opinionated enough.

so, my husband resigned from his job (30 days from now) without a backup.
And I'm OK with it.
Toxic environment and an untouchable coworker who a lazy ass.
He's going to miss the patients.

Wow, I am sure he will get another job, but aren't you in a small town? I am thinking he was working at a Hospital? Is that right?
How is your position going? You are on your own right...so what are your plans for Health Insurance?
Good for Him - putting an end to a toxic situation. If they get rid of the problem employee will he stay?

If the environment is toxic and you can pay the bills on your own then why not. Life is too short to be miserable. And if he's in the medical field, he'll always be able to find another job.

raeoflyte - Going to bed at 7p means you're getting about 8 hours of sleep. That sounds like a good plan to me, though I know it sucks not to have the time with the family.
swamp - 30 days is a long time. Even without a plan, does he have an idea of what he wants to do next? I think it's great that you guys are in a spot where you can be supportive of this.

Apply for another job? He's going to look into other hospitals, part time retail, other clinical state positions, and online positions. We're also considering him staying home and being my house bitch.

My DH tried the SAHD when kid #3 was born (others were age 2 and 3). He lasted 2 months.

Swamp's kids are older though. It's a lot different with 10-14 year olds than toddlers.

swamp A house bitch sounds like a swell idea. Guess who gets to take the kids to doctor/dentist appointments, whatever practice/lessons, cook dinner, do laundry. If I were younger and had a husband, I'd be jealous.

Lol. A surgeon friend had a 2 year not within 50 miles of any location in which the facility operated... meaning not just the hospital but any clinic or satellite practice. She left the state.

My DH did start a business and was somewhat flexible time wise. But I felt way more parent stress when my kids were 10-14 than when they were young. When they are babies they need more care, but when they start to get near teen years they start to get into things with more impact on their adult life.

DH has an in person interview next week and a phone interview. Not getting my hopes up because what is the point? At least he's up to 32 hours this week but who knows what next week will bring.
Then I am so strung out here at work. For whatever God forsaken reason they chose RIGHT NOW to make everyone cross train. I'm up to my eyeballs in extra testing, PCR is drowning and the other tech is doing a unauthorized project for a vet tech that wants to play scientist (which we never should have agreed to but that's another tale for another day). So now things are taking 3x as long and, at least in my case, mistakes are increasing because I am trying to split my attention too many ways.
And naturally this provides the two senior people with more opportunities to point out everything us other three do wrong. It wouldn't be so bad if I was told "You do a good job at extra testing but we noticed you're lacking over here, we know you are busy but here is what we would like to do to improve that". Nope, NOTHING I do is correct. If it is I sure as hell ain't hearing about it. .
Then on my review despite going above and beyond last summer with extra testing I got an "average". Corporate also now wants supervisors and managers to deliberately find at least two things wrong with your performance so you can "grow and improve". Which in theory I don't mind because you shouldn't become stagnant, but when I am spending all day getting lectured about things like staple placement on a report I REALLY don't appreciate that now even my review is going to remind me how much I suck.
I got testy yesterday after being taken to task over something minor. I said it's not that I am refusing to do it or can't do it, it's I have all these requests over here that I am actually the only one who CAN do them. Which one of those would you like me to drop? I am so tempted to lag behind on my extra testing and when prompted by the sales people about why am I not doing it say "Well it was decided I needed to focus on all these minor tasks and staple placement first".
Between that, helping DH look for jobs, making phone calls crying poor to see if we can get some our bills adjusted, balancing our checkbook, being a parent and working two jobs myself (yes it's only one day a week but still it counts) I am about ready to start throwing things and screaming bloody murder.

NomoreDramaQ1015 So what you're saying is enough is more than enough? If what it takes is lagging behind on extra testing and then responding to complaints with "Well it was decided I needed to focus on all these minor tasks and staple placement first," then do that. Once when my mother got fed up, she picked up a spoon and threw it across the room. It slid under the fridge. It was never seen again. Once when my kids were all teens and being especially stupid and annoying at the dinner table, I picked up a bowl of spaghetti, threw it at a wall, took my car keys and left. They called the cops. Cops told them since I hadn't hurt any of them, best thing to do would be to clean up the mess, including the spaghetti dangling off the light fixture over the table, before I came home. Sometimes a tantrum is the only thing there is to do to express your extreme displeasure about a situation. I recommend a tantrum only be thrown in the privacy of your own home.

That would NOT fly here and I am pretty sure I would get written up for that one. If DH wasn't unemployed and if he made six figures I'd consider it because if it came back on me 3 x 3 I could walk. It's not worth the risk right now to push back.
So I swallow/eat my feelings about everything right now.

so DH is already looking at jobs.
I really don't care if he takes a break. Actually, I encourage it.
Although there is an online job that he could do in his underwear. I'm OK with that.
