a chili cheese, foot-long hot dog from Sonic Dive-In. We have a Sonic not far from the house, but I've never been there. I'm saving myself for vacation right now. I don't crave a lot of things, but I do want a lobster roll while I am away. I prefer it hot, with toasted buns. Coming our way??

So you got a turkey sandwich and charged for the good stuff you didn't get? Screw that. You need some red velvet cheesecake! Yes, I do! I was going to make some brownies last night. But then the roommate took forever and a day in the kitchen. I had planned on popping them in the oven while I was working. I finally shut down my laptop at 730 so no brownie sundae for me last night.

But, any lobster really worth it's roll is in Maine. I fear ear the places you list sell lobsta rolls. Oh, and I, too, will be in the vicinity of several of those places I the next couple of weeks although my usual territory is in Massachusetts. Going to Hershey Park?

No, no Hershey Park - we will only be in Lancaster overnight. I've been fortunate to visit Maine (Portland and environs) and just loved it! I bought a jacket there (it was cold in August!!!!!!!!!) and I still have it. I consider it one of the best souvenirs of a trip ever. FYI - we will be in Boston next year - late April/early May is the plan. And you can get lobster along the east coast - it's Maine lobster, of course. Like any other snowbird, it travels south in winter to keep us happy.

Now I'm craving a real praline. Guess I will have to drive to New Orleans to get one. See ya'll Hey, does that "Kick it up a notch" guy have restaurants there...Emeril Lagasse?...I'm there. And I like it spicy, but not "kill your taste buds" spicy. I know he did at one time cause we ate there. But that was before Katrina hit so don't know if he reopened. It wasn't anything special considering the price. I'm a kinda hole in the wall place to eat person. Half the time just spot a place and give it a try. Can't even tell you the names half the time, well except for my favorite breakfast place and they had the audacity to close Enjoy you time though. Love that city.

Now I'm craving a real praline. Guess I will have to drive to New Orleans to get one. See ya'll bring me one back!!! Sorry CL. About 40 miles from home my car started pulling violently to the left and rather than risk breaking down decided to pull into Casino parking lot. I heard this faint voice calling to me "come play with me" so after the money jumped out of my hand and slid into slot machine I knew good things were about to happen. Parlayed $100 into $1,525. Just glad it wasn't on one pull. I hate paying tax on winnings. But if I do make it back to NO anytime soon I will bring back the pralines - not sharing my money

we should chat....I've found some great deals for staying in town. the other thing you could do too, is stay just outside of town but on the T. it's not that difficult of a transit system to navigate if you're not a complete rookie. and you've travelled, so I know you aren't a complete rookie.

We will not have a car for this trip. Use of the mass transit system will be essential. We've used mass transit in every city we've visited, and of course, I grew up with it. We're also both physically mobile, so distance walking is not an issue. It will only be a four-day trip, so the closer to downtown, the better. Getting to and from Logan is a consideration as well. A hotel with its own airport shuttle would be nice, but I don't consider not having one a dealbreaker.

Speaking of cravings...even the Pope has his: ...Pope Francis may as well be renamed Pope Foodie: The leader of the Catholic Church has a well documented penchant for good food and drink, beyond specially blended coffee. The Pope — who is an honorary sommelier — is a fan of wine and has publicly stated, "Without wine, there's no party." He is also partial to ice cream, dulce de leche cakes, and risotto... www.eater.com/2015/9/16/9336941/pope-francis-master-coffee-taster-special-blend-us-tour?ref=yfpI knew I liked this guy. He better have some La Colombe while he's in town!

I want anything that will satisfy me for longer than a couple of hours. I keep Special K fudge brownies in the freezer when I have a brownie attack. I actually made brownies last week. The mix was 48 cents with the coupon. Couldn't pass it up. I need to find my recipe for cherry brownies. I can remember most of it but not all of it. I might have had one Slurpee in my lifetime. Way too much sugar for a reduced calorie diet. My DH thought he'd get me an orange julius something while visiting a new big mall that I'd never been to. I nearly ran away when I saw the 1/4 cup of sugar poured in with the orange juice. I did taste it; but that's it. The Catch 22. These men want to feed the skinny girls everything. But they better stay a size 6 or less. Edit: Chili Cheese Dogs homemade are a regular meal for my DH. I'll eat some of the chili but that's all. That's my go to meal for drop in company.

Hey, does that "Kick it up a notch" guy have restaurants there...Emeril Lagasse?...I'm there. And I like it spicy, but not "kill your taste buds" spicy. He owns three restaurants there. All of them are quite good, I am told. He does not cook at any of his restaurants regularly (frankly, the man no longer has to work behind the stove, given the money he makes at other ventures, such as TV, personal appearances, cookbooks, cookware) but has been known to stop by all his restaurants. I'm not a fan of his whole schtick, but I'll give him this: he is a huge contributor to charitable causes, campaigns heavily for making fresh food available in poor neighborhoods, and was one of the very few restaurant owners who continued to pay his staff when Katrina demolished the city and closed everything. He did not want to lose his people, so he paid them to stay and work and rebuild. Most of them did. They are good. I've been to NOLA's.....twice. While it was a fairly expensive meal, it was well worth it. I'd go back again if in the area.

You might want to be careful to avoid Patriot Day weekend. The marathon is run this weekend and the city is a mess. I want to say it is the third Monday? In April. It has been awhile.

Speaking of Slurpees, there was a gas station in San Antonio that had strawberry Slurpees. They were made with puréed strawberries, and when you finished, there were still seeds in the bottom of your cup.
i miss that place.

And I cannot qualify based on the times for my age group. But to look at hotel prices after the marathon (we're thinking last week of April - first week of May) you'd think the race was still in town.

Never done it, but it does sound like an outstanding idea for a party.
