For my coffee maker at home. After more than a decade of faithful, daily, service - my coffee maker is giving up the ghost. It's taking longer and longer to brew - DH thinks there's hard water deposits (we've always had softened water) or something. Yes, he's run vinegar through but not much improvement. We've been through a lot together, master's class papers, IRS audit responses, a brief period of abandonment during my pregnancy with DD. You name it, that little appliance has been there for me through thick and thin. *SOB*

Time for Keurig 2.0 We have that at work. I'm not a fan, to the point where I have my own coffee pot at work (with permission from office services). Yes, I'm a major coffee snob.

I cleaned up my coffee maker and packed it away. I've given up coffee and gone back to tea.

I hate that Keurig thing. And any other machine like it. To me, the "coffee" produced in those contraptions tastes like water with brown crayon dipped in it. Sign me up as a coffee snob too. And FWIW, Chicago does have some great roasters in town. We finally finished our stash from the trip.

I hope you can get a good replacement quickly. Ummm, I actually have my old one from my last job in the basement at home as a backup (Krups). It does a decent job but not as good as my current one (Cuisinart). I also have a spare glass pot in case we ever managed to break the pot on my current one. THAT is the extent of my coffee affliction! I'll look at Amazon during lunch and see what's trending in terms of reviews now.

Captain - my condolences too. FWIW, I get it. And I agree that the Keurig has too many quality and environmental/waste issues.
Look at the Cook's Illustrated recommendations. Often their "picks" are not cheap, but they are really excellent products. Amazon usually shows *somewhere* which items are CI picks. I have NEVER been sorry following the Cook's Illustrated recommendations.
RIP old friend

You're not the first to lose your loyal friend.
I lost mine 2 yrs ago after a very long relationship. I didn't replace my loyal friend with a fancy-schmantzy Keurig - I found a new (and loyal) new morning companion that was almost identical to the deceased and it's been tried & true.

Just don't get this one, it sucks. www.walmart.com/ip/Mr.-Coffee-12-Cup-Programmable-Coffee-Maker-JWX23WM/20564692I've had it since Oct and if I had known that it beeps when it's done brewing AND when it shuts itself off, I'd have left it in the store. Annoying. Aside from the annoyance factor that little knob on the bottom of the brew basket that lets you pull the pot out to get a cup before it's done is losing contact with the pot below. Now it's holding water. But only sometimes. I bought it in October.

I've got an el-cheapo Proctor-Silex 12 cup programmable coffee maker. I think I paid around $35 or so for it - this one's lasted me (so far) just over 2½ yrs. The one before it was almost identical (same brand/style) - and it was loyal for over 6 yrs.
If yours is slow-dripping, the coil that heats the water might be shot - or about ready to die. The water isn't heating up enough to start flowing into the filter receptacle.
