My pupster Mason sure does sleep with me. He almost always lays right up next to me. Sorry for him, because I'm a major tosser and turner. I always said the next dog I had I wanted a lap dog. I can't get much more lap dog than him. He loves to sit or lay in my lap all the time. Even when we are outside - he will look around and watch things, but it's usually from my lap. I'm not complaining though. My last dog before him was a beagle. She was an absolute sweetie, but she never did like getting up on furniture or the bed. Every once in a while if we were away from home and my folks would come and feed her, etc. they would catch her laying on the couch or chair. Even after the ex and I split up, I tried to let her sleep on the bed and she didn't want to. She would lean up against your leg while you were sitting, or lay up against the bed. Probably for the best, because she sure did a lot of shedding. Mason is a Bichon Frise, so doesn't shed at all. I'm a major tosser & turner too. Just wondering for those that toss & turn, do you lose bed space during the night? It seems that every time I move whatever gap I create is take & it ends up that I have no room. We have a king size bed & it's very rare for me to wake up with more than about 10 inches of bed. Several mornings I have found myself holding on to my dresser (right beside the bed) to keep from being pushed off the bed. Yep; I know that one too well. Many times I wake up with one feet and a butt cheek hanging off the bed and anymore I would be on the floor. What I hate is when I peek over at DW side it is wide open because the dog is cuddling up to her an she is cuddling up to me: so here we are scrambled in less than 1/2 the bed space and the other 1/2 is left empty while I am hanging on trying not to fall on the floor.

Cawiau many years ago we had a dachshund that LOVED to be warm. Because of that she always slept by me (I'm hotter than my wife). Well one morning I woke up & had an odd shaky feeling (like the bed was shaking). I opened my eyes & realize that my left palm was planted on the floor & my elbow was locked & that was what was holding me on the bed. I have no idea how long I was like that or that I had held myself off the floor but it was long enough that muscle fatigue had set in. I tried raising hell over that (& not having enough bed in general) & well, the wife reacted just about the same as the dachshunds (what does that mean to me?). Karma is a bitch though. Now we have 4. The "queen" sleeps in the middle. Nobody disturbs her (she even growls at us if she doesn't know who it is). Our 2 boys have always been together (even before we got them from the pound) & one of them is totally dedicated to my wife, so BOTH of them sleep with her. Only the puppy sleeps with me. On cold nights my wife generally gets the queen over there on her side & with 3 of them around her she can't move. She complains & I just smile.

DS had a cat that he allowed in his bed, but I kept her out of my room, off the kitchen counters and the dining room table. No Cat hair in my bed or food! No, but we only have fish right now. At least fish wouldn't shed, and the keeping you awake by flopping around wouldn't last that long either

Toy poodle and I share my bed. Recently she does the rounds to check on the girls and sleeps with them for a couple of hours. She also goes to sleep with one of them when I get up to get ready for work and they are still in bed. I got a small poodle specifically because she was small and wouldn't shed. My parents make their shedding machine, I mean dog, stay downstairs in the kitchen when everyone goes to bed. That dog is so social, the whole time he was there he would follow me around and lay at my feet wherever I sat down. I would at least let him have a bed on the floor next to my bed. My Baby Dog Honey, a poodle, died April 22 and I am still
Honey is not replaceable so I do not intend to try. She had Cushing Disease, had been ill for a couple of years, and although she had the best VET care and home care the disease is progressive.
I'm sorry for your loss. I went through this about 2 weeks after my BF of 14½ yrs committed suicide, a few years ago. For me, the website Petloss.com was a saving factor. Lots of good info and links plus other people that are, or have been through the same thing. A chat as well as a forum etc. Maybe it will help you. My last ferret slept between the pillows, with me. My current ferret doesn't like to snuggle at all.

Dothead-my condolences. While I cannot remember the exact quote I read years ago, it's seems true to me. The quote went something along the lines of 'the best way to honor your beloved pet who has passed on is to take in another of his brothers or sisters (when you are ready) who too needs a loving home Your beloved pet would not want you to be alone'.

dothedd- sorry for your loss.
Our Dalmatian Holly slept in bed with us for years. So we so demanding. She would stand by the bed and nudge me until I lifted up the covers for her to crawl in at the foot of the bed. By the middle of the night she'd be in the middle between DH and I hogging both pillows. When we moved into a new house she decided she liked the Boy better so she'd sleep at the foot of his bed. After we got Holly her own dog she'd only sleep next to her so we got them side by side kennels.
Holly has passed and one night Zoe curled up on the living room sofa and refused to budge at bedtime. So we left her be. I think the floor of her kennel was too painful on her Lab hips and she needed to move around more frequently. Now we typically catch her sleeping outside our bedroom door. Had to put a blanket out there for her because DH would set his folded clothes for the next day outside our door so he wouldn't wake me up when he got up. Zoe would unfold his clothes and spread them out so she could sleep on them.

Have a good day, d Gosh darn it! I swear, anniversaries are SO hard! I just had one August 10th. I hope you're doing okay. Even though they make it hard, in some ways, I'm glad you have such fond memories of her. No doubt Honey has gone to the Rainbow Bridge, and will be there waiting for you, when the time is right. Even though you'll always, always miss her and have an empty spot in your heart, slowly but surely, and bit by bit, the good times she brought to you will come to your memory, with more of the happiness that they once were. And gratefully, with less of the pain you're feeling now. Keep her memory alive in your thoughts and in your heart. Pay tribute to her, by remembering, and feeling the joy that she brought you. If she were here, she'd be encouraging you to do something besides feeling bad and crying. That's still what she wants for you. Now, more than ever. If you didn't love her so much, it wouldn't hurt so bad. Ironic, isn't it? Sadly, there are times, love does hurt♥.

Both of my girls (cats) sleep with me. My hubby works nights, so we're only sleeping in the bed together once or twice a week & it's a HUGE issue for my girls. During the spring/summer, my Miss Tip sleeps at my feet on the left side & my Miss O sleeps in the middle of the bed (in hubby's spot) on my right side. Miss O will lay down on hubby's face to try & get him to get out of "her" spot. When that doesn't work, she usually picks a fight with Miss T & takes that spot until hubby gets up. In the fall/winter they both fight for the same spot. The way I sleep on my pillows, there's a little cave/hole between the pillow I sleep on & the one I throw my arm on. It's generally Miss O's spot and she really buries herself in there & ends up almost under my pillow. Miss Tip will sleep on hubby's pillows on the other side of me & I'll throw a small blanket that she buries herself in. If Miss O gets up for any reason, Miss T moves into the hole. When Miss O returns, they fight (at my head). They will race to see who can get into the spot first when I start wrapping it up at night to go to bed. If Miss T wins the battle, then Miss O crawls under the covers & sleeps against my legs. If Miss O wins & it's hubby's day off, then Miss Tip will sleep on him to annoy him into waking up & moving out of "her" spot. And I still have no idea why everyone says my cats are spoiled & demanding....LOL

Pretty funny Steff! I can see it now.... But don't worry, they're not spoiled. Not at all.
