Do you pay some bills online? Some by check? Some in cash or in person? Automatic withdrawal? A mixture of all of the above?

I'm a mix.
-anything reporting to credit bureaus (mtg, CC) has a payment automatically withdrawn - the minimum pmt rounded up to the next $25.
-utilities are done online from checking, manually when the bill comes in (but usually paid every other month because I am that lazy)
-anything else, snowballs and windfalls, gets done online periodically.
-annual stuff like Direct Buy membership is by check. just got that bill yesterday, actually.

I don't send any checks any more. I pay all of my bills on-line either by going to the credit card site and paying it there, or by using my bank's bill pay system.

I hate writing checks! The only things I write checks for are my rent, mechanic when I owe him something, and once-in-a-while stuff like the dentist if I had a filling & had a balance that wasn't covered by insurance. Otherwise - credit cards are paid online, cell phone is paid over the phone via debit, cable usually paid in person with debit, car insurance automatically withdrawn, student loan paid online, YMCA membership automatically withdrawn, utilities paid online.

I pay most things online. Regular monthly bills go straight to the bank - I just logon, view bill, and authorize payment.
The only regular payment that I write a check for is child care. I got new checks after I got married 8/2009, and just wrote out #49.

I seem to write a lot of checks ... charitable giving, gardener, pool guy, Spider Guy, weed service, insurance premiums, and then regular bills: power, cable, phone, etc.

Most of the reoccuring bills get paid online through my credit union's bill pay service. But I still write quite a few checks by hand: church, guy who takes care of the grass; Krogers (to buy gift cards to use at Krogers so that a percentage of the money I spend there goes to my church) and auctions (for inventory for my "antiques" businesss) and the occasional repair person. I prefer to have cash when I have a planned shopping trip, but will write checks if I didn't stop to get the cash ahead of time.

A lot of my stuff I pay online. The only monthly bill I don't pay online is my electric because my company charges you $4.95 to make a payment through their website.
For paying for items when I am in a store/service place, I usually use my debit card. But I will still write a check for a place like the mechanics and doctor/dentist office.

I only write one check a month and that is for my mortgage. All other routine bills are paid by online bill pay either through the vendor's site or my bank's site and automatic withdrawal.

Insurance is 'automatically' withdrawn. Makes me mad though, because they NEVER take it out when they are supposed to!
Everything else I pay online except rent.
My Rent is paid in cash to the landlady, she gives me a receipt though.

EVERYTHING is paid on line now including the gardeners, spa guys, and handymen.
Molly I just set up individual vendors in my bill pay system and they are now paid automatically.
I wish we had more arrangements for direct transfer into bank accounts like we have here in Germany. Then there would be no issues with mail or lost checks. USAA does it and my tenants who have credit Unions can as well.

Most bills autopay - some against checking and some to a CC.. I go online to pay CC, Mortgage, and HOA. Nothing gets mailed anymore. We write the cleaning lady a check which she picks up when she works.

Mainly by check ... still like the idea of writing that check and knowing the balance is going down.

On line bill pay from bank account (mortgage, utilities, insurance, credit card, insurance etc). I don't use the auto pay, I would feel so out of control of my account (even though I would have to set it up) and don't set up any payments to auto debit from my account. The only regular bills I write checks are local newspaper subscription and lawn mowing service. Occasionally I have home maintenance/repairs that I have to write checks. I try to pay everything possible with the credit card.

Almost all bills are paid online.
One charitable contribution is paid by the credit union's bill pay service.
A few local bills are paid by check which is dropped off at the office. I hate paying postage to send a check to an office less than a mile from home.
The cell phone bill is paid by auto-pay to the rewards CC.
Writing checks doesn't make debts go down. You can keep track on paper or Excel. Writing checks and sending them in the mail costs you a check, stamp and sometimes an envelope.

I pay all bills electronically. I do use checks for gifts and for school fundraisers and stuff like that.

All online except for rent -- it's a small building so they're not set up for credit cards or online payments. A few of my utilities get paid with a credit card. Mileage!

I'm antique!!!!!!!!!!!!
I do NO banking on line! I do NO bill paying on line! My info may be out there, but I didn't put it out there!
I carry very little cash, usually between $5-$20. I write checks for everything and they all go in my check register and it is updated each time I write a check or the end of the day. I don't have problems knowing how much I have in the bank!!! NO over spending!!! I do make CC purchases for vehicle gas and large purchases & internet purchases. These are paid in full monthly (by check)!
My checks are free anyway and I also have an interest bearing acct (VERY tiny interest) so there aren't any fees for writing the checks!

I usually do not pay cash or in person. If I pay in person I use a c.c. where I can. I have 3 organizations that I write checks for membership. I tried bill pay and all that did was cause confusion.
I put on a rewards credit card anything that I can. I use the website to renew vehicle registrations and use a c.c.
The majority are paid with bill pay online where they send the check. I need to set up a new b.p. for a regular donation I make.
I have an automatic monthly saving transfer from checking.
With all of these transactions, I have already made more income from not using one stamp and envelope than I get in interest on any savings.
Remember to pick up those pennies.

Our property management charges $33 to pay by credit/debit and $10 to pay by eCheck, so I still pay the rent by hand-delivered paper check, or a money order the month they lost the check. I usually tithe by check as well, although we do have electronic options.
Life, renter's, and auto insurance are all automatic, but I pay everything else through online bill pay.

House payment is done over phone. We have a checking account but no checks only a debit card(can NOT be used as credit) and every utility does not accept debit/credit here so they get paid with cash. In person ALWAYS get a paid in full receipt.

All monthly recurring bills are paid on automatic payment except bimonthly water bill (county wants something ridiculous like $15 to pay electronically, and bill is only around $34.oo. I pay mortgage online that I input each month, and when I prepay mortgage I write a check so I can put principal prepayment only in the memo line. HOA, dentist, doctors, etc. are usually paid with check. Once in a while other non usual stuff is paid by check, but not much.

I only write checks for my bills. I went through the ACH and electronic double and triple charge nightmare once. It took 3 months to get it straightened up. Never again. Plus, I refuse to pay for electronically billed services.
Isn't the basic idea to keep as much of your savings as you can? I refuse to do online banking as well.
Motherto2, I also refuse to pay $15.00 charges. I can buy lunches for a week with $15.00.

All of my bills are paid online through my bank's bill-pay system. All I need is an address and they send the paper check. But I have very few on automatic; I have run into some problems there but it's always been the bank's problem and I got them straightened out quickly!
My auto insurance is automatic but that was the way the insurance company wanted it. No twenty-five or fifty dollar extra charge. My other bills would love for me to do them automatic but I like being in control! ;D

i think the only regular repetitive bill I pay by check is our water bill because they charge an online fee. Everything else is paid online. Just about every thing is done online or with the debit card. I seldom have cash on me either. Helps keep the vending machine habit under control since we done have vending machines that take cards.
