I can't think of a movie right now, but The Americans has me rooting for the Russian spies, lol. Boardwalk Empire did the same for the bootleggers.
Do you buy "fancy" cheeses? If so, what was your most recent purchase?

oh now that's got a good laugh from me. Thanks for that Apple! I get my cheese from the grocery store! packaged. doubtful that qualifies as 'fancy' are self help books actually helpful?

Depends on the book. I used one, 30-Day Sobriety Solution, to dry myself out. It helped me immensely and I have not had a drink in whatever the # of days it is now. I would love some fancy cheeses but Yancy's Fancy champagne cheddar is about as fancy as I get. DH needed an MRI but it didn't happen because of vertigo. Have you ever had to have a medical test cancelled and did the doctor try something else? It's on hold until he sees the neurologist next week. They wouldn't listen when I said to smother him with a pillow.

Answer: not that I can remember to cancel a medical procedure and try something else. though I am sure my mom has plenty of times for plenty of reasons? Comment: here's a good one I recently heard about Question: is raising a pet good practice for raising a child?

I think raising a pet is good practice for raising a child. (We have an eleven month old puppy at this time) Paying attention to their needs and wants, keeping them safe, teaching them manners (potty training, good manners, schedules). It's not everything, but, yes, I do believe it can be a good base. ETA: It also teaches/keeps responsibility and patience. And, like a child, doesn't judge and gives with no expectation of return, love. What was the worst piece of advise you received personally, and did you follow it (at that time)?

Answer: I think it has been 2 years? maybe 3 years? since my best friend and I stopped contacting each other. I have been getting bad advise, worst advise often! LOL most of the time I don't follow it. but sometimes I do, or when I do. it is just to make sure it is bad advise. no issues. people just don't know me as she did. Question: have you phased out using items that are no longer in service? thinks like VCR tapes, land line phones, roller skates, ECT.?

We phased out the land line. We still have a working VCR and tapes so that's moot. I am also not allowed on roller-skates due to the fact that I broke my ankle last time I wore them. Kind of like I refuse to do the Hokey Pokey since I got punched in the mouth when my sister put her left arm out and into my mouth. My mother's idea of good advice was to not marry DH because of the MS. Helpful, real helpful, Ma. Obviously I did not listen to her. Any of those phased-out products that you would like to see make a comeback? Or a more wide-spread one than just an accidental find on eBay or something? I would like an electric typewriter again. A computer is handy and all but sometimes the typing sound from a typewriter just makes me feel more productive.

Comments: ya know what! you make a good point on the typewriter. the sound is unique! back in college! OH MAN! me and my word processor were a tight team. Answer: I would answer a come back for Video Game Arcades. Space Invaders, Pac-Man, others. Question: is there a possibility that you actually have something in your attic, basement, or garage that could be worth something if sold at an auction?

Possibly. I don't have the patience (or time) to research stuff like that, though.
When you've left a volunteer position, job, whatever, was it sudden, or did you do all you could to prepare your successor?

My decision to quit my last job was sudden. Walked in on Monday and said sorry this is short notice but Wednesday is my last day. Turns out I only worked till 11 am Tuesday since we decided to evacuate for pending hurricane. But I knew this was coming so I had been typing up all the little things that we did for clients and some of the things that the employee already there was going to get stuck with. She later called me and thanked me for that info.
Do you call in sick to work or just show up half dead?

I work overnights. I'm generally half dead anyway. I usually show up unless I'm throwing up. Then I stay home because I live in another state from where I work and I am not puking across state lines. Thanks but no thanks. Or if I'm hacking up a lung. I'm not customers are going to want to hear that when they call out of oil in the middle of a blizzard, bitching all the way because they didn't keep an eye on their oil tank. Have you ever called out for someone, or yourself, when in the ER or doc office and get asked if you'll be in anyway? I had to call DH out because he was in the ER for a kidney stone and doped up pretty good on morphine. Moron manager asked if he'd be in later that night. Really lady? He's stoned. He's going nowhere.

I didn't call out, b/c I am self-employed, but a client texted me while I was in the ER for my asthma earlier this year. Stupid me, still barely moving oxygen, I stopped by the office after I was released to take care of her client's need before I went home. Turned out the client ended up not coming over to my agency anyway. NEVER again will I put my client's needs before my health. Oh, and a different client texted me that same day. She wanted to know when I'd be available so she could come in to pay my bill. She could give a rat's where I was or how I was doing. Looking forward to Autumn and the time change?

Definitely looking forward to autumn, with cooler weather and hopefully no more smoke! I wish we could just pick a time and stick with it though.
Working on any projects lately?

projects? decluttering. that actually includes finishing up an almost-done cross stitch that got packed up when I listed the condo for sale at least 4 years ago. oops... do you have to follow something through to completion before starting another project? or do you have a number of half-finished projects to split your time?

Half completed. And I do not know why I do that to myself. However, as mentioned on the decluttering thread, I *am* working on finishing up the various lists I have going. Do you have a regular schedule for laundry/grocery shopping/chores/etc. or just do them as necessary/when you feel like it/have time?

as needed. I do try to hit the grocery store either before 9am on weekends, or on weekday mornings when I'm home. my Market Basket is insane.
when you have reached your breaking point with someone, are you bitchy to them, ignore them completely, or something else?

Being an Aquarius, I am a queen of the silent treatment. We are known for being icy cold. Kinda like the, "You're dead to me" way of thinking. Do you think you're "in touch with your feelings"?

Not really. I get along with most everyone, and these days I'm in more of a pick your battles mindset. I decided life is too short and stuff like politics really don't matter in the end. What's up this weekend?

I got some free fabric from someone on a "free-cycle" type website (some was from Africa, so not stuff you'd find in the stores). Other than that, it's mostly a "lounge-around-in-pjs weekend" since the smoke is still too heavy to do much.
What is one item on your bucket list?

sorry! I have to make a bucket list. I have not seen the movie either. Question: which was your best decade; age 20 to 29 or age 30 to 39 or age 40 to 49?

Well, I sitting here trying to decide how to answer ZaireinHD question but have to say there was good in all of them and can I add good in 50's, 60's and so far 70's!! I'm not dead yet My 40's and 50's were wild and wooley since I was pushing 40 when I got divorced I settled down a bit in my 60's though.
Do you have a decade that you would just as soon forget?

I'll say the 90's maybe? If only from a relationship standpoint. Poor choices. When you receive a text/email/voice mail that doesn't sit well with you, do you react immediately, or contemplate your response, (if you choose to respond at all)?

Yes. And it's here, sort of. 40's overnight. Yesterday was the first day in months we opened upstairs windows for a cross-breeze in lieu of running the noisy AC unit. Do you go for "the changing of the colors" drives?
