Summer is flying by. Yep, bears. When is the last time you did something nice for someone?

everyday! from giving a compliment, to saying thank you so much. I so very appreciate your efforts, to seeing someone with their hands full and hold the door open or press that elevator button.
are you a browsing kind of in store shopper or know what you want, get it, and out the door kind of shopper?

Depends on what it is. Groceries I religiously stick to a list. If it's using a clothing gift card, then I take my time unless I actually need something like a replacement for something in my wardrobe.
When is the last time you did something nice for yourself?

I bought myself a "new" sewing machine a few weeks ago If you have a goal that takes multiple steps/stages, or a lot of time/effort to reach, what is your preferred reward system for keeping yourself on track?

Excellent question. Because I get bored easy, I tell myself to do X amount of unpacking boxes/do whatever it is until X 'o'clock/get that one stack of X done, and then I can eat/play a round of Words With Friends/watch a DVR'd program/whatever. It seems to work. Ever arrive at work and have transients set up behind the building? Guess why I'm asking.

Ugh! I've worked behind a gate, and then the addition of a guard, since 2000, so not that I can remember! How did things turn out?

I don't know if the internet is an activity but it sure is time wasting
Oh Iggy's note my question is: If you are approached by someone on street asking for money, cigs, etc how do you reply?
Iggy aka IG I left to go to lunch one day and couldn't open door (this was old building converted to office) I looked out the window and there was a man passed out in front of the door. I found out later that the Rescue Mission was around the corner from where I was working (downtown)

I'm mostly heartless, so "I don't carry cash", "I don't smoke", etc. That said, we had a local bum who had been here as long as I can remember (age 5 or so?). He never bothered anyone, just picked up cans for the deposit so he could buy some alcohol. One time I was behind him at check out and he was just shy of being able to pay for a can of "Old E". So, I handed the cashier the money and paid for it. Years later, I saw him trying to feed a dollar bill into a lottery ticket machine, but the machine kept refusing it. As I walked by, I handed him a crisp dollar bill. He died a couple years ago and I kind of miss seeing him around.
Do you start conversations with random people when you are standing in a line?

Yes, I quit my horrible job without another to go to, but I have enough saved to do it. (BTW, I have a new PT job starting next week). As wonderful a saver as each of you are, do you ever sit down and take a look at your spending/saving strategies and revamp them?

A record player ....... and I have some records to go with it. The player isn't really that old, about 25 years, but a couple of my LPs are from high school days ............ 1959.
Is autumn in sight in your area yet? ....... Summer is wearing me down

Depends on what it is. If it's for personal use, I plug in the amount into an excel spreadsheet and toss it. If it's for business, I do the same then file it for tax purposes.
When is the last time you unplugged? Like, really took time away from ALL electronic devices?

Back in 1995 when I got my first PC and went online. Internet junkie of the highest order. Haven't been unplugged since then. How many electronic devices do you have now?

BLT-Avocado with mayo.
Are you a dog owner, and if so, do you have any advice about a rescue? I'm weighing a shelter vs. a rescue organization.

I don't have a dog right now, but I grew up with dogs, and had one until she died a couple years ago. I got her from a shelter where she was dropped off after being found as a stray. I like that the place I got her from has the shelter, but also "fosters" dogs, so they can get an idea of how the dog handles kids, other dogs, a house, etc. I was warned she was incredibly stubborn. And to always have a toy on hand because she wanted to chew everything. But, she did great with other animals and kids. Oh, and she was lazy.
Everything was true except the lazy part! She was for the first couple weeks, but once she knew she was home, her spark and constant movement really came out. I have no idea what kind of life she had beforehand, but it may have included some abuse. I was getting an orange extension cord out of the shed, probably a year after I got her, and when she saw it she cowered and wimpered.
Anyway, as for which to go with, I'd probably be ok with either. All animals have their quirks, but they might have much different personalities due to past histories, and different issues to work on. That doesn't mean they aren't great dogs, just need a little (ok, sometimes a lot!) extra work.
Hopefully the place you use will be honest about the animal. Some places try to hide the problems an animal has. I prefer them to be honest, even with the bad stuff, because then I know what I'm getting into. Try to find one with behaviors that fit your lifestyle. I was ok with her being lazy, but when she was less so, I was ok with that too. It will take both of you some time to adjust. There will probably be "accidents" in the house until you can read the dog's cues. Or until it is comfortable in your home.
If you get a heavy chewer/toy destroyer, I cannot recommend West Paw Designs Discs enough! They are indestructible.
Good luck!
So, after that wall of text...
What is one of the most beautiful places you have lived/visited?

Where I'm at right now. Compared to the 4 states I've lived, the 26+ states and 3 countries I've traveled, the High Country wins in my book hands down. Do students go back to school where you live earlier than when you went to school? We resumed the school year the day after labor day. The locals returned today.

We went back after Labor Day. I think my county went back on the August 8th.
Are there any year round schoos were you live? "They" are experimenting with it here.

Some of them, yes. There is at least one "big" one that I have never seen, but I've been pretty close to it a few times.
Anything good happen this week?

yes, I took a couple much-needed days off to bum around with my sister. we got some decent sushi, trashed my kitchen, and found a new hobby - paddleboarding. I'll be looking at sales this coming offseason, and renting a board a few more times before fall settles in.
have you tried anything new lately? what was it, and would you try it again?

Yes. I enjoyed (ATV) sand dunes in a new location while on vacation and would most definitely do so again. They are huge-some several hundred feet high and must be ridden with respect.
When is the last time something made you mouth-dry, nervous/scared? I rode down a steep mountain Saturday, and though I've done that particular trail before, it nearly made be vomit.

the last time I was scared or nervous was August 16 2017! I was walking up to the VP office at work to pitch a job title change for me. As I got closer and closer to his office. I could see he was in the office and reading the screen. I got right next to his open door! and kept on walking! LOL are there movies were you hope the bad guys wins?
