Wait until you hit the fabulous 50s. The weight won't budge.

Have you tried switching up your workout routine? Yes and no. Although the times and general type of exercise I do have been fairly consistent, the workouts within that context change each day. Pretty sure the constant changing of the workouts is still getting results because I do continue to grow stronger and am often sore, just wish the result was faster weight loss. Running has always been a fantastic way for me to melt pounds, but as I get older, I have to balance injury risk with potential gains. Maybe time to risk the injuries in exchange for the weight loss. Time to up the miles?

In order to assist I thought I might share my time-tested height/weight ratio with you ladies. That way you will know the proper height to grow.
Weight should equal 100 lbs + 5 lbs per inch of height over 5'0". Someone may even want to turn this into a business by supplying the women of the world with an appropriate chart to reference.

Without controlling for frame, muscle mass, etc., this does pretty much parallel the BMI chart...

The kids were playing basketball at the bus stop and one of the kids called another kid "short" and he said "No I'm not, I'm fun-sized!" ROFL!

Time to up the miles? I used to run before I injured myself having DS. I've really packed on the pounds since. Have you tried swimming? That burns calories!

IDK where you got that figure from hoops but I look emaciated at 135. According to hoops, I should weigh 120. I haven't seen that since I was about 14. Even when I was in top shape and on the swim team in college, the lightest I've been was 140.

DH is smart enough to keep this secret, but I think he likes me better at around 125/130 than he did at 115. At 115, I had no boobs and you could definitely see my ribs. At 125/130, I'm still slim but have a nice chest. Good balance.
Only 5 pounds to get back to that point... so maybe running it is.
The weird thing is that at 115, clothes just hung better on me but I was not strong at all and didn't think I looked as good naked. At 125/130, I have to be more selective of the clothes fitting correctly, but am really strong and think I look better naked. There really is no perfect weight and I'm not going to worry about it. I just feel best at 125/130, so that's where I like to stay.

I have lost about 80 pounds in the last year. What is working for me is: 1. Proper mental health medication so that I can function enough to get some physical activity in my life. (Watch the Wellbutrin, I believe it is one of the class of medications that can cause you to become diabetic - and it is NOT reversible! I find the 6% risk way too high, since my DH died from the complications of that disease.) 2. Substitution of healthier foods for those less healthy. I like frozen things, so I have started eating sorbet rather than ice cream, or I eat a cheaper, less calorie dense version. I snack on fruit rather than crackers. I have modified what I eat over the last year or so, and I chose to do it one thing at a time. I started with breakfast and having a banana or other fruit versus toast or something else. Did that for a while and then started on lunch, dinner, snacks. After a while you really do start to crave healthier foods and make better choices. It is a process. My goal each day is over 50% of my calories from plant matter and to reduce animal protein consumption. And, while I allow myself the ability to eat anything (women need their chocolate!) I do try not to purchase much junk. Grocery store 30+ miles away means that if I want junk food, then I have to bake. 3. Intentionally doing things to sweat. For me, I just can't get myself to do things like go walking, unless I am hiking at the lake or something like that, so I work on my yard. I have raked nearly 2 acres with the leaf rake in the last couple weeks. Yard looks amazing and my body is shrinking. The dog appreciates less sticks to poke her feet when she is running after the ball. My hope is that in 3 years when DS is done with school, then I will either have a good job here and stay or I will have a fabulous looking property to put on the market! When I am not losing, then I make the effort to do more physical work and that seems to move the scale along nicely. I have been overweight all my life. I have never been able to sustain weight loss in the past, and right now things are going amazingly well. I honestly do think that having stable emotions, via medication, is a huge help for me. I also think you have to really want to lose it and have goals where the fat isn't possible. For me, that is the small plane I want to ride in over the mountains in AK and the plane I hope to be able to jump out of at some point in my life!

I am 5" 1 1/2' so should weight 107.5 or about what I was around 4th grade I would guess. I would be very happy to weight 125 or even 135 and two inches taller.
The trouble is at 64 I am more likely to get shorter than taller so may need to get under 100lbs but hoop's suggestion was for everyone to be over 5 feet tall.

I lost my period, hair started falling out and I had no energy when I got this low. I'm healthiest about 15-20 lbs over this.

I was talking to Crone and her projection that she might actually shrink. This is my nightmare. No way in heck can I maintain good weight/height balance at any shorter height than I am now.

Absolutely awesome Shasta. I've been blown away at my weight gain/lack of weight gain after being diagnosed as having Gestational Diabetes and switching my diet accordingly. It hasn't been huge changes - cut out regular soda, changed my snack to healthier/lower carb options, and limit portions of high carb foods. I've only gained 2 pounds in the last 6 weeks (I am pregnant so I am trying to gain a little/maintain) after gaining almost 20 pounds the previous 6 weeks. I get 2-3 carbs for breakfast, 1-2 for morning snack, 3-4 for lunch, 1-2 for afternoon snack, 3 for supper, and 1 for evening snack. I love ice cream, so instead of buying a container, I buy get little ice cream novelty items that are prepackaged as 1 carb for my evening snack. THe only things I feel deprived about is popcorn and regular Mt. Dew. If I ever have to go on a diet again (which since I'm not quite 31, I'm sure there will be some point in my life when I will need to), I will start with my GD diet and go from there. ;D I limited/counted calories last year with only limited success. Moderating carbs has been much easier.

My current goal is -100 at DS's graduation this June. Then I will have "before" and "after" photos to compare. I don't really feel that different but I am always amazed when I lug around some dog food or something and realize I have lost multiple bags of it, that I can't even lift at one time!

My scale is based on what I'm attracted to. Those under 5'0" aren't considered given that I would never date someone that short being 6'6" myself. It also only applies to women. Though to be clear, all women should strive to make themselves attractive in my eyes!

Hoops, are you not a fan of boobies? At those weights, most women are going to be pretty lean, including the chest. Is that amount of leanness worth the tradeoff? Please share. Edited to add: I'm just giving you grief, Hoops. No need to get yourself into that mess. Just like DH who is wise enough to say that I'm perfect just how I am no matter what weight I am, this is a subject you may want to refrain from expounding on.

I like boobies, but I'm definitely more drawn to "athletic" looking types. I have separate standards for chests which are not really ratios but just a minimum. And since she won't be reading this, I'll disclose that my wife is 5'7", 130, 32D. I also have tended historically to date fairly tall girls since I'm tall. So "my" height/weight ratio tends to be more generous in comparison to the BMI chart as women get taller. But yes, if I had to choose, I'd tend toward "lean" if it meant some kind of leanness/boobie reverse correlation.
