LOL - I have a similiar rule.
Last year we told the kids they could pick out "x" number of pieces of candy, which no one could eat but them, and the rest went into a community bucket which the family shared. I was proud that my kids didn't touch their separated candy until the family bucket was drained. Good logic, smart thinking. I like it!

MY DD sorts through hers when she gets home and gives everything she doesn't like to her older brother who doesn't ToT anymore. She even has her younger brother doing the same.

Mommy gets the Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. Sounds pretty fair to me.

My stepkids have aged out of trick or treating, and I'm sad. I loved to rummage through their bags and take the good stuff! Not ALL of the good stuff, just some of the good stuff.

DS was convinced he didn't like PB cups (no idea why), and niether did his friends. So after they went TOT they all pulled them out and gave them to us moms.
Unfortunately, last year they discovered they liked them. But they still have to share as payment for the adult supervision while TOT.

My father always went through our bags & selected what he wanted to test to make sure they weren't poisoned. For some reason he always suspected the Snickers

I think I ate the last Reese's cup yesterday out of the Halloween candy. Think I will move onto something else today.....

I bought Almond Snickers that I have decided will not be handed out. They are so damn good & I don't think the kids will appreciate them the way I will.

Some one left a "sharing size" bag of peanut butter M&M's on my desk this morning. Sharing Size- they obviously haven't met me. Those damn things didn't make it through the morning.

The girls are too old to trick or treat. So we bought a bag each of snickers, reese's, and kit kats. We're going to watch movies and eat candy this evening.

What are these Almond Snickers of which you speak? They rock. It was the first time I've tried them.

Shame on every single on of you! As good YM'ers, you should have gobs of money saved up and buy your own candy, instead of "testing" your kids' treats. Oh, wait, never mind. You need to save that five bucks and invest it, so that in 20 years you will have enough to send the kids to private universities without having to take out loans that will sink your retirement faster than the Titanic. I don't know whether to consider you all in the bad parent or good YM'er category.

Hmmm, I guess I'm the only one who will go buy what I like, saying it's for ToT, when it NEVER is? I'm ok with that.

I get the Hershey bars, DH gets the Snickers. No in-fighting between Mom & Dad here! Now that our kids are too old to trick-or-treat, we buy the bags with our favorites, and save 'em for last. Obviously, we don't want a lot of kids at the door! ;D

We live way out, so I bought the good stuff. I know the kids next door will be by, and maybe one or two other families: a lot of people take their kids to the wealthier parts of town, so I'm not sure if we'll see many 'neighborhood' children. Is it a neighborhood if you have to drive between houses because they're so far apart?

Yes! I'll be up early for the 1/2 priced merchandise too! The pumpkin cutters got bent, so I'll get those & candy at 1/2 price.
