Mom's in her 80s, and we were on the phone, so between those two things, stuff gets lost in translation. And speaking of the Cheesepedia....I just got an idea for a new thread. Good--because I did too, but don't really have time to start it on my lunch (half)hour...

Sorry...my bad. And no, I don't think so. It happens with every move. You're just bound to forget something, and not realize it until weeks or months later.

Every time I check in, yet another EE-ism.
But no, you guys don't have your own secret little language going on here. It is perfectly reasonable to make up words and acronyms and then expect everyone to magically understand them. And sure, you will tell people if they ask - but first you will berate them - basically calling them stupid. I wonder how many people don't bother to ask, for some unknown reason.

You got an attitude out of me for 2 reasons:
1. I believe you're being deliberately obtuse and obnoxious just for your own amusement. You've shown repeatedly how little you like EErs, yet you keep coming here.
2. I wonder if you've ever heard of using context to decipher what a word means or is supposed to mean.

Why don't you take your shirts off and let me be the judge of that? WHOAH! I must have been channeling just about EVERY guy here for a second, there. LOL, Beer! I thought you were just looking for an excuse to remove your shirt. Pfft. Like you need one.

Thyme - seriously....keep checking in. You'll find that most of what's said around here is in reference to something that was said last week or last month or even last year. When I first came to the boards (many years ago on the original YM), I lurked more than posted and picked up a lot. I still lurk a lot, but I'm familiar with a lot of the older references just from reading and won't hesitate to jump in.
As an example - once smurf (or WTS) runs it's course, it probably won't get mentioned again for many months. Then all of a sudden - BAM - there it'll be and the new posters with wonder what the heck we're talking about. And then you'll be in the know (if you've been keeping up with the posts in the past week that is).

Thyme, I've read you for years. You are not stupid so I'm calling b.s. Why don't you just read us more often so you get the silliness of what we say. You know you want to and you know you love us.

Actually, in the last month, I have worked very hard to come here and participate with an open mind. I know that EE will be the only active part of this board as time progresses and I wanted to be part of the community.
I'm a pretty intelligent person and can usually reason my way through stuff, but generally people use accepted words and phrases. Maybe this is the "jargon" portion of this board, and you are right - I probably could figure out "stabby" even if there are 14 other words you could use instead that everyone knows and can look up in the dictionary and I did figure that WTE was probably some bastardization of WTH or WTF - but I thought maybe, just maybe, it actually stood for something and I would ask and find out that there is actually some common internet phrase out there that I didn't know. But instead, I got jokes about testicals.
I'm sorry that I asked. I do, however, believe there are people out there that are afraid to ask, because you call them names and exclude them.

Yeah....I keep meaning to change my name.....I don't like it - it's hard to type out. I think I'll just start changing it like Rick's been doing. ;-)

It's initials for the poster NotQuiteThereYet I just had a flash back when we were all on YM years ago and Thyme asked what a POM was and why we used emotes and what did they mean. Good times. I was so impressed when she started using them too. And Thyme, when I came to EE it took me two pages before I realized they were talking to me. On YM I was always called Peace or Peaceof Mind. LMAO!!

NQTY - I don't get why you don't like your name. I've always thought it was clever.

Thyme, stay around, you're kinda snarky and mean, but really funny, and I appreciate that in a poster. And if someone calls you a name, call them one back. No biggie.

POM - I like the concept - and how Not Quite There Yet describes all aspects of my life and how I'm not where I'd like to be (better mom, better wife, better housekeeper, better with money, etc).
But, as a screen nick, it just doesn't roll off the fingers like some of the others. I tangle my own fingers up typing NQTY and I'm a pretty good at typing!

Apparantly not. Apparantly this is high intellectual stuff, and anyone who doesn't get it is just stupid.
Unless "Obtuse" is defined differently on EE than everywhere else, and I'm suppose to know that.
