I'll eat off my pantry and freezer food, I hope the electricity does not go out. There's an instant freezer outside your door.

There was an article online somwhere yesterday that quoted someone (I think in St. Louis) as saying that people were "freaking out" over the coming snow/ice storm. Yeah it might inconvenience people for a little while, but it's not worth freaking out over. I wonder if you've ever lived through an ice storm. The damage and death toll is very high.

Ain't nothing wrong with pasta & tuna. However ketchup+hot water = tomato soup is just wrong, lol.

The pasta and tuna. My kitchen is decent sized. I eat pasta and tuna salad for two meals each week. I wouldn't want to eat it for days on end nor would my celery last that long.

I think this is nothing more than a conspiracy by the Obama Administration to jump start the economy..........
I just make sure the generator is gassed up and ready to go. Two days at home, is not really any biggie.

We had a really bad ice storm 2 or 3 years ago in New England, and people in NH and some in western MA were without power for weeks, literally. It was awful. So yeah, ice can be really bad.

Yeah it might inconvenience people for a little while, but it's not worth freaking out over.
I've lived through a couple ice storms and it's far more than a 'little inconvenience'. Both times, I lost the power to my totally electric home for over a week. No heat, no hot water. After the first storm, I finally was able to find a hotel room, which was fortunate because I was seeing signs of hypothermia in me.
That storm cost me roughly $700 in losses.
The second storm, I was better prepared but I still wouldn't label it an inconvenience.

Yes, I have lived through a couple ice storms. And perhaps "inconvenience" wasn't a great choice of words, but I didn't say "little inconvenience." Depending on the storm, and what it does, it can be a huge inconvenience. But the point I was trying to make is that it's not worth "freaking out" over. Freaking out doesn't serve any useful purpose.

I wish I had bought those hiking boots I was thinking about earlier this year. When I get thru' this I'm definitely buying a good pair of hiking boots that I can wear in snow and rain.... I bought them! Once in a while I get it right.

Went out and bought a sled. Might as well play in it.
Brought my taxes and a book to keep myself entertained at work as I am a healthcare provider and everyone is cancelling appointments. And, we always make sure we have plenty of booze when there is snow in the forecast.

During the Blizzard of '77, Buffalo's Mayor Griffin famously told everyone to "stay home from work and get a 6-pack". I have lived by that credo ever since. Griffin meant everyone should stay home, exercise and work on their abs.

I should start this by saying that I really hope all of you stay safe through the coming storm.
I'll end it however, by saying that the only preparations I'll be doing is watching the news while drinking a beer and laughing at you guys as you scurry around in panic. It'll be 65-70 and sunny here while it's dumping snow and ice on all of you. It'll be nice for the remainder of the week. On Saturday we're taking the kids to the park to play softball. Should be goods shorts weather. Sunday we'll watch the game and grill.

Yeah it might inconvenience people for a little while, but it's not worth freaking out over. It can be if it turns into an ice storm and there is a massive power outage followed by below zero temperatures - which is what is being predicted here We had a wicked ice storm and lost power for 3 days a few years ago..it would have been pointless to stock up on milk as it would have gone bad (unless I put it outside)...the beer and wine were still drinkable, though

I prepared for the blizzard by taking a vac. day today. I would have made it in ok for my 2nd shift but probably not made it home tonight or Wed either. May have to use another tomorrow. I'm stocked up on cookies, cheesy potato soup, and wine which should last at least a couple days.

We got sleet/ice today. Everyone says it's bad out there, but all I can see is the slushy parking lot. I came in to work this morning as I knew DH and kids would be home due to school/work being called off. I'm having much more fun here!!

I can't get back to DF but that's okay for both of us. I'd rather a few extra days in the nice weather!!! The sooner he figures out Florida is better than Michigan the happier we both will be.

In reality, is there anyone who couldn't live for weeks on the food that they already have? I have a pantry full of canned soups, goods, dried goods, stuff in the freezer and on and on. Pfft. Food hoarder. I have a monthly food budget and I eat what I buy, so the timing of this storm made me have to scurry a bit. Think of all of the children in Africa who could survive on what's in your pantry. Monster.

My blizzard preparation is to stay right here in the Pacific Northwest. We might get rain later this week but that's it.

Blizzard has hit - close to 50 mph wind and up to 20" of new snowfall possible. Absolute white-out conditions currently. My work has already told out of towners not to try to come in tomorrow, but no snow day for me since I live 4 blocks from the office. I'll be walking since there's no point in even attempting to clear the drive until the drifting stops. (yes, I usually drive there when it's cold!) The only way I won't have to go in is if the power is out, which I'm not going to wish for. Only blizzard prep was to stop at the grocery store on the gusty walk home to pick up sausage. I guess that's more about needing a pizza fix than the weather though.
