#2 all the way...I would never allow anyone (even someone I love) to have that much power over me. If I'm physically able to work and make my own money I sure as hell plan to...and he better do the same.

But isn't the woman that does not have to work much fortunate? Lately there are some marriages breaking up because the woman found another man. There is a big age difference for one of them and I feel the woman knows what she is doing because now she will have financial help. Another woman I know does not have the money problems she had when she was married because of her new situation. Don't get me wrong, I prefer to be financially independent. I just consider them lucky. If you are jealous and feel their choice is smarter than yours, that's your opinion. Its rare looking from the outside that we ever know all the choices and compromises that exist behind the exterior. Many wives of very rich men are expected to keep an impeccable appearance and put up hubby having affairs. Very few men who have wives who don't work outside the home plan for them to do no to little housework. Most work, its just more flexible and more 24x7 than most jobs.

I have two jobs, and it's a seven-day-a-week deal, though one of them is freelance. But I still have to meet deadlines for most of the sites I write for, so I don't have complete freedom over when I write. Put the research for the freelance on top of that, plus workouts and household stuff, and you understand why my days are normally 14 hours long, every day. Full disclosure here: I do not have children.
I understand tired, though. But I want to turn freelance into full-time, so I have to keep thinking about what's next, and why I do this to the point of not wanting to, sometimes.
If you cannot reschedule or redistribute some of the tasks you do, then you have to reduce the number. Either don't do them every day, or don't do them at all. And stop saying yes when people ask you to do stuff. It's always the busy people who are requested for duty, because they seem to be able to get it all done. But the word "No" works if you use it often enough and with enough force.

"But if a rich man came along who would and could support you so that you wouldn't have to work, would you leave your BF for the rich guy? Apparently that would be the smart choice..."
No - Because I am STUPID.

My work responsibilities consume much of my "awake" time.

You're the same poster who accused me of sucking off the government teat and not paying taxes because I got a $3500 refund the year my son was born, you never bothered to ask me what I paid in to the feds in addition to that $3500. Maybe you'd find a man to support you if you weren't so bitter and didn't assume the worst about everyone

I did not accuse you. Have a great day. I love you. Jesus loves you.

I just did . . . . I started with a question: Did you get back more than you paid in? IF you did, there is something effed up . . . . .
My God Bless you with a lifetime of happiness.
Love you.

So? you started this thread with a question too. Then told everyone what the answer was.
And I just threw up in my mouth a little. Who tells strangers they love them?

Ha. I'm an atheist, but my booze told me to tell you it appreciates the sentiment. My booze is a believer! Must be the whole water into wine thing?

i think a smart woman is one who makes sure she always has SOME sort of skill so that she can do something besides just being a mom or some ornament on a guy's arm. ..and i don't mean that as a slam against stay-at-home moms.. they work extremely hard and i have a lot of respect for them. I'm not cut out for that.myself. but what if her husband dies? or they divorce? how is she going to support herself? that is the reason i think everyone needs a skill.. now, if you can take that skill and turn it into a home based business? that's cool. my friend has her own kids clothing line and she rocks it!
as for women who could work, but don't because they are 'married to money', i consider them leeches.. how utterly BORING to sit on your butt and do nothing (or just 'society' stuff).. but that's only my opinion.
