Are you graying or has your hair turned white and you're under the age of 50? I'm amazed by how many people start going white even in their late 20's. For guys it looks sophisticated and mature. For ladies it looks matronly. How many of you peeps are dying your hair, c'mon we know you're out there. I'm pretty vain and have minimal white hair even though I'm almost 40.

I was getting a few greys. Then my ex left and they all went away (seriously).

Quit lying IHOP!!! You're over 40 and you're bald! I color my hair.. I get a few stray grays here and there.. but honestly, I like coloring my hair because it makes it shinier. translation most of my hair is gray and if I didn't dye it I would look like Mrs. Doubtfire...

I still have a lush full head of non-grey hair. DF's mom has Steve Martin syndrome, in that she went completely white in her late 30s. Not sure if DF has been affected because she hasn't had her natural color since I've known her. She's currently growing it out so I guess we'll see.

I'm 49, have all my hair, and just one tiny streak of grey. However, I do have to dye my beard. It's dark brown with patchy grey that looks like mange if I don't dye it.

I started getting a few white hairs in my late 20's. Now I'm over 50 and it's more than half white. I guess I was lucky. My dad was all gray by 40. I won't be dying it either. I don't care what color it is as long as it's still there.

I quit dyeing my hair years ago. Too much time wasted in a colorist's chair. It's a mix of gray and black. I love it. It pisses off my mom, which is the real reason I let it go. She thinks my gray hair makes people think she is older than she is.

My hair started turning silver when I was in my late teens (at 17 I had a 1 inch wide silver streak in the front). It has (of course) progressed as time went on. Now I'm mostly silver/ gray with a little black in the back. My mustache is still black though except for 3 hairs. My beard (when I have one) is mostly gray with some silver.
I never thought about it but when I was younger most people thought that I dyed it.

I'm 28 and I found a silver hair or two... no biggie. First of all, I've got more important things to worry about than 1-2 grey hairs. And second of all, it was a pretty silver color so even when I go grey, it'll be a pretty grey.

I've already started going gray but they only show if I part my hair a certain way. I usually dye my hair (the same color it is naturally) because it's kinda greasy and the dying dries it out so i have some volume. Happily it also covers the two gray streaks I'm developing.

I'm the double nickel. I started getting them when I went through the divorce 10+ years ago. No one in my family has grey as they run to shades of red/blonde thanks to the Scot-Irish side of the family. Kept the young face genes but the hair would give me away. I go every 5 weeks, don't care about the time or the money. I'm worth both.

I've got a few (yes honey I said a few, BITE ME!) silvery hairs. I got used to keeping my head shaved in the military, and have kept at it since I got out. It's just easier not having to deal with hair. You can't really see gray hairs when it's all stubble. I don't really care much anyway. Mine is the slight salt and pepper thing, not the old man gray hair thing. Probably makes me look better.

I have highlights. That's my story and I'm sticking to it! Dark - You have gorgeous hair. If I was Loopy I'd make you grow it back out. But since I'm not... I'll shut up now.

My MIL went white at 30. My wife started coloring her hair when it started going gray. I let mine do whatever it wanted to do.

I'm 31 and occasionally I'll find one that I'm not sure if it's blond or gray. I've got auburn hair that runs the whole spectrum individually from almost black to dark red to blond... so even when I do start turning it will likely blend. However, I have dark eyebrows and I've noticed a few gray hairs there. Those get plucked!

My hair started turning grey while I was still in high school. My mother was entirely white by 35, and my maternal grandmother had her hair all fall out by that age.
I have dyed my hair since my mid-20s. DH is getting to have more salt than pepper in his hair. He keeps it short and doesn't worry about it.

I found my first gray at 19. My mom had premature graying as did her sisters. Unfortunately, most of my gray is my crown. I don't think I have any gray on the sides or the back. I have been dying my hair for years and probably always will.
My husband just turned 41 two days ago and the bastard still hasn't had one f'n gray hair!

I had a few grays in my 30s, hit 40s and had a teenager. Now I have a nice salt pepper effect with the white highlights.

I found my first gray when I was probably 18 or 19. I've been coloring my hair since I was probably about 25. DH doesn't have any gray, the jerk, but he does have a seriously receding hairline.

My mom went grey in her late 20's. I use to get very embarrassed because people thought she was my Grandma! Luckily, I have been blessed with my dad's awesome hair, which is still vibrantly brown and thick, even though he's in his late 50's! Yay for good genes!

The bad news about that is that you look older when you are young. The good news is if you go grey and leave it that way, you will look the same age for the next 40+ years.
Seriously, Steve Martin has barely aged since "King Tut."

I will say that when I notice a lot of grey in my hair I dye it because my kids are so young. Not that I'm the oldest Mom in the carpool - but I just want to make sure that I don't look like the oldest Mom in the carpool.

Dark - You have gorgeous hair. If I was Loopy I'd make you grow it back out. But since I'm not... I'll shut up now. I used too. I even had fun with it for a while. Now the whole concept just seems like a PITA. Keep in mind you're talking to a guy that hasn't had to so much as run a brush through his hair in a decade. I can take a shower right before bed, sleep on it, roll straight out of bed, and I'm ready to go. No bad hair days, no tangles, I can cut it myself, it's never dry looking, greasy looking, dull, shiny, whatever. It's just always the same with no maintenance other than taking clippers to it once a month. I've thought about growing it out again a couple times recently, but I never make it to longer than about an inch before I decide it's a horrible idea and shave it all off again.

Gray/white and losing it. I blame my children, wife, ex wife and the a#*holes I work with, they are evil, it is all their fault

My hair is shades of red, blonde, and brown. If I have any grays, I can't see them. I stopped coloring my hair in 2006 and I really don't want to start coloring again, but I guess we'll see how the eventual grays grow. BF is 32 and he has quite a bit of salt and pepper at the temples and his beard has a smattering of gray hairs. He's devilishly handsome!

Started getting grays at 16 and have been coloring since my early 20's. Probably more than 3/4 now in my early 40's. I have no intention of discontinuing coloring for some time yet! How does one go from a brunette to natural gray without the growth line anyway? I really don't want to get a super short cut, but maybe when the time comes I'll be ready for that too. (senile)
