And that's okay too, just don't get in my face and tell me I'm wrong if you don't understand where I am and how I got here.

What the heck? Why can't we ever have a civil discussion about dead babies?

What the heck? Why can't we ever have a civil discussion about dead babies? I think we can all agree dead babies are bad. We disagree on dead fetuses.

Oh sorry, what I meant was why can't we ever have a civil discussion about dead potential babies?

some people don't have anything better to do than start shit. actually, this was in direct response to a thread discussing the 50th anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision. I'm impressed at how civil both threads have been for the most part....

The thread was started as an intelligent response? Yeah, I'm not buying that at all.

the other thread had no poll, so this one was started with one. then we had discussion going on in both. it really has been mostly civil. I've been involved in some pretty nasty arguments about this, that I have walked away from. other than whatever ticked off suz, it's been OK.
ooh....my bad. I lost track of which thread was which. the "Roe v. Wade" one was the poll.

How many millions of dead potential babies did you create this week?

How many millions of dead potential babies did you create this week? I assume you're talking about my sperm? Honestly, probably not that many. I remember my doc saying something about your sperm count dropping pretty radically about three years after a vasectomy. I got mine like 7 years ago. Besides, sperm by itself isn't a potential baby. The same way an egg by itself isn't a potential baby. The two have to meet, fuse, do the hokey pokey, or whatever, then it's a potential baby.

My problem with this issue is this: at what point do you quantify a soul? Does a soul become viable at 24 weeks? Or, as I believe, is the soul present at conception?
I personally don't believe in abortion. However I'm not going to tell another woman what they can/should or cannot/shouldn't do. That decision above my pay grade.

I'm pretty sure the egg sees the sperm and goes "nom nom nom"... then, WALLA!

And do you believe the soul has only one shot at a body or not?

<<< And do you believe the soul has only one shot at a body or not? >>> ...that would need its own thread, don't you think? If I were inclined to discuss such things here yes. Seeing Rose's post brought out my persnickety nature. If the soul is eternal why would it make sense it only had one shot at being in a body? Don't answer though. This thread should quietly fade away.

Don't answer though. This thread should quietly fade away. That was my plan Philosophies could be (and have been) debated for far longer than we would be around to debate them... and by far more intelligent people than myself!

I seriously can't believe that someone would really care THAT much about anything anyone has to say here to actually leave the boards. I mean, really, I ask for advice and usually get good advice but in the final analysis, it's my decision.
