ok, i just figured that PPP had screwed up, or got a bad sample.
but now that GALLUP has confirmed it, i am convinced:
RICK SANTORUM IS THE NEW FRONT RUNNER.
man. the GOP REALLY doesn't want Romney.
astounding.
who thinks he can win? i can't rule it out at this point. i have continually underestimated him.
edit: i had to change this today. i figured Romney would get a 5% bounce off this Tuesday's primary. i was wrong. he got a 15% bounce:
Rasmussen Reports 2/29 - 2/29 1000 LV 3.0 40 24 16 12 Romney +16
i think, unless something super amazingly dramatic happens by Tuesday, Santorum is finished.

What a mess.
Obama is beating Santorum 50% to 40% in National polls.
Santorum = LOSS in November.

This election is going to be a hot mess. I think I will just write my own name on the ballot come November.

It is amazing, isn't it? I just quietly watched and observed all of the debates and formed my own opinions. I don't listen to what others say, I just felt good about him.

There are quite a few laps remaining in this race. Some contenders may yet run out of fuel, or even crash and burn... Premature declarations of a victor at this point are nothing but hot air.

I live in PA and am a Republican.
We threw this guy out on his rear end in the biggest landslide defeat ever for an incumbent.

I get the impression he wasn't paid too much attention to. He was senator from 2000-2006, so there's lots there.
And while Romney may go towards the center in the general election, I highly doubt Santorum will.

As far as I can see the main & almost only difference between Obama & Romney is their color. Politically they are just about the same except one claims to be a democrat & is a socialist & the other claims to be a republican & is a democrat. Same same as far as I can see. Like I said before I wouldn't vote for Romney because he is the same as Obama except that he "might" be a better politician & we don't need someone that's a good politician pushing socialist goals. At least Obama is inapt. who thinks he can win? i can't rule it out at this point. i have continually underestimated him. Can he win, I have no clue. My guess is that he will at least the the conservative vote & that's more than Romney could do.

At least Santorum knows how many States we have and Obama's 2-term as a Senator was despicable as he didn't have many work days. His biggest political backer was Tony Resko and his background we know already. Amazing that a community organizer who really accomplished nothing except being voted one of the top 10 to "Transform America" could be so caught up in the media frenzy. I find this astounding and we see where it has gotten us thus far.

I live in PA too... that's why i'm thinking Diamonds doesn't... if he's Rick Santorum's biggest fan .... I'm from Chicago and I know how the machine works there, and that's exactly what it is. A corrupt political machine, mentioning Blago as a typical example of wheeling and dealing, but unfortunately getting caught. Doesn't matter that he was a likeable guy, he was guilty and has to serve his time. btw, I am 100% female as depicted under my avatar....

Oops on the gender front there diamonds ... Guess I should have realized... Oh quite alright, but show me a guy that would have this nick and I would tend to wonder... although a lot of names currently have no clue to gender status.

Can he win, I have no clue. My guess is that he will at least the the conservative vote & that's more than Romney could do. true enough. i would now claim that Romney can get the independent vote, but recent polling indicates that he can't. he is losing to Obama in that category as well. so from the GOP POV, why NOT put Santorum on the ticket?

Santorum vs Obama should make for a better show than Romney vs Obama when we get to the general election. At least this way there will be differences between the two that they can argue about.
I don't think Santorum can win a general election though. His hard line stance on social issues will drive all the independents away, and republicans by themselves aren't a strong enough voting block to put a president in office.

Santorium has an identity crisis. For many they had never heard of him or knew what he was about. Currently his big roadblock is money. That is what it takes to become known across a wider spectrum.

I don't normally comment over here, but there are very few people from my area in Pa (Pittsburgh) democrats or republicans, who think very highly of Santorum. There are a number of reasons for this.
One thing that was really a slap in the face, locally, was that he and his family never lived in the area while he was in office. He bought a house in a Pittsburgh suburb, but after he was elected he moved his family into a house in Virginia. The kids attended a cyber school, which the school district in Pennsylvania where he bought the house, had to pay most of the tuition for the kids to attend even though they weren't living in state.
Eventually the school district asked Santorum to repay the tuition. There was a whole drawn out dispute and the state (ie, the taxpayers) ended up picking up the tab.
The whole thing just hasn't sat well with a lot of people.
