Yeah, I looked around while eating dinner last night and I didn't see anyone with a gun pointed at my head telling me what to eat.
So, why would I want someone standing there with a gun telling me what NOT to eat?
Our citizenry, at this point in time is perhaps the most uneducated, uninformed, ignorant and just plain lazy, then it has been since the nation was founded.

Many also look like this because starches are the cheapest foods and they will blow you up like a balloon. That is why poor people and people in prison often look like beach balls. The good stuff costs more. The poor get food stamps. No reason why dietary choices should be an issue. Guys in prison look like they are in great shape to me.

Dried beans are as cheap as dirt and high in protein. But making a pot of bean soup takes a heck of a lot more effort than making a pot of 'Noodles and Sauce' or spaghetti. I'm hypoglycemic and was able to keep a high protein diet on a very small grocery budget when I was living on $9000/year in the late 90's. But it took actual effort. I spent at least a hour making dinner with enough leftovers for tomorrow's lunch, and since I was still learning, 90% of what I made turned out really bad, something that wouldn't happen with processed junk.

I read the directions on the bag. Not exactly rocket science. There were even a couple of recipes.
But one big advantage I had was the fact that I knew I was hypoglycemic. It would be almost impossible for an undiagnosed hypoglycemic to keep a normal weight, because most of the conventional diet advice is exactly wrong. And when you talk to most morbidly obese people you hear the same story -- brain fog, mood swings, headaches and body aches when they are hungry combined with an intense craving for sugar and starch. These are all classic symptoms of hypoglycemia.

That's great it worked out for you. I know for me there's only so many things I'm willing to do massive planning for and day to day meals aren't one of them. Recently I used some dried beans. But I had to remember to soak them in water in the frig the night before and next time I should allow a minimum of 1 1/2 hours to cook them instead of the hour I had planned.

I think the nation as a whole is perfectly capable of monitoring their own sugar consumption and that of their loved ones. Really? Then why does the majority look like this? Obesity is caused by more than just sugar intake.

They also have to be cooked at a high heat. It is possible to use dried Kidney beans that have been crock-potted for hours and to DIE, yes, that is right DIE of a form of poisoning that destroys every blood cell in your body. And yet no one is screaming for the government to protect us from the evil, deadly kidney bean? But, by all means, let's protect us ignorant citizens from sugar.

Really? Then why does the majority look like this? Obesity is caused by more than just sugar intake. Yes but sugar is a fine example of the considerable "lack of moderation" that prevails in what has become the new obese lifestyle of many Americans. Did you know that we are eating 12 times the amount of sugar that our great grandparents consumed? That is the equivalent to 160 pounds of sugar per person per year. Imagine filling up a room with 160 one pound packages of sugar. That is a LOT of sugar. For the record I don't think the government needs to step in, I believe people just need to wake the hell up and take care of the gift that is their bodies.

Come to my house Florida, I'll crockpot you some dried Kidney beans and feed you a special jam made with cherry pits as a secret ingredient. You will love it. Well I guess it isn't really a secret anymore now is it?

How 'bout a honey crusted puffer fish, green potatoes and a nice Rhubarb Tea to wash it down with for supper. For desert, I can whip up a special almond nut bread. It's to die for....

The solution (no pun intended)
Section 1. After one year from the ratification of this article the manufacture, sale, or transportation of sugar within, the importation thereof into, or the exportation thereof from the United States and all territory subject to the jurisdiction thereof for consumption purposes is hereby prohibited. Section 2. The Congress and the several States shall have concurrent power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation. Section 3. This article shall be inoperative unless it shall have been ratified as an amendment to the Constitution by the legislatures of the several States, as provided in the Constitution, within seven years from the date of the submission hereof to the States by the Congress.
