She has never been attractive so it is no wonder that she looks so bad. She has always been a woman who could care less about her looks. In fact, she thrives on being unattractive. But we will never hear the last of the Clinton's so I am sure she will go for vp. And then you would have to look at a woman who "has never been attractive" and whom "has always been a woman who could care less about her looks" and "In fact, she thrives on being unattractive" for the next four years. Poor you. I think she's at least average in attractiveness its just when she needs to make a choice she chooses substance over looks. Probably why those who prefer looks over substance like Palin. Still I'd much rather look at her then Gingrich or Obama. Give me your useful, under appreciated ... Ron Paul / Hillary 2012 ;D

I heard a silly rumor a while ago. Hillary would step down from Secretary of State to run with Obama in 2012 as his Veep. Joe Biden would become Sec of State. (a job for which he has expressed interest in in the past) Don't know how a place keeper would work. I'm not saying I believe it, but it might Oh dear. I don't think letting Joe Biden loose with foreign dignitaries would be good for international relations. Best to keep the "did he really just say that?" issues to a domestic audience.

Ron Paul / Hillary 2012 ;D As far as looks go, I think Presidents tend to age 4 years for every 1 in office. I suspect First Lady/Senator are at least 2:1 and Secretary of State is probably 3:1 or 4:1. Alas, men get more distinguished looking at they age and women get called "haggard." But she's done some hard miles the past 20 years. I hope this isn't the last we've heard of her.

Did she make an official announcement, or was it a leak/speculation type of report? IT was on CBS News last night.

I find no evidence that Hillary Clinton ever gave up her license to practice law. I may have missed something along the line, so would appreciate a link discussing this action on the part of Ms Clinton. She is not an attorney licensed to practice in NYS where she lives, but that doesn't mean she still doesn't have her Arkansas license.

Crafty that's one of things that bugs me. Women get judged on their looks far more than men and most people have defined looking good for women as looking young as well. We will start reaching parity in politics when we have as many less attractive women in politics like we already do with men. Where the discussions on looks will be equal for both genders as would be discussions of personal life and actual policies. Sometimes it really sucks to be a woman and when I read Zib's comment was one of them. I just heard or read recently that studies on promotion of female scientists is even worse than expected. On average they have to publish, etc. 2.5 times as much as their male counterparts to get to the same place. Its just like discrimination for orchestra seats. I think it was something outrageous like female musicians are ten times more likely to win a seat when they are behind a screen and the reviewers can only judge on the quality of the music versus when they watch them play. Apparently showing up female is a huge handicap.

She's at the point where she can make a ton of money speaking, or lecturing at a college, and take gigs when she feels like it. A much easier and less stressful job than the one she has now.
My personal opinion is that there is probably a lot of friction between her and others in the White House. She ran against Obama and for a long time there were reports that they didn't get along wonderfully. Even now there's tons of reports that the White House is a difficult place to get your opinion heard if you are not in the inner circle. There's been a few big resignations lately.

She takes a lot of flak, but I think she's been doing an awesome job!! You don't suppose she's gonna challenge Obama?!? I predicted this over a year ago.

Nope, heard tell that she is gunning for president of The World Bank ... heard this on the news this morning. And, I do concur with a lot of others, she was looking old and tired at the State of the Union Address.

Yes, but she's also 16 years older than she was in 1996, her husband's health has deteriorated since 1996, and since her daughter has been married a couple of years, there's a good chance there will be grandbabies in the near future.

Resignations from WH staff is not unusual...burn out, poor renumeration..it isn't good and many of these folks can earn a lot more privatly so after a while, unless one wants the divorce, time to go home.. Must be very hard on families , and true , those in the military face the same regarding family time but these folks are not in the military.. The excitement of the position after a while can wear thin I would think and doubt one is allowed any down time in such positions, have to always be on ones toes and after a while would get to be a drag I would think..

Now that's rich - thriving on being unattractive. That's like a guy thriving to have a small dick. Doesn't happen.

I am not sure why this is thought to be unusual....
I just took a look at former secretary of state's tenure....
we need to go back to George Shultz for someone who stayed more than 4 years.... (1982-1989)..... and before him Dean Rusk (1961-1969)....then Cordell Hull (1933-1944)....
A secretary of state sticking around for no more than a full term of a president (or less) seems to be the norm, even with those who are re-elected.... G. Bush II had 2 Secretary of States (serving about 4 years each), as did B. Clinton......
It has to be a tough job... a job I feel she has done well (considering we had 2 wars going on, and all of the general unrest in the world) and if in fact she does step down after the election, a long rest is probably what she (or any future secretary of state) needs.

No, in her mind, being attractive would mean she isn't smart. She actually could be somewhat attractive but that isn't her persona. She wants to be taken SERIOUSLY, so in her mind, that means looking and acting like a man. She was and is a product of her time. I don't think Sarah plain is attractive. She acted like the stereotypical blonde which is death in politics. She may very well have a brain but who the heck would ever get past her ditziness to listen to her? Hillary has a brain, a very clever one. Clever is not a compliment, btw.

In her position it is a 24/7 job. Making sure you have all the right information, selling people who have their own personal agenda, making sure every I is dotted, keeping up on the daily world crisis and they hit your desk, making sure your staff is keeping you informed and on schedule. Meeting after meeting, traveling for hours trying to persuade foriegn leaders of your nations view point. Etc Etc Etc. Any normal person would be burned out. She is human after all, not a machine. Her position is as pressure packed as any in that office in any time in history. Makes one tired just thinking about it.

When she retires, will she be a double dipper?
Social Security, as well as a Federal pension? Make that a triple dipper? Social security, Federal pension, and Presidential family pension? Or quadruple pensioner? Social security, Federal Pension, Presidential family pensioner Governor family pensioner from Arkansas?

Or what she views as attractive or how she values it? She has been bashed for every haircut she's ever had, every outfit she ever wore. She has been criticized for looking too mannish and criticized for showing a hint of cleavage on the Senate floor. I would hope she has recognized that she can't win and dresses to please herself.

I don't think her spouse's pension really counts as double dipping though. I'm guessing she gets 1 federal pension that reflects both her service in Congress and her service as Secretary of State. Although the Clintons would be a good case argument for folks who think we need to means test Social Security.
