The news reported tonight that Hilary Clinton is stepping down " as soon as a replacement is found."
She looks very tired.

Very, very weird indeed. I'll be interested in the rest of the story about this one. Doesn't seem like Hillary.

She looked like crap during the state of the union. I wonder if she's got health issues going on.

She takes a lot of flak, but I think she's been doing an awesome job!!
You don't suppose she's gonna challenge Obama?!?

The other "l" was too tired from being in her name for 54 years and dropped off.

I was thinking that or become VEEP as a stepping stone to be the Dem candidate in 2016...who do the Democrats have in the pipeline?

She said she was finished after this term was up, no matter who won the election and no not interested in the big job..she may have decided that right now, except for Iran / Nuclear still up in the air but over all this is a quiet time, possible good time to retire..possible personal health issues, possible Bills health issues, possible just want to enjoy life a bit and even though the job looks exciting..very demanding, always on the go, after a while..gets old and when you think about it , the pressure and extremes, have to be ungodly..never a dull moment, rarly any down time ..does she ever take a real vacation, time out..completly..a few weeks off..even the POTUS gets that ..

"As Secretary of State, Clinton is barred from partisan politics and she acknowledged that it is unusual not to be participating in this election season. Still, she said she's enjoying being out of the political rough and tumble. "You know, I didn't watch any of those debates," she said with a smile while referring to the Republican presidential hopefuls' debates." m.firstpost.com/world/hillary-clinton-says-shes-done-with-the-high-wire-of-politics-195006.html

Thanks Tenn, that was the exact quote I was thinking of when I said:
Maybe health issues like Dark says. I don't buy that statement for a minute though, unless there is something bigger that we don't know.

My wife saw her in person during the 2008 race, and when she saw her during the state of the union she was pretty surprised with how haggard she looks. She said she looked a solid ten years older, and tired, or sick.
If it's not a health issue, the stress must be ungodly.

Could be two things FE:
1. She's actually tired and ready to relax and move on.
2. Step down before the Democratic Convention and be Obama's running mate. Would probably not seek the 2016 nomination for president.
At least on the surface she seems to work well with Obama.

I noticed at the state of the union address she looked like she did not want to be there.

We don't get younger looking as we grow older. Hillary Clinton is no exception. The only physical change I see is she has longer hair.

She is a woman traveling constantly to foreign countries some of which still treat women differently and worse than men. If that isn't enough she's the front person for the US's first non-white President. Those two facts by themselves make her job harder than any of her predecessors all things being equal. And they aren't because the world is always becoming more complex and intertwined every year.

She has never been attractive so it is no wonder that she looks so bad. She has always been a woman who could care less about her looks. In fact, she thrives on being unattractive. But we will never hear the last of the Clinton's so I am sure she will go for vp.

Good thing she didn't become President. Clearly she can't hang.
(Is she ill?)

She's in her late 60's right? Most people are slowing down at that time.
Time to retire.

And then you would have to look at a woman who "has never been attractive" and whom "has always been a woman who could care less about her looks" and "In fact, she thrives on being unattractive" for the next four years. Poor you.

Did she make an official announcement, or was it a leak/speculation type of report?

Doesn't matter to me. Obama is somewhat attractive and he is equally a snake as the Clinton's. He is not, as far as I know, a murderer, though. I'll give him that much.

She's had a hard life. Being married to a serial cheater and having it flaunted in your face. Having to give up her law license to avoid it being taken away. Being close to getting the golden apple and then stepping away in return for being secretary of state. She made her choices but that doesn't mean I don't pity her and disagree with the choices she has made.

There is a stomache flu/sinus infection double header going around in my area. If she only looked like crap at the SOTU, it could be something like that.
As for her steppping down, Bill isn't exactly in the best of health. She might just want to spend time with her hubby and enjoy any grandchildren Chelsea might make. Time will tell what's going on. She's accomplished a lot. I wouldn't blame her for wanting to just enjoy life for a while.

I find no evidence that Hillary Clinton ever gave up her license to practice law. I may have missed something along the line, so would appreciate a link discussing this action on the part of Ms Clinton.

I agree with Zib that unless Ms. Clinton is seriously ill, she certainly will not retire from American politics.
