If they were adults they would reason that we need to move toward both, carefully, slowly and deliberatively. If. We've been moving carefully, slowly and deliberately for decades. Personally, when I know I'll be making less, I spend less. I don't continue to overspend in hopes of trying to increase my income down the road. Our government OTOH, spends more regardless. The 2012 budget called for $3.7 trillion in spending on $2.6 trillion projected revenue. Huston, we have a problem...the math just doesn't work right. We have a damned spending problem when your budget is 145% of your revenue. On tax increases....For the last 50+ years revenue was 15-20% of GDP. These days it has fallen below 15%. It really does need to increase. Still, I am not willing to support any increases though until our government shows that they can actually make the tough decisions and seriously cut spending....and I'm not talking a few billion in cuts, I'm saying some serious cuts. To simply hand over more tax money without balancing the budget simply drags out the problem. Sure the cuts will hurt. So be it. Let's bring on the pain and get our financial house of cards shored up a bit. We may even end up a stronger country having done so.

We don't disagree as much as you may think FY. And BTW, the reason I wrote carefully, slowly and deliberatively was because both cutting spending and increasing taxes can impinge on any economic recovery if they are too drastic. I don't know if any economist truly knows the formula for how incrementally things can be balanced without the economy tipping back into recession. I damn sure know I don't, which is why I used vague language. I can agree with that simply because the government spending is such a huge percentage of our GDP (which, IMHO, is not a good thing to begin with). The problem is, we don't really seem to care about cutting during an economic boom either. Damned near every revenue increase is met with additional spending. I've worked several contracts to provide support for sub sonar programming and testing. I've seen so much waste it isn't funny. I've seen end of the FY spending sprees to waste unused money. The last position I had went from contracted to government employee. The guy they hired had a masters degree and (I found out talking to my old bossman while visiting RI a few years later) was paid more than 2.5x what I was paid to do the exact same thing....and I spent 6 months training him. There is so much you could cut in defense alone and not reduce the effectiveness of our military one single bit. The fact is, nobody is willing to do it.

Fair? We took a community organizer that had no other experience and hung out with the likes of Ayres and Rezko. Bush was hated for the Iraq war, however there was a Democratic Congress in there at the time and they all voted to go and invade Iraq. Now, Obama bypassed the vote of Congress and sent drones over Libya. Fair? He's getting shit from Louis Farrakhan now as he was friends with Mumar Gaddafi and is calling BO an assasin. In 2007, Pelosi's first day as speaker, the national debt was 8.6 trillion. It has doubled now. I bid you adieu... FYI;Try to stay on topic... the debt has not doubled since Obama took over. it was north of $10T before he ever darkened the WH door.

The main reason for the downgrade was the disgrace of the Republicans in Congress allowing the United States to come within a hair of default. Anything to hurt the economy and Obama's chances of re-election. Sorry, but this is your bias. Boehner worked hard and submitted many bills to the Democrats but every one of them were shot down.

Perry is now flirting with FIFTH PLACE. he came out that way in the CBS poll this week. Yea, that's a shocker, but recalling the polls in the 2008 elections, at approximately the same time. Giuliani was at the top and Thompson was running a close second, so in retrospect the polls are going to change from month to month. I see Newt is running #3 now. I agree with Morris as far as the debates go, this is the thermometer of the people getting to know the candidates better and want their stances are. Unfortunately, Perry is not a good debater, but somehow I think his numbers will pick up.

it takes a big poster to take criticism, and a bigger one to admit that they were wrong.
It also takes a "big" poster whose posts are deleted for whatever nebulous reasons and not make a ' big" issue over it.

Obama has already shown he has foreign policy cred. ------------------- Well, Cain also has foreign policy cred. In a friendly interview spotted by Washington Monthly’s Steve Benen, CBN host David Brody asked Cain if he was ready for tough questions such as naming the president of Uzbekistan: BRODY: Are you ready for the ‘gotcha’ questions that are coming from the media and others on foreign policy? Like, who’s the president of Uzbekistan?… CAIN: I’m ready for the ‘gotcha’ questions and they’re already starting to come. And when they ask me who is the president of Ubeki-beki-beki-beki-stan-stan I’m going to say, you know, I don’t know. Do you know? And then I’m going to say how’s that going to create one job? Cain added that Uzbekistan was “insignificant” to U.S. national security interests: Knowing who is the head of some of these small insignificant states around the world — I don’t think that is something that is critical to focusing on national security and getting this economy going. thinkprogress.org/security/2011/10/09/339879/cain-uzbekistan-beki-beki-stan-stan/

LOL RDT-what was changed to the Photobucket message was the 'rolleyes2' emoticon which was added to this board by either moonbeam or Virgil. If you click on modify on the post you just made accusing me of taunting and heckling you will see the Photobucket message says 'rolleyes2'. So feel free to blame moonbeam or Virgil for poor coding and programmng. <tenn, my apologies. i intended to quote your post and didn't realize until after i'd posted that i had hit modify instead. I *think* i have it back to the original state now though - moon>

It will then be in edit mode including all the coding which does not show up once posted. Where you now see the Photobucket message you will instead see #'rolleyes2'# (minus the single quote marks). That is the coding either moonbeam or Virgil added to create the 'rolleyes' emoticon.

Once again, obviously, you do. Wrong once again .. Tenn's incessant taunting and heckling is not very high on my priority lists But this is what I do care about: " The Navy SEALS removed one Muslim threat to America...It's up to the voters to remove the other! "

I would think most here would be too embarassed to post a childish or stupid comment such as this one by Tenn which are really getting to be very tiresome and boring IMHO LOL RDT-what was changed to the Photobucket message was the 'rolleyes2' emoticon which was added to this board by either moonbeam or Virgil.

please excuse me, rdt, but I don't see anything childish in explaining a code bug. what's childish about that? seems pretty darn helpful to me, actually.
