We'll be driving to DC in a few weeks to spend a week with my brother and his family and we already have our Disney cruise paid for next Spring Break (driving there too). FWIW the boat is already full.

I'm on vacation right now. Staying a block from the beach at Delray Beach, FL, to chill downtown for a few days, and look at the Ocean. Been beautiful all week, so we're gonna stay another week. Wife wants to ride up to Orlando (in the middle of the summer, I know, right?) this weekend, so we'll probably go. Then it's off to Chicago and the family before school starts. We take about four months off a year. Difference is, we've earned it. I'm not the President. If I had his responsibility (and I took it seriously) I honestly can't see taking more than a few weeks a year-- like everyone else (if they have a job). I don't begrudge him the golfing-- I'd go twice a week if I had the means, and I could still get the job done. The only reason he has incurred so much wrath on the golfing is that the left made it such a big issue with Bush.

Hippies always start out talking peace and love, but without God-- there is no love, no peace...Most of the so called "Hippies" who hung out at Haight and Ashbury are long gone....now we have what are called "Progressives"...just in case you were wondering??

I take a vacation every weekend. It's good to have friends that live in a beachfront condo.

Our country would be better off if most of todays elected officials were voted a permanent vacation from their current responsibilities. Their actions or inaction clearly show that they have no clue how we got here or how to fix the problem. They are equivalent to a group of drug addicts who are debating if they should reduce the amount of drugs they are taking but have not even started to recognize that they actually have a serious problem that can only be helped by rehabilitation. Worse yet we the voters are equivalent to people with good intentions who want to help but only enable them to continue heading to the obvious rock bottom.

We went to the coast for 3 days in March; that was nice. My wonderful DH had just returned from a multi-month "camping trip" in Iraq and didn't really want to take a longer vacation. He's been really busy since then, with no time for vacations. And he deploys again next month for yet another multi-month "camping trip" to exotic and warm locations. (And when he's gone I'm pretty much a stay-at-homebody.) But maybe in December when he's back we can go somewhere?

In the last 6 yrs, i've taken one trip that could even be remotely described as vacation - that was to see the son i gave up for adoption when he graduated HS and turned 18.
otherwise, my normal schedule has me off either 3 or 4 days a week.. so if anything i may just take off an extra day. most of the time we only do something that spans 2 days, tops.

The photos were of the murder of Sharon Tate by the Manson Family. Here is Charles Manson's San Francisco home: Of course San Francisco was also the final home of The People's Temple, Pastor Jim Jones, before the Jonestown massacre in South America. Temple insider Michael Prokes, who had been ordered to deliver a suitcase containing Temple funds to be transferred to the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, committed suicide in March 1979, four months after the Jonestown incident. In the days leading up to his death, Prokes sent notes to several people, together with a thirty-page statement he had written about Peoples Temple. Columnist Herb Caen reprinted one copy in his San Francisco Chronicle column. Prokes then arranged for a press conference in a Modesto, California, motel room, during which he read a statement to the eight reporters who attended. He then excused himself, entered a bathroom and fatally shot himself in the head. Prior to the tragedy, Temple member Paula Adams had engaged in a romantic relationship with Guyana's Ambassador to the United States, Laurence "Bonny" Mann.[106] Adams later married Mann.[107] On October 24, 1983, Mann fatally shot both Adams and the couple's child, and then fatally shot himself. Defecting member Harold Cordell lost 20 family members that evening during the poisonings. The Bogues family, which had also defected, lost their daughter Marilee (age 18), while defector Vernon Gosney lost his son Mark (age 5).

has Obama taken more time off than his predecessors? Yes. He has blown away the travel budget of his predecessors, and he played more golf his first 8 months in office than Bush played in 8 years.

I’m on vacation 365/24/7; the problem is that it is mostly in Texas. It’s like living in Hell yet everyone is telling you that you are actually in heaven. In Texas heaven is a good air conditioner.

I just got back from 8 days in Maui, but I feel like I already need another vacation. ugh Vacation from your vacation, huh? I call that work. I love my work, but I like to see everything I do through to the end. I like to sleep until I wake up, and I like to vacation until I'm done vacationing. I never liked being on someone else's timeline. I like to take lunch for however long it takes. I like to take a break when it's time to take a break until I'm done taking a break. And I like to work as well- I like to work until the work is done. I never liked leaving at a particular time because it was time to go- I like to finish things.

In Texas heaven is a good air conditioner. Amen to that. Ours has been having trouble keeping up lately. We have it set at 76 and it hits 80 around 5:00 each day. This heat wave has been brutal. Water bill was just the highest it's ever been. I don't think the veggies I'm pulling from my garden are quite worth what I'm investing in them in sweat and water these days...

While Manson lived for a short time in the home pictured, paul, it wasn't his home. He rented an apartment in it, as did others.
