i think the view itself would make a good topic: what is the root of it? WHY do a significant number of Arabs believe in the conspiracy? there are some important lessons to be learned here, but i guess it is more important to carve another hole in the Obama pumpkin. ""i am puzzled how this view, which is, incidentally, quite common in the Arab world," The view held by so many in the Arab world , to explain it..possible, uneducated is one way, so many get their information from the Immans in the Mosque, from the media of the country's they reside in , and if illiteracy is one of the reasons for their ignorance of the event, then the media propaganda , radio, TV is how they get their information and so much of the media is controlled by the local governments. The propaganda they put out and many of these country's allowed anti Semitic propaganda to be the norm..Egypt being one of those country's , notwithstanding standing the peace treaty between the Israeli's and themselves, there was nothing in those treaties to demand anti Semitic propaganda not to be allowed, and thus the propaganda was there and encouraged by the Egyptian government. The Holocaust was basically a non Arab phenomenon, not with standing the "Mufti " of Jerusalem being a supporter of the Nazis and spending most of the war in Berlin a honored guest and some units of SS of Muslims being formed and fight for the Nazi's. Most were wiped out in the battle for Berlin..but for the most part, the Holocaust was a European thing..had little to do with the Arabs..thus ignorance of the happening and with the birth of Israel, then any sympathy for the remnants of the slaughter of Jews was gone.. i think you are at least half right here. but i am not at all sure that the rumors are spread through the media. more often, i think they are spread just as most information is in illiterate societies- through hearsay. the oral tradition is alive and well in the Arab world. and they would sooner trust uncle Abdul than Al Jazeera.

I agree that the oral, verbal, word of mouth is powerful in the Arab World, but if you read the wicki I am posting..you will see , that while Anti Semitism on the order of Europe's and Christian teachings was not a part of the Arab World..and why, since the Muslim faith does not accept the old testament , there is no argument with the acceptance or not of a Messiah, that which the church preached for centuries , but with the coming of the modern era, late 1800's and the present, European Anti Semitism is alive and well in Arab Society. By not only word of mouth but forceful trusted media sources, film, radio, TV and preaching by Immans in the Mosques..and also by the contrivance of Arab Governments, the republication of "Protocols of Zion " for one as a factual happening current to todays world..and this is what the modern Arab is exposed to..and if said enough, by authorities who are tusted, after a while , it becomes in their mind, the populace of these countries, what is considered fact. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antisemitism_in_the_Arab_world

Thing is, despite the bitching, pissing, and moaning ... not one solid idea of what to do, how to do it, and who should do it has surfaced. You mean not one you agree with... Nope. I mean exactly what I said. You come up with no more than platitudes when asked to tell us exactly what you would have this country do about Egypt, ed. You have given us nothing with regard to what you believe should be done, how it should be done, or who should do it. Nada. Nuttin'. Zilch.

You guys are too funny. I am of the opinion that we need to be proactive. Why wait until the MB is in power, as Obama seems to want? We should be cutting them off at the knees pre-emptively. No foreign aid, no weapons, and a promise of severe and immediate reprisals if they attack our interests or allies. Is that so hard? Not really, but Obama shot off his mouth and either intentionally supported the MB or, through his ignorance of the facts, unintentionally supported them when he publicly called for Mubarak to step down. I guess his mama never told him the thing about making your bed? Ed as you probably know and unfortunately cutting off providing funding and weapons for Egypt was debated in the Congress a few weeks ago and nothing was resolved...so they may be watching and waiting and then do as the Congress always does hold hearings to ascertain if the billions being funded for Egypt should continue or not..

I agree it would be a great topic for discussion. Unfortunately it would be derailed in a matter of moments. 8-)Wanna test that theory? not right now. i am having a busy day....but maybe l8r. if i remember.

Hmmm...how about we just get the heck out of the middle east and keep those nut cases confined to their world while we drill our own oil and let them eat sand and see if Allah comes to them.

As I thought, ed. You're incapable of backing up your bombast with anything other than more bombast. Makes for poor reading and requires no thought.

OK ed but instead of waiting for that to happen how about just having congress hold more hearings to decide what to do in Egypt. Do we continue to provide funding to this new government? Do we support them if they oppose the treaty between their country and Israel? I think most of us would also like to know how many millions did Mubarak and his family steal from the Billions we gave his government in Cairo for the past ten years.. And I think we all know that the Muslim Brotherhood is all about since they have chapters in this country as you know..
