Obama is not a bad president. He's a fair president. I doubt he will shine in the history books, but he will not be reviled in the same way as Nixon or, yes, Bush II. The rabid right-wingers see the cloud in every silver lining where Obama is concerned, and it is well documented that right-wingers believe that Obama is perfectly imperfect.
As for the economy, Obama is not responsible for it. There is literally nothing within Obama's power to do that would stimulate it unless, of course, you wish him to begin issuing executive orders forcing private companies to begin hiring.
The truth of the matter is: Corporate profits have risen by 13% in the last fiscal quarter, the greatest rise of any nation excepting only Canada. Many European nations have seen corporate profits rise only 3% to 8%.
Why the disparity? It is because European corporations are hiring! This hiring has cut into their profits and thus they show a smaller increase. American companies, however, are hoarding their profits and working existing employees harder rather than hiring new ones.
This has absolutely nothing to do with Obama, and if people actually did their homework before voting, they would understand this. Even giving corporations a big fat tax break would do nothing whatsoever to encourage hiring since corporations already have more than enough money to hire. They simply won't do it.
I would ask all of the naysayers just what, precisely, is Obama supposed to do to persuade American businesses, intent upon sitting miserly upon their heaps of gold, to hire?

Ok Shirina would yuu agree that the relationship with business has not been very strong by Obama especially those of us who own small businesses?? I would even submit to you that most businesses have a very poor relationship with Obama...they all fear higher taxes and more regulations coming from him as you probably know?? Hell we may even have government default on their debt Do you know what that means to businesses?? Btw the score today remains P.I. 1 Shirian 0 So you need to hit a home run to change your score from 0 to 1 or more if you hit a grand slam you will get 4 naturally..

First of all, you don't even seem aware that Michele Bachmann is female.
However, I would never vote for a wacko like her. Anyone who would pollute the American population with such rubbish as conspiracy theories regarding Swine Flu and Democratic presidents needs to be kept far away from the Oval Office. Anyone who makes the claim that "God called" her to "run for congress" needs to be kept far away from the Oval Office. Anyone who makes the claim that Democratic (not Republican) politicians need to be investigated by the media for un-American thoughts and deeds needs to be kept far away from the Oval Office. Anyone who stares robotically into the camera with a not-so-bright look on her face while being unable to answer direct questions needs to be kept far away from the Oval Office.

I think it depends on where in the business cycle you are. Our companies will hire when they need to make more product than the current work force can make. They are making a great profit because they cut their work force. Lower sales could still result in a higher profit. Oh & there is ALWAYS a lag in hiring people after the economy has been slowed down. That lag is just longer now because the demand just isn't there yet. Just my thoughts.

Well, this would be a matter of pitting small business owners up against the general population. Who has the larger numbers? Businesses can blame higher taxes but again homework isn't being done. A Bloomberg poll says that 52% of Americans believe Federal taxes have increased during Obama's administration when, in fact, he has cut taxes by $240 billion since taking office. Business can run and hide under the bed, fearing new regulations as if they were ghosts in the closet, but that doesn't change the fact that profits in America are rising faster than any other nation (aside from Canada). Right-wingers make it out as if Obama's taxes and regulations are pushing businesses into insolvency when that's really not the case. It's all about businesses wanting to hoard their profits instead of contributing to the economy by hiring more employees. You wish to blame the government out of a fallacious hatred of Obama yet the evidence clearly shows that businesses are largely responsible for the current sluggish economy. My earlier question, however, still stands: What precisely do you expect Obama to do that will stimulate businesses into hiring? Now ... what do you suppose would happen during a baseball game if one of the participating teams was the one keeping score and making up the rules? Do you suppose that team would almost always win, even when they lose? Of course, and that is precisely what you're doing. Ergo, your score keeping really doesn't count for much.

Yep, and I totally agree with you here. I can't imagine any sane and rational person voting for someone who obviously pushes the boundaries of insanity and is not at all rational. Unfortunately I fear that the hysterical hatred of Obama cooked up by the Republican spin doctors might persuade many to vote for ANYONE other than Obama. The Republicans could sneak in the devil himself as a candidate just as long as Obama loses.
It's really quite illogical, the mob mentality working to our national demise.

You got me here - why couldn't you have done this under other presidents - the SBA has been around for a long time? well, i can explain it further. the 10% requirement combined with SBA fee waivers and low interest rates (record low) is what made it different. but i suppose i COULD thank Bush for crashing the real estate market, if you would like. that made scooping up a choice property a lot easier. ;]

It's still way too early to access who will go up against Obama. The GOP needs someone like a Chris Christy who will rip Obama to shreds in the debates. Random questions will destroy Obama, as he can only speak from his writers notes. Doesn't matter who the front runner is now, it will change and I am salivating to hear Obama defend what he has done regarding change for the better in his 4 years of occupying the highest office in the land!

C'mon now Shirina you know the rules are fair and I always go by the "Book".....
Do you agree that Obama has tried to kiss and make up with business execs but that went nowhere fast....BTW I read the USMC Blogs every day and I am beginning to sense some frustration with his Afghanistan polices but they have to go with his proposals that are supported by Leon Panetta but not by the rank and file military from what I understand.....If Obama loses the military in 2012 it might just cost him the election and that is beginning to be discussed lately by military types

When I was campaigning for Ron Paul in the 2008 election I noticed a lot of his supporters were independent and republican voters. What I notice when he didn't win the primaries was that most of them said they were not going to vote for either presidential candidate. Since he will have more of a following this year, I would think that Obama has a better chance since the republicans will lose votes if RP doesn't get nominated. He was get anywhere from 5% to 10% of the republican votes in the primaries, so I think that is enough republican votes missing to lose the presidential race. I could be wrong, but I think it is a strong factor.

A good 3rd party candidate would ensure Obama gets re-elected. Just like pissed off Repubs and Independents staying home. That would be a shame. Team Obama is counting on it. I will vote Repub, no matter who it is. Do you people that won't vote really want 4 more years of Obama? REALLY? If so you must be really secure in your lives, jobs, etc, and you don't have your own business.

The honest to god answer - get the f*ck out of their way and prove that he wants the economy and the American citizen to recover from this recession instead of focused on his anti-business agenda to move the US closer to the failed policies of Europe.
In short, take a page out of the Reagan book in the early 80's instead of replicating FDR policies that kept the depression around for a decade +, only to be bailed out by a world war...then again, maybe Obama is trying for that world war - one country at a time.
If it were clear to businesses where they should invest their money, then they would be out earning a return on that money, not parking it in money markets at 10 bps.
If history is kind to this president, it's only because of the overwhelmingly left biased in academics - not because he has been even a competent leader.

do you seriously think that he has lost the Jewish vote?
I do but a lot depends on how the peace negotiations in August turn out with the Palestinians and Israel...if they occur??
the last time Jews did not vote Democrat in the presidential election was when they voted for the SOCIALIST Eugene Debs.
Yea but a lot depends this time on who will be the Republcan nominee for President , I think??? And you also have conservative Jews who would have a rough time voting for Obama and his liberal social agenda..
other than blacks, they are probably the most secure Democratic block out there.
I disagee because the younger Jews are not all in lock step with Obama and they are mostly independents or undecided I would assume??
Independents are split right now. if the GOP runs some crazy right wing nuthole, they will swing Democrat, and we will lose again.
Independents could be the game changer and noboby can make that call just yet...IMHO
