So what I am looking for is the direct attack, stating that you are trolling for attention is an observation not a personal attack.

What exactly is the point of this thread? Once a child passes a certain age, parents stop spanking, and punishment becomes more tailored to discouraging the bad behavior that you don't want to see. At 16 what is more detrimental, a few pops on a padded (due to age, muscle and fat deposits) rare end or the prospects of not being able to drive a vehicle for a month? How would being popped on the rear end be a detriment to the population have a fetish for such proclivities? So you think spanking someone defenseless is OK, but as they grow older and can push back spanking should stop?

I think we're missing the inherently existential implications here.
Ask yourself: How does this subject matter enmesh with Gregorian self-flagellation practices? See what I mean? The engrained authoritarian thought processes of some often express themselves in not only acceptance of the infliction of pain, but actually can progress to a point where the subordinate inflicts the pain upon him/her self ......................................................

That's already done by workers who go to jobs day in and day out that they cannot stand to do.

Reading comprehension, try and use it. That was a brilliant rebuttal to my point! 1. you made no point. 2. Your reading comprehension is in question because no where in my post did I state that I was either for or against spanking children, I simply stated that as children age the punishment that is used is a punishment that will tailor to the behavior you are looking for.

Are you for or against spanking children? Not directly related to the topic that you started. which is: Should employers be allowed to spank employees

Are you for or against spanking children? Not directly related to the topic that you started. which is: Should employers be allowed to spank employees In the context of this thread, you made a comment about disciplining children. When I responded, you told me that I don't know whether you are for or against spanking kids. Fair point, hence I am asking. If you don't want to disclose that, your choice. It is not really a hard question. I am sure you are proud of your choice, either way.

First my comment in disciplining children is in direct response to your assertion in the original post which I copied and deposit here It was allowed in the feudal age. What do you think? Now that we have established that parents should be allowed to belt their kids, why not employers As to my thoughts on corporal punishment, it's simply none of your business.

In a day and age where "Test Anxiety" is a recognized disability that college professors actually have to recognize and deal with-- don't be too sure you know the definition of "lasting harm".

and of course, there's a HUGE difference between "belting" a child (which to me is either using a belt on them or a fist.. either of which is too harsh) and spanking with your hand...

YOU made this comment below. It was allowed in the feudal age. What do you think? Now that we have established that parents should be allowed to belt their kids, why not employers? my point is that spanking and belting are not the same thing.. so while your title is about spanking, your post is about something rather more abusive than that.

My dear friend, I don't see you go topic to topic and ask for a point, now do I?
Now, I am totally OK with everyone having to clearly state a point of their point in the OP. Is that how it works here? I am happy to follow it.
Anyway, I already stated the point. People who abuse kids in the name of the Bible, or some other horse excrement, are really despicable, not to mention criminals in the eyes of the law. I like it that way. Thank goodness for laws in the USA protecting kids, just as there are laws protecting employees.
Now, why are some people against spanking employees but for spanking kids? It is quite simple. They know that they would be the ones getting spanked if employers were given the right to spank. They are minions at work, and take that frustration out on their kids when they come home.
Pathetic. And once again, thank goodness for the laws.
