That man could speak. He had intellect, and even if i don't agree with everything he said/did, and even if i don't see him as the faultless panacea that some seem to, he was a smart man, with a good manner, who did not eschew logic... ?? would he really be impressed by this years GOP offerings?

I was in a Toastmaster group once. We'd have get-togethers ever so often and drink and eat an chew the fat, and tell jokes. It got so all the jokes everybody knew had been told so many times we finally just put numbers on them. When somebody wanted to tell a joke they just called out the number and the response was like you'd get from actually hearing the joke itself. This Reagan joke was numbered 429.

But we had one little old shy guy that just couldn't bring himself to join in. He said just never did learn how to talk in front of so many people. One night after he was lubricated pretty good somebody asked him to tell us a joke. So he rolled his head around a little bit, and said naw, a coulple of times and everybody just egged him on until he finally said "Okay, you asked for it, NUMBER 429!!!" But nobody laughed. Broke his heart. He quit the group.

Some people just don't know hiow to tell a joke.

Maybe it's the delivery from a terrorist that I don't find funny, it's like watching Osama, Clinton, Bush or Obama tell an airline hijacking joke.

the insulting part is due to the inference that liberals are too stupid to get it the first time.. so in that regard, i don't think it really matters what your political association is. put anything there and it's still insulting.

Well, see I’m in trouble again. I post a video of a dead former president telling about the decadence of farmers in highly Democrat portions of the country and what is scattered about their property, and it causes terrible things to be said.. Both it and I are referred to in awful terms, including decadent and stupid. And the politician in it gets called "the biggest anti-American terrorist to ever hold office in this country" It makes me shiver. I wonder what would have happened if I had posted something about a living president who spends more than half his weekends on the golf course and has a 17 handicap.

I’m even happier I didn’t question whether the handicap was figured from the men’s tee or the women’s tee, or ask about the course slope. The answers might get me called even worse names. But of course this thread shows it’s okay for liberals to do that, call people names. But when a conservative counters, the post gets deleted. I wonder if that happens on other forums. Seems I notice quite a bit of it on this one.

But , , maybe I’m just so close to being one of them that, like most liberals, I may have become overly sensitive to having any of the shortcomings of the nations' heroes pointed out.

Sorry but compared to the stuff normally written on these boards the reading it twice was almost a complement. I've got a feeling that you just reacted to that comment because of something within you (that's not meant to be a cut. I REALLY really over react to being called a baby killer because to me, someone who harms a child or an animal is the lowest thing (not person) on earth).

I would also point out that lately the boards have been "strange". There for a while what I typed was not what appeared in my post. Sometimes it was unrelated letters & sometimes it was words that were different. Also during that time (& it lasted a lot longer) I wasn't able to use icons like a smiley face. So many of my joking statements might have been taken as serious because I didn't type "it's a joke" behind them. Just saying.....
