I'm neither a conservative nor liberal, however,.... I don't find it insulting....it just shows how really ignorant some people are about other people in the world, how really narrow their views are and how stubborn they can be about what anyone else might think. It also kind of proves to me that they do lots of talking in places like this but do very little in the "real" world to change anything they think is wrong. What I mean is...how involved are they in local community activities or their local political parties? How many letters to the editor do they write? How often do they contact their congress persons to voice opinions or make suggestions? It is easy to come to places like this and type all kinds of things without getting down in the trenches and really doing something! And besides all of that....I saw what was in the link when it actually happened on TV...so just another re-run! And don't forget that Reagan was a democrat before he was a republican.

the insulting part is due to the inference that liberals are too stupid to get it the first time.. so in that regard, i don't think it really matters what your political association is. put anything there and it's still insulting. Sorry but ... Then you aren't really sorry.

I didn't take it as an insult at all, more a compliment! Conservative reasoning does require a good deal of thought to understand. Read the welfare rat thread!

Yeah, you sure did. Your point being that you shouldn't have to pay anything into the system while you were healthy and working...now that you are injured, we get to pick up the tab!
Have fun!

And don't forget that Reagan was a democrat before he was a republican. We "cured" him & yet we haven't found a cure for cancer....Who would have thunk it? the insulting part is due to the inference that liberals are too stupid to get it the first time.. so in that regard, i don't think it really matters what your political association is. put anything there and it's still insulting.
Sorry but ... Then you aren't really sorry.Billisonboard, I didn't say it in the first place. So......

I thought it was funny the first time I heard it a very long time ago. I did think his delivery was a little awkward having to read what someone else wrote. Nevertheless, not bad for a democrat that turned republican because he couldn’t win any other way.

This is what people forget. Regan was actually a Dem. Then he became senile and went over to the Reps.

President Reagan's Alzheimers (and not senility ~ those are different medical conditions) manifested and was diagnosed decades after he became a registered Republican.

It's true. Reagan was once a very liberal, (for that time in our history), Democrat. It was Nancy Davis that put him onto a more traditional way of thinking. By way of showing his gratitude for her insights he married her and changed her name to Nancy Reagan.
But in 1958, before he saw the light and changed parties he was giving a speech at a Democrat fund raiser in California. It was recorded, but not on video or film. You see, for those too young to realize it, the world is changing faster than you may want to know about, because, , , get this: As little as 50 years ago they didn't have portable video tape, handycams were not invented yet, and the event wasn't a big enough draw to be covered by a film crew capable of covering it with sound.
But as a loyal Democrat he wanted to fit in with the mood of the crowd. He looked out at the crowd and said he was surprised that so many people had come out to hear a "prominent Democrat" speak until he was told why so may showed up. He said he heard the word was out that there would be a Republican tarred and feathered at the event tonight.
Now, see there. I already told you a couple of days ago: Some people just don't know how to tell a joke.
However it is no joke that Reagan also said something else. He said he didn't leave the Democratic party. He said he was still the same person, and that the Democratic Party had left him.

Just filling in some of the blanks, Marsha, but thanks.
And PS, wouldn't it be a better country if we had some more Democrats that think like Reagan?

And here I thought the country would be better if republicans, democrats, conservatives and liberals would all agree to enforce the constitution instead of parts of it. Silly me.
