Finally caught up on the last few pages, you ladies have been very productive!
We just wrapped DS1's travel baseball season this weekend, so minus 2 (1 game each) all star baseball tournaments he's playing in July, we are officially finished with all outside obligations for the summer! I am very happy- we have only managed to use our pool 4 times since we opened it. I am ready to not leave my house for awhile. H is off until July 6th, we kicked around the idea of a small, closer to home vacation but I just don't know if I want to do anymore driving and hotel stays (we've been in hotels the last 3 weekends for baseball). I am sure I will figure out something fun to do with the kids and H before he returns to work. In the meantime, I plan to spend a lot of my time in the pool doing NOTHING. And getting caught up on the little tasks around the house I've been wanting to do. I plan to sit all of my FREE, PLEASE TAKE THIS stuff in the garage out on the curb tomorrow. It should go quickly and that will be a BIG to do off my list. I want to purchase a shelving unit for the garage to put our sports equipment in one place, and then the garage cleaning will be complete! Hallelujah!
Now my basement... that's another story lol

I just realized that there's only a dozen of us on this board. It makes me a bit sad, knowing that just a decade ago, we had so many people that we needed five boards to keep track of them all. Can I encourage you all to share about the WIRR on your other social media outlets? Let's get us some fresh new "faces" this summer. I didn't realize it had dwindled down so low. That really is sad.

So we managed to get 95% of the garage cleaned up over Memorial Day weekend. I've even managed to sell about $300 worth of random crap we had sitting out there to get rid of- including our old living room furniture. That freed up an entire corner! I want to purchase another nice garage shelving unit for that corner to store all of our baseball/travel ball gear. Then it will be in one place instead of all over. We got the pool opened and have managed to swim ONE whole time lol. After this weekend, our lives slow down. I am very much looking forwards to lots of pool days ahead.
I still need to tackle the flower beds. That was a memorial day weekend goal as well, but that didn't even come close to happening.

Knee Deep in Water Chloe- that is GORGEOUS! Re: sticky fingered neighbors: We do have a fence up that runs in line with the back of the garage. It can't go any farther back because of the alley. There is only about a 3 foot section of yard between the garage and the alley. chiver78- We have several Ring cameras on the house now, just not on the garage. I told H I would love to add one to the back side of it now. If for nothing else, it would be aimed on our back gate.

I got the house tidied up so that we can spend the 3 day weekend working outside and in the garage. My goals are to finish cleaning up the flower beds, get the pool opened, re-spray the weeds I missed in the driveway, take a load of junk to the dumpster, and to get at least 1 corner of the garage cleaned up and organized. Here's a funny/annoying story that is semi decluttering related: We have a flower bed behind our garage. An alley runs behind our garage as well, and we have neighbors across the alley. I have never liked these neighbors as they love to burn garbage in their trash cans in the alley (despite it being illegal to do that here). They have melted several spots in the back of our garage siding and ruined many a "windows open its a beautiful day" for us. Anyway, along my flower bed I have our old vegetable garden landscape timbers. H drove rebar through each end to help them stay put. We really only go out behind the garage to mow, so I planted hostas, vinca, and varigated grasses that are super low maintenance and have filled in the entire bed. I had to go behind the garage the other day and I noticed 2 of our landscape timbers were missing. They didn't just roll away because of the rebar. I just happened to look in the backyard across the alley and what did I see in their burn pile next to their little fire pit? My timbers, with the rebar still sticking out of them. Angry me wanted to march over there and take them back. And I had planned to once the sun had started to set. Other things took my attention and I forgot about them for a few days. I texted my sister, who is married to the chief of police here, to ask what I could do. He told me to go take them back, and if anything was said, to call him and he would come down. Well, I walked out there to go get them only to find that the neighbor had already cut them into small pieces for his stupid firepit table. I am ordering a sign that says something in regards to "smile you are on camera" and hanging it on the back of my garage. I have 2 timbers left. I will definitely be watching them closely to see if they grow legs and walk across the alley as well. The NERVE of people. So I decluttered some landscape items against my will.

Well H and I went in to May with high hopes of mindful spending... and that's about as far as it went. I am taking extra steps these last days of the month to prepare to try again in June.

NikiZ628 (5): 5/14/22 $18,725.87 (9/22/21 $24,768.37 WIR271)I got my first $0.00 inside of this race- we paid off the remaining balance on our swimming pool! Between this zero and paying off my SUV we have now freed up $740.00 a month in minimum payments! Best Buy did go up a bit, H purchased a drone- because he's a nerd and wanted one for baseball/work/play. He literally NEVER impulse buys anything, I think the last time he did was like 10 years ago. So, I figure a $350 purchase isn't something to loose sleep over when it's only happening once a decade lol. It's a 0% promo as well, so it's costing us nothing to carry it for now. It will be paid off well before the promo expires. Our next big tackle is the Care Credit. Our 0% ended in January, so now it's 26.99%. The minimum is $165 a month but I try and pay more than that whenever possible. It's costing us $100 a month to carry this balance, so we plan to get this one paid down as quickly as possible now. I need TMJ treatment, but it's going to cost $6,000. So, until I pay off his orthodontics, I am in the waiting zone for my own work.

I have been able to finish getting the front yard cleaned up and looking lovely. All I need to do to mark it finished is seal the cedar window boxes and porch posts like I do each spring. My window boxes are planted and look great! The porch furniture is clean, weeds have been pulled/sprayed, and I've got some flowers potted and put out as well. I always try and get the front yard done first when we are swamped with baseball- because it's what people see when they drive by. I started on the backyard today, but a pop up storm with hail and a crazy downpour halted that real quick.

Coming up for air! Hello, it's been a bit. I have no clue where April went, it's been a whirlwind of busy around here. I spent the entire day today just getting caught up on things around the house- lots of laundry, cleaning out the fridge, cleaning the boys' dirty shoes (only 26 days until school is out, I just want these shoes to make it looking halfway decent lol). I even replaced the guts of our 2nd toilet. In all of the DIY things we have tackled, this was a first for me. I was pretty proud of myself to finally have fixed the toilet that leaked into the bowl, so it would constantly run if we didn't shut the water line off. I also finally replaced the dead batteries in our keypad deadbolt. We couldn't lock the backdoor from the outside.
I am healing nicely from my surgery. I still have a lot of discomfort in my elbow, especially if I over do it. Unfortunately, I don't know if I am overdoing it until it's too late, so I am just very focused on any actions involving my arm. My wrist gets tender from time to time, but overall it's not causing me too much discomfort. I will be happy to have a fully functioning arm again.
My goals for this week are to just get things back in order, get my paper pile sorted/shredded/filed, and to try and tackle one bag of random junk in the garage. The garage has been the catch all of all the things we want to get rid of. I wish I would have been more organized when bagging it and taking it out there. Now it's literally a giant pile of trash bags, boxes, and misc items right in the middle of the garage floor. It would be a multi day, non stop project to tackle it all at once, so I am hoping that by breaking it down to a bag or two a day, I can actually get it done. I am ready to have my garage back to a clean and organized space.

I am not even sure where April went- we've been so busy it just flew by. H and I are dubbing this "Mindful May" with the goal of being more mindful with money, life choices, health for the next month.

nikiz628 that's quite a marathon! Good luck, and remember to be kind to yourself! Do you and DH both attend everything? Might it make sense for you to take turns skipping the occasional event to regroup/catch up on household stuff? This weekend - get DH's second present/Fri - Shitepile/Sat - wrap DH's gifts/Sat Well, every team plays 2 games per week. So that means just as parents alone, we are there 4 nights a week. I try and jump in to run the concession stand on the 5th night, since I am the concession manager. On Fridays, there is a "late game" after the first game, so my oldest is either playing in that one or I am in the concession. I have already started to swap off with H on things regarding the prep because I can't really do much while I recover from my surgery. But even splitting up duties, I am still there 5 nights a week. I think this is why we love DS1's travel ball life so much more. We just get to be mom and dad there and it's only on weekends.

DS1's travel baseball began last weekend, so we are officially in that time of year that is pure chaos. League ball begins the day after Easter, so H and I have been busy getting all the i's dotted and the t's crossed for the season. We absolutely love being board members (he is the President of the board again this year). We love the families and the kids so much. We've really busted our behinds to rebuild this program into a place that feels inclusive of all. The previous board was very much "im in this to benefit my own child at whatever expense" and the league rep took a huge hit. It's not been a tough task, but we are slowly seeing people return. But this was the first year H and I seriously considered walking away. If I didn't love the kids so much, and worry about who we are leaving in charge, we would have. To say that a few newer board members are the rotten apples in the bunch is an understatement, and constantly keeping them in check is exhausting. (They have openly admitted they are in it to give their kids all the advantages-- insert eye roll here). Our oldest has 1 year left before he ages out, but DS2 has like 6 years left- so it's been a great internal debate. If you've been around this thread long enough, you know how much of a time suck this is for us. Every year I go in more and more organized and prepared to try and make it as smooth as possible until July. Story time was long, so here's the whole point of my post lol, my to do list from now until Easter:
Finish organizing master closet- 1 more rod of clothes to sort through. Finish moving equipment and misc into my new work area- surgery pretty much halted this Finish preparing freezer meals- I have about a week's worth done so far. Take all of the misc. items we plan to donate/sell to the garage until I can devote a big block of time to getting them where they need to be Make vet appt Make my annual appt Coordinate calendars with H so he knows exactly what is coming up Set up bill pay/budget for the next 3-4 months Shred the paper pile Clean out my window boxes and flower beds Seed bare patches in yard Finish setting up the concession stand- it's been deep cleaned, I just need to move all of the Sam's Club deliveries from my dining room to the concession Shampoo LR couches- they are the LAST things in the house that need the deep clean Clean out my car/Add in baseball season equipment Make a bank visit Pay off my SUV (H wants to do this in person, but our loan is actually through a bank in Illinois, so we will have to set a little chunk of time to go, thankfully its like a 30 minute drive ) Stay on top of all business orders Put together Easter baskets for my kids Probably a few more things that I am blanking on at the moment
And most importantly, remind myself to stop and come up for air as needed. It won't be the end of the world if most of these things do not get done- but completing them will make my life easier.

My H cut off my cast Wednesday. I had a brief panic attack once it was off because I was scared I was going to bump the sutures on something. I have to change the bandages 2 times a day until 3/23 when the doctor removes the sutures. H bought some self adhesive gauze wrap to wrap around the areas. It gives me piece of mind because its an extra layer covering it- plus its visible to others so they don't bump into me. I haven't gone out much since surgery because even now I get very wore out doing little things. I attended a fundraiser Bingo Thursday night with no issues with bumping and we went for a grocery run yesterday and did okay too. I am slowly regaining range of motion in that hand but I am definitely not pushing it.

Glad you're recovering well, nikiz628 . I hope you get uninterrupted sleep tonight. Unfortunately no, but I will have a quiet house today if I want to squeeze in a nap.

Post surgery recovery is going well. I’m pleasantly surprised that there’s been very little pain, just mild discomfort that meds are handling beautifully. I ended up with a bright pink arm cast as my “immobilizer”, but it’s not a hard one so not too bad. I can actually cut it off myself after Wednesday. Then another week of keeping the stitches clean (changing the dressings twice a day). I go on the 23rd to have those removed. I’ll find out if my no weight bearing restriction will be adjusted that day as well.
H had taken a few days off to help me. He goes back to work tomorrow (I guess today cause it’s 3am here). This will be my first stretch of time solo. It’s amazing how exhausted I get just doing a simole task. Sitting on the side of the tub to wash myself wipes me out. I threw some clothes in the washer and then transferred them slowly with my one arm to the dryer and I needed a nap 🤣
My biggest complaint is that I just can’t sleep. I’m a right side and belly snoozer so I’m struggling to get comfy while keeping this arm elevated. I spend my nights bouncing between the recliner and the couch. But if that’s the worst of this whole ordeal, I won’t complain much.

T minus 5 days until I finally have my surgery. So, I am in full prep mode (again) trying to get everything updated/completed/cleaned/organized before Wednesday.
*My goals for the next 4 days: *Clean the entire house *Finish and fold all laundry *Vac out my car (I washed it yesterday, it was covered in salt and dry mud) *Schedule all bill payments *Balance the checkbook *Meal prep or at least have an updated weekly menu for H to go off of *Set up my recovery area for after surgery *Finish all the open orders for my business/Ship any that need it *Schedule social media posts for my business page for the next 2 weeks *Pack my tote bag for Little League assessment day on Sunday- i will be at the facility all day coordinating assessment times for all of the age groups in the league *Run any last minute errands
And of course, psyche myself up for surgery and recovery. From what I was told, my right arm will be fully immobilized for 2 weeks until my follow up/stitch removal. I am right handed so I am not looking forward to making lefty do all the work for me.

Eliminating those 2 debts alone frees up $740 a month in "minimum payments", so I am very excited to add some momentum to our race!
