I've been looking at houseporn on realtor.com for Indianapolis but I don't think that I'll be able to really trek over there for at least another month. What I net from selling the house should pay off most of the CC and then I'd like to pay off the rest of it with what used to be my mortgage payment. After that, the plan is to put it in savings. Thankfully, if I use a VA loan, I won't have to put any money down on my next house. So, no, not moving before "calendar" spring. What area are you looking at in Indy? I lived downtown for a little while. I have a friend who lives in Greenwood right now and loves it. Another lives in the Fishers/Carmel area and loves it too (although that area is pricier).

Funeral home misplaced death certificate. Sister is pissed and is going to call the director. She said the woman she talked to was quite snooty about it, like it was our fault they misplaced the death certificate. They have had it since December 31. Sister received copies yesterday and took a copy to attorney. Court has appointed her executor so newspaper notice is being readied. She still doesn't know how to scan. Good lord. 🙄

Yay DH just bought me my Christmas present! He bought me a pair of lovely fuzzy slippers but told me he owed me another present. I told him I wanted a sweater. Tonight I mentioned to DH that one of the staff members I teach has a gorgeous SAD lamp. I asked her about it, she proudly told me it cost 130 euros ($143) and sent me the link. I said it's very pretty, but that's pricey for me. She said, I understand, but I like pretty things. It was a really nice-looking lamp, but at that price, no way. I checked online several times, hoping it would go on sale. No luck. Tonight, SCORE!!! Not a sale, but I found the exact same lamp elsewhere on Amazon, for 69 euros ($77)! DH just ordered it for me, for Christmas. :-) Unlike that staff member, I do NOT have an office or even a desk at work. I'll set it up on the LR low table where I check my email/drink my coffee before work. Do any of you have a SAD lamp? Does it help? Frankly I've wanted one for years, but I was never sure whether it really did anything. She kindly put it in the middle of her desk to show me. I felt so good after our class!
At more or less half-price, now I can find out for myself. :-) I had to google what a SAD lamp is.. but now that I see what it does I think it would help me a lot.

As suspected, my dr called in an RX for 50,000 iu of D once a week for the next month. She told me at my follow up yesterday that in her entire career, she's only had 1 other patient with a lower vitamin D level than I currently have. That was shocking. It's the lowest I've ever had (12.8, lowest before was 15). They want it at least at 30 but ideally between 60-70, so I've got a ways to go. I told her to just write me a RX for a week long trip to a sunny beach. She thought that was hilarious.
In the mean time, I am over here dealing with the affects of the low level (and my thyroid levels being crap again). Every joint in my body is screaming, I can't lift my arms above my head for more than a moment or two, which is making hair washing and brushing super fun. Even my jaw hurts to chew. The brain fog is super great, I am forgetting what I am talking about mid sentence and trying to formulate thoughts into words is tedious. And the fatigue is just off the chart. I am napping constantly. But I told H I need to quit beating myself up about needing to rest. Obviously my body is demanding it. The doctor told me I will be miserable for a little while longer but that she's determined to get me feeling good again. I need to remind myself to be gentle with my body and listen to it. It's not laziness. It's not using the issues as a crutch. It's my health.
That being said, I am staying on top of house cleaning and cooking when I am getting little bursts of motivation. So at least I am not falling behind on my tasks.

I've been super busy but can say we have spent $0 to date on non essential spending (since we started our NS on 1/6). Going back on WW on the 6th has really helped, and so has declaring it a No fast food month. They also did away with $1 tacos at our local Mexican restaurant (meat prices went up), so our little Tuesday dinner group is trying to figure out how we will proceed with our weekly date night together. Someone mentioned just rotating houses and I loved the idea. I would only have to cook for 11 every 3 weeks so it wouldn't be too bad at all.

Put on my big girl panties Monday and scheduled my check up for my thyroid, my dental cleaning, and my annual exam. I was overdue on all these things. I was able to get in Tuesday for the thyroid check up and I am glad I did. My TSH was up. My vitamin D bottomed out (12.8, needs to be at least 30), my triglcyerides were super high, and my MCH was low. She adjusted my thyroid meds and added an RX for 50,000 iu of D for 6 weeks until I go back for a recheck on all my labs. I am working on the triglyceride issue myself because that's mostly a dietary fix at this point. I went back on WW Monday so I anticipate that will help immensely.
I have a follow up with her in a week to discuss the lab results but to also revisit my depression/anxiety med. The SSRI I am on now has caused me to gain 24 lbs since my last visit in the fall. She said they are notorious for causing fatigue and weight gain. And with my low red blood cells, my low D, and my underactive thyroid, I don't need any help making me tired. She also asked me if I had ever had a sleep test done to rule out sleep apnea since I NEVER wake up feeling rested. So I anticipate she is going to send me for that as well.
The dental appt isn't til March, my annual is scheduled for next month. I feel very adulty this week.

Finished the bathroom floor! Pictures are here: imgur.com/gallery/T3iadJkIt took 2 weeks but there were a couple days in there I didn’t work on it at all. I’ll glue in the transition piece this weekend and then the whole bath gets a deep clean soon. The yard work also started today and so far my dogs have tracked in half the mud from the back. Tomorrow I have some work to do in the driveway, cleaning up flower pots, cutting down scrap wood and painting the garage door. In addition to tossing some old things, I also have the gardener my old grill! One less thing to take to the and it still works but I never use it. I’ll give the propane tank back to my dad when they visit. Amazing job!!!

Emily Ley 2020 Simplicity Challenge www.facebook.com/emilyleypaper/Our Annual Simplicity Challenge is HERE!#ASimplifiedLife #SimplicityChallenge2020. 1 step every day for 30 days. Each one takes 15 minutes or less. Day 1 - Walk your home with a trash bag or five. Be ruthless. Papers. Receipts. Tags. Empty bottles. Go. Day 2 - Clean out your fridge. Check expiration dates and throw things away. Day 3 - Clear the clutter from your nightstand. Day 4 - Simplify your phone. Delete old contacts and unused apps. Refresh your lock screen. Day 5 - Make a list of anything that needs restocked in your bathroom. Restock what you can from items you already have in your house (if possible), or add to your next grocery list. Shopping your house first is a great trick we should all try when possible this year. I often “shop” other rooms in my house when I’m redecorating a room. I need to try incorporating that concept when it comes to other things too.

I balance my accounts every week. Do you mean that you do it by hand with a paper ledger? Yes. I've always done it that way. My kids laugh at me lol. 🙋🏼♀️ I still use a paper register for my checkbook too! Probably for the same reason I prefer a paper planner over my smartphone calendar.

Minnesotagirl7, regular list price was estimated to be $161,000 but I would have to spend many more thousands of dollars to bring the house's condition up to that price so I'm okay with the as-is price. We haven't had a Galactic State of the Union since 2012. It would be awesome to see another one. I miss being a “weapon of Mass Debstruction” 😂

I'll also be decluttering my social media exposure. Every three or four days, I have been turning my cell phone off and not turning my computer on so that I force myself to take a break from them. Sunday will be my second time, this year, doing this. I'm curious to see what I accomplish as a result of doing this. I'll be cleaning off the table/desk in my room tomorrow. Since it's the only raised, flat surface in the room, it collects all the paper and magazines and such that I get. I haven't cleaned it since I got back on Tuesday so it's definitely due. Bought no new clothes today, despite stops at both Target and Dillards. It was tough but I stayed focused on the things that I actually there to get. Oh boy, I need to do this as well. I can’t completely break from social media because of a few reasons: 1. I run DS1’s schools PTO fb page. I also run the Little League fb page. 2. So many things DS1 is in involved in use sm for updates, etc. But I had mentioned to H that I would love to implement screen free hours at least a few times a week and see how it goes. Good luck with your own SM “declutter”.

Today I paid bills, balanced the checkbook (by the way, I'm the only person I know who does this) and did a bunch of laundry. Kind of a slow day around here. I didn't even go outside. I balance my checkbook every pay week.

I never take our Christmas decor down this early (I usually wait until Epiphany), but we bought new living room furniture Monday and I just needed to get the room back in order. Somehow, in the process of taking the tree apart, I threw my back out/pulled or pinched something. I've been on a heating pad all evening. I had H hand me my drawers out of my closet so I can start going through my stuff. Trying to be productive while I am stuck on my butt.

Peter Walsh 31 Days to Get Organized Challenge #31Days2GetOrganized2020 m.facebook.com/PeterWalsh/ Day 1 of #31Days2GetOrganized2020: Walk around your house and see where it is that clutter has built up - kitchen cabinets, closets, garages, whatever it is, make a list of those, and a mental note of the type of clutter that you see being your biggest stumbling block to being organized and clutter free. Day 2 of #31Days2GetOrganized2020: Do you know what "Memory Clutter" is? It’s clutter we don’t want to get rid of because we’re worried we will lose the memory of we get rid of the thing. Walk around your house and make list of the memory clutter so you have a sense of how much memory clutter you have. #31Days2GetOrganized2020 #ItsAllTooMuch #LetItGo Day 3 of #31Days2GetOrganized2020: It's great to hold onto items that evoke strong positive memories - UNLESS there's so much of it that it's crowding out you living your best life today. Understanding ZONES and LIMITS is key. #31Days2GetOrganized #ItsAllTooMuch #LetItGo This is the day 3 recap from the video: Focus on memory clutter. You should have an idea of memory clutter in your home and what you would like to deal with it. Look at where you are going to store the memory clutter items and how much space you have to store the items, whether that is kids' photos or memorabilia or things you have inherited. Look at and designate an area or zone for storage, and how much space you have to store the items in that area/zone. Now you need to start whittling down the items to not just good but great items that bring great memories and great joy. I'm going to throw out that so far, I don't love the 31 days challenge this year. I'm feeling uninspired and unmotivated, which bums me out because usually I like his challenges, and they're simple enough that I can fit them in, or do 2 on a one day if I miss a day.
I agree. They seem way more touchy feely than the action plans he used to give. Maybe you could go back and redo last years from the beg of last year's thread?
No kidding, lets get to the ACTUAL de-cluttering already!

Of course I am in again! This year, I won't be setting a goal to match the year. I haven't even come close the past two years setting 2,018 and 2,019 items as a goal, so I know I won't this year.
So for 2020, my goal is 1,000 items.
We are always way too busy in the spring for "spring cleaning", so I do all of that deep deep cleaning and organizing now. I need to get my to do lists together and then I will post them.

Okay, I think we finally have some financial savings goals set for 2020! 1. E.F. to $2,000. It took a big hit in 2019 (still thankful it was there) so it will be a rebuilding year. 2. DS1's savings to $2,200. This is funded by birthday/gifted money, piggy bank cash ins, and $100 we give each kid out of our tax return. 3. DS2's savings to $850.00. Again, this is funded by birthday/gifted money, piggy bank cash ins, and $100 we give each kid out of our tax return. 4. Start a vacation fund. 2020 Savings | START | CURRENT | GOAL | STILL NEED | Emergency Fund | $1,000.00 | $1,000.00 | $2,000.00 | $1,000.00 | DS1's Savings | $1,960.29 | $1,960.29 | $2,200.00 | 239.71 | DS2's Savings | $734.55 | $734.55 | $850.00 | 115.45 | TOTALS | 3,694.84 | 3,694.84 | 5,050.00 | 1,355.16 |
NikiZ628 1/2/20 $3,694.84 (Goal $7,300 WIRS2)

Im in again! We are holding off on starting any of our New Year's goals/resolutions until Monday. With DS1 being out of school until then, and all of us being way off our normal routine, implementing any changes right now will be next to impossible.
So our NS month will kick off on 1/6!

The choas of the holiday caught me and I kind of lost track of the last week or so re: spending/not spending. I am extending myself some grace and I am not going to stress out trying to figure out what I spent on what day lol. I will just call Decembers tracking a wash and start fresh in January- we are really excited to get some new financial goals set and hit the ground running!

I have to call dad’s bank in the morning as he is owed one last pension check. I don’t want them to reject it. That happened to mom’s pension. I have a plant in my car that will not be coming in the house. Sister will have to pick it up since it’s from her friends. Everything else is waiting and phone is going on silent. I need rest, peace and quiet Yes, please do and enjoy that silence.

You ever have so much to do that you just take a nap? Yeah, that's been me lately. My house is clean enough to get us to Christmas, thankfully we don't do any hosting. I had been finishing up the last of my homemade Christmas gifts so my house looked like Hobby Lobby exploded in it. We are baking Christmas cookies tonight with the kids, so I had to get my kitchen cleaned up anyway. Now I need to sit down and organize the pile of receipts from the last week of last minute shopping. I keep a sheet of what I would've spent vs. what I actually spent (love tracking my deals), so I can get two running totals every year. I love seeing how much money I save, plus it helps me set a budget for the next Christmas based on what I spent this year. If I can get this done today, I will be a happy girl.

Her kids are fine. If nothing else we have DNephew3's girlfriend who has been cracking jokes constantly. I happen to often do the same thing at wakes and funerals. Most folks appreciate it lightening up the mood. I do this as well. I think it's my coping mechanism for the tension/sadness in the room.

TheOtherMe- I am sorry to read of your dad’s passing but I am so thankful he went quickly. Please take comfort in knowing that you have been and always will be a true blessing to that man. The care you have shown him, the absolute love and concern for his well being, did not go unnoticed by him (even when he was not all quite there, he knew). You did everything and more for him, you are truly an incredible human being. ❤️ Sending you lots of love and peace through the coming days and weeks. Echoing what others have said, please lean on us as often as you need. We are ALWAYS here for you.

I am so glad that I didn't plan to go anywhere in December! I talked to my realtor today about listing in March and she would like to re-list in early January Turns out the market is really hot right now and if we can do the new photos in late December/first week of January then we can go on the market as soon as it looks strong. So here's my rest of the year house to do list: 1. Re-paint the master bath paneling (white) 2. Touch up walls in master bath and guest bath (blue) 3. Lay new tiles in the master bath (Dec 20th) 4. Cut back the rose bushes for winter 5. Glue down all of the transition pieces (again) 6. Fix the porcelain chip in the bathtub 7. Paint the gold trim around the bathtub (white) 8. Replace the torn tile behind the toilet in the guest bath 9. Touch up ceiling paint as needed 10. Clean up all of the pots and containers on the side yard 11. Power wash the side yard, front porch and house siding 12. Do another coat of paint on the garage doors (if I get 2 dry days) 13. Ask my cousin if I can store the Cadillac at their garage in January 14. Finish packing the garage and neatly stack the boxes 15. Work with realtor on staging for photos You got this!!!

The cleaning team lead sent me a text, threatening me with legal action. Oh, fun!
