GodDamnItAllTo Hell! The pain is back, with a vengeance. Now it's my pelvis, both hips, both shins, both knees, both feet and both sides of my butt. I didn't sleep a wink last night, and finally Sushi got fed up and went to sleep on the couch in the living room. This is a beast that would sell his furry little soul in order to sleep with Mom. I just can't anymore.....
If this keeps up, I will ask for Medical Assistance in Dying.

DH was excited that his work was going to send him to a national conference (NAEYC) for early childhood (EC) educators. They got a state grant for continuing education. The powers that be have decided to open a lottery to blindly send 3 people at random using survey monkey. Questions include agreeing to travel as a group by rental car and agreeing to share a room. Work travel should never include sharing a room. Plus, it's very interesting as he's one of two guys in the 40 EC staff across the two EC buildings. No meal budget - again stingy for work travel. One spot will be given to an admin. This seems useless to me - why do they need continuing ed when they don't teach? He's disappointed by the process and the lack of consideration by seniority. Someone who was just hired could get picked and turnover is such that they might leave within months whereas he's been there 10 yrs. He's still going to apply and see what happens. So last night he began pitching that he attend anyway and we pay out of pocket. Selfishly, I just can't get on board with ROI on these expenses even though we can afford it. Plus, I just think it sets a bad precedent of them expecting him to pay for stuff like this. He nets $2200/month and this would cost $2000. What say you, people of YMAM? Registration $400 Hotel $1250 Travel StL to Nashville ?? Parking ? Meals for 4-5 days Another grant is going to send his co-teacher to Italy to study the origins of the Reggio education system. He's glad she's going and wouldn't want to travel internationally but why was that one limited to a certain person? And, I can't help but cynically think why spend that much on one experience especially in light of video conferencing. He's been there 10 years and he only nets $2,200 a month? What's wrong with this picture?

When my old guy Romeo (RIP) was having trouble getting in bed, I did use a case of canned cat food. It worked just fine for him. I turned over his rigid cat carrier and added a thick towel. It's pretty sturdy.

I am still really out of sorts and nervous. I have to go to the urology surgery center tomorrow for them to poke around in my bladder. If the results of abdominal and pelvis CT I had in January did not show whatever they want to specifically see, they’ll do another one tomorrow too. I haven’t told anybody about my appointment tomorrow, except Mister, and I won’t tell him what it’s for, I don’t want to talk about it because I’m scared. Scared of what they might find, or scared to add anything to Mister's already overflowing plate? Anyway..... It's Gonna be Alright

I feel like I've been busy, but haven't really done anything. I did some grocery shopping, cleaned the litter box, repotted some plants and changed the sheets on the bed. I finally put my mattress topper on the bed, and Sushi hates it. He was having trouble jumping up on the bed in his senior years, bur now the bed is higher, and he can't make it. I'm going to have to think of something, like maybe a box filled with books, so he can have an easier time of it. I have an antique ottoman by the sofa, and he uses it all the time.

NomoreDramaQ1015 I don't the trauma I felt over my dad's death will ever go away. The anniversary dates of the death of my parents get to me every year. So does their birthdays. Christmas is hard because my mom loved Christmas I don't remember the dates of my parents' deaths or even the years. I think that's very telling, about my relationship with them. If I ever need to know, I'll look it up online in the obits.

Weltz- How'd your appt go? Are you still with us?I was furious. My orthopedic doctor sent the consult to the Ortho Clinic. I was there for 4 hours. It's nothing but hurry up and wait. When the resident finally looked at my MRI, he proclaimed "Oh, you have very severe spinal stenosis." I KNOW that! He asked me if I wanted spinal injections. Been there, done that. He asked me if I wanted surgery. That's a big NO. So he wrote a consult to the Pain Management Clinic. I thught that's where I was going today. What a waste of time and money!. I had to take taxis there and back....$45. I'm not happy. Ugh. That's so frustrating, in so many ways. Time, money and to not have any more help, or answers than you had BEFORE you went. You're absolutely correct. What a waist! I would not be happy, either. To jump through all those hoops, for no apparent reason. (Was there a reason you had to do all of that, that you know of?) I'm sorry. It was a waste in every possible way. If I didn't go, she'd know about it, and I'd be a 'difficult patient". She may not even write me any further consults if I didn't go. She could even not renew some of my meds since I was 'uncooperative'.

No they won't. Jackson is quite a picky eater. Bear won't eat things that are in bigger pieces. They are just as picky as people. ETA: Also Luna will eat around absolutely everything you try to put a pill in. You have to almost force it down her. When it comes to dog food, both of my dogs are picky eaters. I am literally feeding them different brands of food, but both have sensitive stomachs. But they're not picky when it comes to eating things like bugs, or grass... My sister's black lab will eat ALL the people food, and then eat the napkins for good measure.

Cats aren't fooled by that. well, his dinner isn't just a bowl of kibble, either. so it does blend in nicely. I've posted about it before, but this week (with a Bravecto dose) it's been shredded chicken breast, white rice, blueberries, diced cukes, over a pile of shredded lettuce for bulk volume and minimal calories, all tossed in salmon oil and topped with a dollop of pumpkin puree. so, I think the meds got buried well enough. Well, dogs will eat anything.

Cats are very good at that. I was happy when Maddow needed pain pills for 3 days, they were dissolving pills. That meant he couldn't spit them out. It was not for lack of trying. Sushi will need 2 of these every day for the rest of his life. It's not something I'm looking forward to.

Smart pets are really a bitch sometimes. My old dog Ike, also very smart, would even pretend to swallow while I was watching and holding his snout shut. I have to pulverize a quarterly Bravecto dose in a mini-chopper with a healthy pile of deli ham for LD, and pour it over his dinner bowl. he will not just take the meds. if it tastes half as bad as it smells, I can't say I blame him.....but I don't need flea meds. Cats aren't fooled by that.

Son of a Bitch! I've been finding small, loose white pills in the house. They don't look familiar. Then it dawned on me. They're Sushi's pink thyroid pills. He's been holding them in his mouth until I leave, and all the pink wears off. Or he goes out in the hallway to quietly spit them out when I'm not looking. I've been thinking he has swallowed them.

I’ve been out of sorts and in a strange mood all day. I don’t remember if I told y’all, but I have an appointment scheduled with a new therapist next week. I’ve been seriously stressed for one reason or another since 2017, which I didn’t really realize it’s been that long until a few days ago. It had only been a few years before that, that I’d finally started putting myself back together after the years that I call the worst years of my life. Anyway, even though I understand now that stress is seriously wreaking havoc on my physical health in addition to my mental health, I’m still not doing too good with managing it. Which is why I am trying therapy yet again, with someone new. I don’t need someone to just listen to me talk about all the crazy shit in my life, I need someone to help me figure out how to be ok regardless of what crazy stuff people I care about do or have going on in their lives. If I have to dig deep and be uncomfortable to figure my shit out (because at the end of the day, it’s all really about me and not the people that drive me crazy and stress me out), fine. I don’t want to waste any more years of my life feeling like this, when I know it doesn’t have to be this way. Mister is still working with his therapist and I really think it’s helping him. I’m really proud of him about that If we both address our issues as individuals, it can only make life better for us as a couple, in my mind. But that’s not why I’m still trying. I’m still trying for ME. I’m tired of enduring and surviving, and trying to just keep it moving, no matter what happens. I feel like at some point in my life, I should be able to THRIVE. That’s what I’m after right now. I don't suffer from stress. I'm a carrier.

I went to the market yeserday and bought 5 boxes of pasticcini cookies from Italy, lemon flavoured. They were on special. I figured it would be a nice gesture to bring a box to someone's house when visiting. You don't show up empty-handed.
Now I'm getting ready to go to the spinal clinic. I'm not looking forward to it.

Tomorrow is my annual wellness visit or whatever they are calling it now. I'm beyond stressed and scared and all of that. Then I have to do the lab stuff - vampire stick and pee in a cup - and wait for the results which may not be pretty. I would be grateful if anyone wants to send positive energy, juju, prayers and anything else my way. Sending you positive energy. Tomorrow I go to the Spinal Clinic at the Montreal General Hospital. I have no idea what to expect. I haven't been there before. My orthopaedic surgeon said I must go.

I love country music but was never a JA fan. I didn't realize how far right he was. Add to it this recent video and it's a big nope for me. Same. I remember one of his first hits was a song that he took from another writer, that I was a fan of, and did not give him credit. Told me all I needed to know about him. Add in all the BS he and wife do for attention and he ain't getting a dime or 10 seconds of attention from me. You love country music? Check out William Prince. He's indigenous.

how did your BBQ turn out? chicken piccata here tonight, super easy. there should be enough chicken for another meal, the package is already thin-sliced and under 1lb. I'll probably just boil off some pasta for this/leftovers. Well, it took 2 hours for the coals to be just right. When the coals were perfect, I cooked ALL my meat. Everything was delicious.

Charlotte apparently taught Wilbur how to catch rabbits this afternoon. DH caught them "playing" with the bunnies. I rest my case that nature sucks. Although, I feel like we haven’t gotten enough Wilbur pictures lately. Narure, red in tooth and claw. -Tennyson

this. and also, likely an unpopular opinion. but, if someone is retired and otherwise mobile, you have time to go pick something up while the post office is open at some point during the week. my last house was in a town with 9 zip codes. my particular village PO was closed for lunch every day, and I just planned any needed trips around that. it's not difficult. it sounded like the weight restriction was temporary. if it becomes permanent, then yes, find a new carrier. this isn't that. During the last 6 months I have not always been mobile. I have dealt with two blood clots that left me housebound.
Right now I can go pick it up but I was also talk to Amazon. Isn't it a bitch?!

Poor Sushi. Yesterday, he ate a can of cat food for breakfast, followed by chicken breast, then steak, then another can of cat food, then turkey sausages. He was still screaming for food, but he's losing a lot of weight. He's always starving. His coat is ratty-looking, instead of glossy dark brown. I hope this pill regimen for hyperthyroidism will help him. If the hyperthyroidism doesn't kill him, the constant trips to the vet will. He's an old man, and it's traumatic for him. There's something here called Vet Chez Vous, where they'll come to your house to take bloods. It's probably very expensive, but I'll check it out.

You're braver than I am. I'm usually afraid to try new foods. I'm glad you enjoyed it! Indian food is sooo very yummy! Indian food is my favorite! LOVE it! Toomuchreality....start with Butter Chicken. It's not scary. It's just chicken in a spiced tomato and cream sauce. It's incredible!

Getting ready to go to the pool. I usually throw on a litle dress over my swimsuit and go. This time, I won't forget to bring my bra and panties. I was afraid a good stiff wind would lift my dress and show my hooha to all the construction workers digging up the streets. It would traumatize them for liffe.

I got my BBQ assembled. I put the coals in but they wouldn't stay lit. Had to try over and over again. SO MUCH SMOKE! It even set my smoke detector off. The neighbours aren't too pleased, I'm sure. It's finally lit now, but it will probably be dark by the time the coals are ready.

Received a message from a friend's husband in Colorado. Fellow Buff volleyball and women's basketball fan. She has passed away of f*ck cancer. I knew she was very ill. She wasn't able to attend a single game last school year for either sport. She battled this for many years. I'm sorry to hear that. My condolences.

My mattress is about 20 years old and it's not that comfortable anymore. I can't afford a new one, with Sushi's constant blood tests and meds, and my dental costs. I need 2 root canals and crowns. So, I ordered one of those gel memory foam mattress toppers, hoping to make my bed more comfortable. Has anyone tried that? Yes mattress topper is great , made old guest room mattress much more comfortable. I bought a foam topper but for me more difficult to put on sheet It's always difficult for me to put on sheets. The bed is Sushi's domain and he insists on helping. It takes three times as long.

We've done that for our camping trailer mattress and for our kids' dorm rooms. It absolutely does help. I got the 4” Queen topper Serta brand from Sam’s! Made a huge difference. I did lots of research and one thing was consistent and that was don’t get less than three inch. I did wind up getting a new mattress pad since old one didn’t have deep pockets but sheets were fine. If I get the 3/4 inch, my sheets won't fit.
