I also made the decision today that I’m not going to the seminar for my side gig this fall, because it’s in Orlando this year. My boss’s assistant needed an answer by today so she can make the arrangements and buy airline tickets. I’m sure I’ll hear from my boss soon, because this is the first one I’ve chosen not to go to. I refuse to go to Florida because I take political stances. I wouldn't come here either. I wouldn't go to Florida because it's not in the same time zone. It's 1876 down there.

I stopped at the market on my way home from swimming. I bought a big bunch of huge sunflowers. They're very top-heavy and don't do well in a delicate glass vase. Thank goodness I have a heavy antique stoneware milk jug. It looks perfect.

I made tacos and used the tomatoes from my little container garden. Delicious! I'm going to make taco salad with the rest of the ingredients and I'm going to add fresh corn kernels. Corn is Mexican, right?

We're under a tornado watch. Be safe! The air is hot & sticky here. How are you doing with wildfire smoke? We're OK with the smoke. It's pretty clear.

Yes kids mimic and repeat anything and everything. Which may be why Kiddo has said "What the hell" enough times to warrant the evil eye DH gives me. Only, he is not good with the evil eye. He starts laughing. Probably because Kiddo has my accent and it sounds like "what tha hail". DH said way back when we started dating that he liked the way I talked. He shouldn't be surprised it has rubbed off on the kid. Not necessarily. They mimic your BAD habits, but not your good. Mine saw me reading voraciously when he was little. Does he read? Nope!

Another hummingbird visited me while I was typing my last post. Like the others, it just hovered in the air for a second, and flew off over the roof. This one was even smaller than the others. But it was definitely a hummingbird and snot a big ass bug lol. You should put out a hummingbird feeder.

I think today's solace is that I probably don't have to worry about getting laid off right now, as long as I toe the line. Which is pretty easy now. I read that as you probably don't have to worry about getting laid right now. Never mind.

I got up feeling yucky and have felt more or less so all morning, although I've continued to function. I don't know if it was something I ate yesterday, the combination of foods, or a reaction to the new statin that I took the first of at bedtime. Digestive issues are listed as a "minor" side effect but if it continues like today the doctor will have to try something else. Are you hydrated enough?

Simon wanted to go out to dinner last night because Mel wasn't working. I asked if we could please go to a place where I could bring my food home in a doggy bag because I didn't feel like eating. 'No! It's MY birthday present, and I want to go to the Buffet Mandarin!" I always hated that place. I haven't been there in a good 35 years, and everything tastes like the frying oil hasn't been changed since then. Worst meal ever, and $112 for 3 people. Awful. At least Simon ate 3 heaping plates of food.

Didn’t your mom just unload the Fridge on you?I was doing the math and I think it’s going to be at least 10-15 years before I get to choose a car that’s actually to my own taste I guess I got to pick my Focus, which I still love, but at some point I’m going to want my midlife crisis car Yes, in 2021. She bought a new hybrid Highlander and has decided it's too small for her so she's trading it in on a new Grand Highlander that is 6 inches longer. She's trying to convince me to take the "old" one, probably in a 3 way trade at the dealership. I haven't give it a lot of thought because while I'd most certainly love it, it was something like 52K new and probably still worth at least mid-40's, but she's relentless. Going to accept the one from my dad though, that one is free and ODS will take it. In fact, I think I'll have it titled in his name right off the bat. But, I would have to store it for a year until he graduates...and I don't really have the room. I don't want stuff sitting outside.
52K for a fridge? Does it have a walk-in freezer?

I've been promising and promising to take DS and his woman out to dinner. I've been putting it off and off. DS called me and said she's not working tonight, can we go tonight? I really feel like crap. So, we won't go to a buffet, because I can't bring a doggie bag home. I doubt I'll be able to eat. I hope we can hit the Greek place, so I can pick at my meal and bring the rest home. I don't want to put it off any longer. I may never feel better again, so let's get it over with. I feel like such an old curmudgeon.

Huge thunderstorm here. Lots of rain, thunder and lightning. Good thing cats aren't afraid of thunderstorms. Sushi is happily playing with a wadded-up kleenex on the bed.

@pink Cashmere He looks SO happy! And good looking too. He's a keeper. 😊 I'm glad your Jeep got fixed. Good on Mister. Thank you for all of that. I’m glad you got to see the picture before I deleted it. DS looked happy in the picture, and he was feeling happy. Which of course, made me happy. One thing that has always kind of annoyed me is that even though I carried them in my belly for 9 months and gave birth to them, neither of my children look like me. At all. They are obviously siblings, since they look so much alike, and they both look like their stupid ass Dad. There are some very strong genes on their Dad’s side, because he looks just like his Mom. If you stuck me in a picture with my children, their Dad, his younger children, and his Mom, it would be very clear that they are all related and you would wonder what I had to do with anything and why I’m even in the damn picture lol. Simon doesn't look anything like me. He's the spitting image of his dad....right down to the bright blue eyes and high cheeckbones. He's a very handsome young man. Young...ha! He's 39...almost middle aged.

Savory? Sure. I actually have some. Should I toss it in? I married into a Jewish family, and Grandma taught me how to make an authentic Jewish chicken soup. I'm just missing parsnips. absolutely! I'm not sure I've ever had parsnips, but sarriette is critical to any chicken soup I make. blog recipe - the reason I picked this link? "2 tbsp summer savoury spice ( No substitutes. This is what makes the soup. Bonus points if you grow your own.)" Parsnips look like white carrots and add a beauiful, small touch of sweetness to the soup. My friend brought me a container of chicken soup from a Jewish deli once, and frankly, mine is better. Much more flavour. I can't find the savory right now. It must be buried in the the back of the cabinet, because I don't use it much. I have evey type of sauce, condiment and spice known to man. Next time.

I just gave most of the procuce to a very nice family from Ghana with 3 small children. I'm not going to eat it all. I kept enough for soup. I'm making a smallish pot of chicken soup right now. Almost half of a rotisserie chicken, a huge carrot that was gifted, celery that was gifted, an onion, lots of garlic, parsley and dill. Two Knorr Suisse chicken cubes. I figure it will be good for what ails me. I'm still not feeling great, but I think I can eat. I'm too tired and sick to make noodles, so I'll throw in a handful of rice when it's almost done. can you find sarriette where you are? my go-to sick soup is Acadian chicken fricot - chicken and dumplings. my inner Italian cook adds onion and garlic, but it's heavily seasoned with sarriette. chicken, dumplings, carrot, potatoes. easy peasy, and the broth is gold to me. Savory? Sure. I actually have some. Should I toss it in? I married into a Jewish family, and Grandma taught me how to make an authentic Jewish chicken soup. I'm just missing parsnips.

That sounds delicious and I hope you enjoy it (and maybe Sushi will lick up anything you drop?) Sushi LOVES chicken soup! Oh, and by the way, the overturned cat carrier with a thick towel on it is working very well as a step for him to the bed. I showed it to him once and he said "This is GREAT! So much easier!", and he's using it all the time now.

My Jeep is in the garage and Mister and DS are doing “boy stuff”. I just went out there for a few minutes and Mister was explaining to DS what he does to not lose track of which wires go where when he’s taking something apart to replace it. It went over my head, but DS seemed to understand what he was talking about, and that’s what counts lol. See? That's what matters to HIM. What matters to YOU is keeping things neat so you don't lose track of which things belong where. We're all wired differently and I doubt he will change. You can't MAKE things matter to him. My sister is a Type A personality and loses her mind if there are fingerprints on the glass coffee table. I'm a Type B (or C or D) personality and I don't even see the fingerprints. They just don't matter to me.

I found lettuce, celery, cherries and carrots in a bag hanging off my front door doorknob. Everything looks like it came from a garden or a farmers' market. I asked everyone who was responsible for this act of generosity. Nobody is owning up to it. I asked my friends and neighbours. "Nope, it wsn't me!"

I was reading an article about how plant milk and cow milk are not the same nutritionally. Umm duh? One is made from plants. The other is breast milk. Breast milk has evolved over millenia to meet the unique needs of whatever baby it's feeding. In this case a calf. Of course artifically made plant milk can't replicate it. How is this news? Personally I don't drink either but I like there are options for everyone. That's the beauty of being human we can innovate. I don't know why they call it pant MILK. It should be plant juice. Almond juice, Oat juice. It's no milk by any stretch of the imagination.

It's not from statins is it? That is the way I felt and I was in misery. If so changing or stopping them for awhile could help.
No, it's from very severe spinal stenosis. Next up at bat....incontinence. So much to look forward to!
