And they also used to get their first exposure to senseless violence from cartoons, as well. I've seen Wile E. Coyote fall off a cliff or Tom & Jerry beat each other with hammers thousands of times and it's still funny.

Rocky & Bullwinkle. Mighty Mouse. Huckleberry Hound. Droopy (which one was he on anyway?). The old Scooby Doo with all the "guest stars".

Yea...Droopy. He was on Woody Woodpecker, I think. Same with Chilly Willy. And you gotta love Yosemite Sam.

The Great Gazoo, right? Yea, he was funny. But Marvin the Martian was the best. I loved when Daffy Duck would take his x....something ray gun and disintegrate himself with it.

OMG, I'm glad to know I'm not the only one that sees anvils falling from the sky when I hear the 1812 overture.

THAT was his name,I couldn't think of it. Of course Marvin was better but Gazoo was still hilarious. Swamp, I think our entire generation sees that when they hear that overture. lol

Swamp, do you also sing "he got all, he got all, he got all....."(I still don't know what the lyrics are, LOL!) till you run out of breath? I do. Love when Bugs Bunny directs an orchestra.

I got my first classical music experience at what is now called The Taste of Chicago. They always do the 1812 Overture for the fireworks during the 4th of July. I was 4 at the time.

My mother was always a classical music lover, a trait that I did not inherit, but I love hearing the 1812 for the 4th of July fireworks at Taste. What is with the shooting them off on the 3rd?

Maybe because they know everyone has the 4th off to get rid of the hangover.

Everyone gets their first classical exposure from cartoons. Used to anyway. Bugs Bunny was the 1st place I heard opera too. they still can. Little Einsteins does snippets of classical music I recognize as from Looney Tunes cartoons.

He can recognize a song usually within the first few chords.
