I believe I know the name which you seek.
But since I am sage, I'll stay mum and won't speak.
[When will you be delivering Optimist's new laptop?]

Could it be netscape navigator/billy jean/IH8YOUALL?
Smitten/banned by Moonbeam, always changing names. Loves to make people angry.

I'm just wondering if Virgil will hold up his end of the bargain since I'm fairly confident in my deduction.
(He said that the answer bears a new face and is not a troll.)

Thanks unrepentant, I'll get you tomorrow when my exalt abilities have returned. Need to go to bed. Feeling very pessimistic about my life and finances. Hopefully will be better in 8 to 9 hours. Interesting, according to spell check I spelled pessimistic correctly.

A bump to see if Virgil will check the answers on this thread. Anyone up for some mutual exalting today? I need some cheer, I've got my first car repair of 6 scheduled today and I get to pay them over $600 including tax. It will be nice to have something fixed though.

Might I point out that giving people karma simply because they ask for it undermines the whole notion of "karma". Might I point out that giving someone a click on an internet message board because they are your friend isn't really karma anyways? As such, I will click away at Optimist This whole idea would be much more fun if the smite button was still around. Both sides recruiting and trying desperately to battle over one person's karma.

You and Virgil. Why bother with the "Might I". Would you really delete your post if I said NO? LOL. Since this is EE, the karma points weren't used as I think the proboard designers intended from day 1 if you look back at the older posts. I agree it would be more fun to have the smite button back as a balance but the mods decided they'd bring back karma only as a compromise from disabling it entirely. If Virgil had defined how I had to get my karma points I might agree that offering mutual karma exchanges is bad, but 100,000 is a big number without moderator or programming intervention. I want to be somewhat worthy of my karma so any suggestions how to be so will be read. Maybe something like Homeless Ted? I did take a voiceover class. ;D

Another thought. Most tools like karma points can be used in other ways than intended and usually are. Some of the karma drama was because there were karma pumpers for MU and it surprised people. I doubt the karma givers were his enemies.
We all have our views as what these karma points should really represent. Programming wise its just a number that can be set or adjusted in a few different ways.

Hey Virgil, I've bumped this thread back up. Is SL's answer or mine correct?
Now that the MSN Money boards are dead you should have time to answer. No threads to bot and all that.

I shall buy her a new laptop if anyone can answer me this riddle: Up do I pop, tho' a new face I bear, Down was I smitten by luna the fair. I am not a troll, tho' I'm powr'd by your rage. You'll speak my name softly (or stay mum if you're sage). Who am I? Samuel Jones.

Optimist PM'd me to notify me of this thread's ongoing unlife. Lassie, I shall donate to you a most precious karma for your noble attempts at solving the riddle. The major hints are in the last two lines. "I am not a troll." and "You'll speak my name softly." These are the keys. Samuel Jones, EFCO, netscapenavigator, MU. Are they trolls? Yes. No. Maybe. They were all smitten for troll-like behaviour. Do we speak their names softly? Does that make sense? Naturally, we can make one of two deductions. One: that so-and-so "banned by moonbeam" isn't technically a troll--which is subjective and semantically messy. Or two: that "smitten by moonbeam" refers to something other than a person. What was smitten by moonbeam other than people, might we ask? To find out, try typing in "punt" with a "c" rather than a "p". As our new post comes up, what do we see? Up do I pop, tho' a new face I bear, Down I was smitten by luna the fair. I am not a troll, tho I'm powered by your rage. You'll speak my name softly (or stay mum if you're sage). And so, the answer to the riddle: I am a censored word.

Thanks Virgil for visiting my humble thread. I figured I take things too literal to get your riddle. Up do I pop, tho' a new face I bear, Down I was smitten by luna the fair. I am not a troll, tho I'm powered by your rage. You'll speak my name softly (or stay mum if you're sage).
And so, the answer to the riddle: I am a censored word. Read more: notmsnmoney.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=fun&action=display&thread=954&page=3#ixzz1BbA3mpYLIf you are up to it can you answer my literalist questions? How do censored words change faces? Can't mods only smite posters? FYI, the last line was a problem for me as I can say anything, its the posting that's the issue, Yes?

Censored words change faces - Does that mean the people who use censored words change? If not, then the censored words themselves change. But I suck at riddles. LOL!!
