Personally, I think it's evil of you to bring this up, but I will respond: Obama and 'Infanticide'The facts about Obama's votes against 'Born Alive' bills in Illinois. Summary Anti-abortion activists accuse Obama of "supporting infanticide," and the National Right to Life Committee says he's conducted a "four-year effort to cover up his full role in killing legislation to protect born-alive survivors of abortions." Obama says they're "lying." At issue is Obama's opposition to Illinois legislation in 2001, 2002 and 2003 that would have defined any aborted fetus that showed signs of life as a "born alive infant" entitled to legal protection, even if doctors believe it could not survive. Obama opposed the 2001 and 2002 "born alive" bills as backdoor attacks on a woman's legal right to abortion, but he says he would have been "fully in support" of a similar federal bill that President Bush had signed in 2002, because it contained protections for Roe v. Wade. We find that, as the NRLC said in a recent statement, Obama voted in committee against the 2003 state bill that was nearly identical to the federal act he says he would have supported. Both contained identical clauses saying that nothing in the bills could be construed to affect legal rights of an unborn fetus, according to an undisputed summary written immediately after the committee's 2003 mark-up session. Whether opposing "born alive" legislation is the same as supporting "infanticide," however, is entirely a matter of interpretation. That could be true only for those, such as Obama's 2004 Republican opponent, Alan Keyes, who believe a fetus that doctors give no chance of surviving is an "infant." It is worth noting that Illinois law already provided that physicians must protect the life of a fetus when there is "a reasonable likelihood of sustained survival of the fetus outside the womb, with or without artificial support." Abortion survivor would have been protected under existing lawObama did vote against the laws, by voting no or present on the bills. (In Illinois, a present vote has the same weight as a no vote.) But because of the older law, Jessen is wrong when she says "if Barack Obama had his way, I wouldn't be here." According to the medical records provided by the organization that produced the ad, Jessen was born at 29 weeks, which would have been a viable pregnancy and subject to the older Illinois law requiring that she receive medical care. So it's not correct to say that Obama opposed that. Also, Jessen was born in California, not Illinois. Just because a website has the word "fact" in it, doesn't mean that the content is fact.
How about the actual words from the then senator?

August 22, 2008 7:30 A.M. Why Obama Really Voted For Infanticide
The article was published well prior to the 2008 presidential election and it didn't stop him from being elected President of the United States of America then. While it might be fun for some to bash him again with it on this board in June of 2011, it won't be the thing that stops him from being re-elected in 2012.

I think he's done enough on his own to not be reelected. I was simply sharing a story of interest, regardless of when it was originally written, with my fellow posters. Like books, some articles are classics.

Even though I'm not an Obama fan, a thread like this sickens me. This is even more vile than the birther nonsense.

Wow really? Would it be helpful if I used more words?
Article is from 2008. Been discussed upside downside and sideways on every news forum on the internet. There is nothing at all wrong with what Obama had to say on the matter, he didn't vote to kill babies, pro life movements have blown this up distorted it and used it to further their agenda, unsuccessfully I might add, since Obama was indeed elected to the office of POTUS, and even THEY, the pro-life movement knew enough to stop dragging this beaten dead horse out for another round of stupidity.
Better?
BS is BS no matter how many 50 cent words you can come up with to describe it. It still smells.

Exactly. A very lame attempt at that.

I'm sorry that some people feel this thread is somehow misleading or inaccurate. But, to my credit, it is the title of the article, so it must be true.

God forbid there should be any undue burden on an abortionist and his "patient" when the baby they are attempting to kill comes out alive. After all-- it isn't a BABY, even if it is alive and breathing, it is an abortion.. right?? It's disgusting that this person Obama represents our country to the world. As for people that think this is all crap-- get used to it. Not only his entire history, again, will be out front, but all the lovely years of his presidency will be added to it. There's a pretty good chance many will listen this time around that were too star-struck last time.

While it might be fun for some to bash him again with it on this board in June of 2011,My normal stance on this subject is that it's the woman's body & therefor her choice. But what's fair is fair & I wanted to turn it around & say: Democrats are baby killers......Boy that felt good!

Most people are sickened by the propaganda you post, Lak. Live and let live.
No need to click on my thread at least 5 times [the number of times you've posted] if you're so sickened. Save yourself some disgust.
