No, it is not "essentially stealing." If I were blocking the ads for everyone on the whole board, then I could see them saying that. But I find it a load of rubbish for them to equate using ad blockers as somehow committing a criminal act.
Just by using this board but not buying anything from the advertisers could be construed as stealing, but I have no plans to do so. I've never in my life bought a product as a direct result of viewing a website ad. If I'm not going to buy their products anyway, blocking them doesn't change anything or make them money.
I know it's a minor issue, and no, I do not use ad blocking software, but damn ... I just found it ridiculous in the extreme to rationalize using them as being comparable to a felony offense. What crap.
Fortunately, the ads here aren't as "in your face" as some other sites, so I have no real problem with them. But Proboards needs to get a grip on reality.

The adds to me are nothing, rarely notice them, think they are at the top and bottom but haven't looked at them..posible I will at time, just to give a bit of payback , least I can do , for the services of what has been presented to us, again, basically free. There is always the chance that if the ones who give them to us find no usage, viewing of , thus unable to show new advertisers that ads presented here are effective, no one going to them, reading them , thus unable to sell more of them and old ones dropping off, they may just , as other failed businesses do, close up shop. Now I ask all who might still be reading this..Is this what you want to happen here. Possible some one make a poll up, I am not good at that but that would be one that might be interesting to see how posters and members feel about that possibility? Anyone up for that?  |

A couple of points (or three):
I don't use ad blocker software but I do have a pop up blocker running.
If using an ad blocker is like stealing the use of this site, then putting ads here is like stealing my eyeballs.
I thought "multi nicks," (such as burnsattorincan and fiscan) were against the rules.

The Canadian Law List (http://www.canadianlawlist.com/) shows five attorneys with the surname Burns and first initial D. None of those first names is Dalton.
By coincidence, no doubt, the Premier of Ontario is Dalton McGuinty.

The only issues I have with ads is the flashing ones that can cause seizures in some. Those should not be uses but I guess I have no say in that. I would not know how to use ad blocks.
