"former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, also running for president, said that climate change is "the newest excuse to take control of lives" by "left-wing intellectuals." so he is saying Romney is a left wing intellectual??? Just a thought, whats wrong with being a intellectual?? "in·tel·li·gent (n-tl-jnt) adj. 1. Having intelligence. 2. Having a high degree of intelligence; mentally acute. 3. Showing sound judgment and rationality: an intelligent decision; an intelligent solution to the problem. 4. Appealing to the intellect; intellectual: "Definition of INTELLECTUAL 1a : of or relating to the intellect or its use b : developed or chiefly guided by the intellect rather than by emotion or experience : rational c : requiring use of the intellect <intellectual games> 2a : given to study, reflection, and speculation b : engaged in activity requiring the creative use of the intellect <intellectual playwrights> So, if one is intelligent, thus a intellectual...this is BAD??

Unfortunately, dictionary definitions can lead to completely erroneous conclusions. We get that a lot from those who look up "liberal," etc. Intellectual can simply mean that one is emotionally deficient or tends to "rationalize." Intellectual is neither good nor bad, it is just what it is. It's a lot like "smart" in that being "smart" doesn't necessarily mean being "right."
