Sorry, I am not a shrink military person. I think we need full mass military available at all times. I am, however, not opposed to shifting them to places they can do more protection and less presence.

It would help...just not that much All the money they spend in the foreign country now, would be spent here That would help certain regions where they would be stationed Also...travel to and from would be reduced. Moving expenses alone are substantial for our troops stationed overseas I would estimate we would save 6-7% a year versus what we spend now....but again, just my opinion and estimate It would be interesting to see the actual numbers. Nothing to support it, but my gut feeling is that the total reduction of the DOD budget would be significant less than the 6-7% range if all the existing troops were reassigned within the confines of the US. It certainly wouldn't be much of an initial savings due to the construction of new facilities needed here to house them.

Been There-- we could use them as shields, I suppose, for the BP.. not sure that is legal, though.. ;D ...too unruly to be effective... ...imo, BP can overlap prison locations at reduced levels, which allows them to concentrate on the perimeter between DOC presence... the ditches dug, or barbwire lined, along borders can then be utilized by BP for security purposes... and I really think it can't be the worse idea anybody could have about this... ETA: ...but we can petition our legislators to enact whatever laws we want... (regarding felon shields) ...we're not on the inside...

No. You appeared serious, and completely lacking in understanding of how skilled and hardworking our military is.

$276 billion went to DoD in 2000, so this number has increased exponentially in the last 11 years, I don't have time to dig as I am cooking dinner for the children. www.cbo.gov/doc.cfm?index=2398&type=0&sequence=3276,000,000,000 x 6.5% 17,940,000, 000 I know looks like chump change using your figure of 6-7% or 6.5% the median.
