I can see where some high-powered executives MIGHT need a retirement coach. My DH is not high-powered, but he is an executive and puts in a ton of hours (over 60 regularly). He is going to adjust just fine. He loves to play guitar, golf, fish, and is constantly coming up with other hobbies that he thinks might interest him in retirement.
We used to do A LOT of volunteer work (feed the hungry programs, youth minister for a high school group, special olympics, relay for life, etc.) before he was promoted and we relocated so we'd like to do some of that too. We just have not decided yet where to put our time and effort that won't tie us down too much. DH is thinking he might want to coach one of the high school golf teams - we'll see how that works in with our plans to travel.

Every time I see this thread I read "Retirement Couch". Thinking it's about couches to choose for retirement lazing.

A friend of mine had a boss who retired and needed a retirement coach. He was a high powered exec and didn't know what to do with himself all day. His wife got sick of him following her around everywhere so she gave him a list and sent him to Walmart to pick stuff up. He had never been to Walmart before (She used to do all the shopping) and fell in love with the place. He spent the next few months wandering around his house all day writing down stuff he needed so he would have a reason to go to Walmart. His wife reported that he would get up at 5 AM and make a Walmart run. He would then come home and start making a list for the next day. It was insane but it got him out of her hair. I don't know if he is still hanging out at Walmart (I got the story ~8 years ago) but I would imagine he may be.
