He had other definitions, but they all meant about the same thing. He died in 1830 but wars are still politics by different means. And the means are changng now more than they have changed since the industrial revolution. As an introduction to the face of war as it is emerging in the 21st century you might watch and listen to a talk that Allen West gave to The Heritage Foundation yesterday. It is roughly 45 minutes. It reflects what is unfolding in politics by different means as we speak. It is not a war fo men in uniforms storming the ramparts, but it is war and it is being waged against us by a very, very determind and resourceful enemy.
