USDA Replaces Food Pyramid With a Plate
this is a good example of why our gov't should mind its own business and leave people to themselves.
who in gov't made them the sole source for knowledge? who gave the gov't the responsibility to be every-ones answer to life?
why can't people make there own decisions? who gave the gov't their tax dollars with the idea that they should use your money to be making 'food pyramids' or 'food plates'?
our gov't put to much importance on meats, cancer. our gov't then put to much importance on grains, .........result.....fat people.
our gov't has a tuff time getting out of their own way, let alone, giving the world direction on everything from 'soup to nuts".

Watching our government operate is like trying to eat a soup sandwich.

All I know is that I have not paid attention when the Government said that Coffee was bad for you. I drink 5 or more cups a day and now the research has came out that I now have a 70% less chance to get Prostrate Cancer and a 50% less chance for Liver cancer. My wife is a happy camper knowing that info.

I gave up on the government when I found out the food pyramid was written by lawyers. Those stupid lawyers think they know everything about everything and can tell everyone how to do their job or live their lives. Even libertarian lawyers believe that.

if the gov't is us, and we are not happy with the gov't we have, why do we continue having the same gov't?
why don't we try something new?
why do we do the same things, expecting a different result, each time?
are we so stupid as to know that our gov't is broken, but have no idea on how to fix what is broken? are we really an 'advanced society' or are we 'just playing one on tv?

When the checks stop getting mailed you will see change. 51% of Americans are on some type of public assistance. Who is going to promote change while being dependent on the very government that pays them.

another example of the above........is our debt ceiling.
why have one if we raise it each time we reach it? 69 times in the last 90 years.........really? is this the best we can do? is our thought process so thwarted that we can't do anything other than what we have done in the past? if last year we raised the debt ceiling and the world did not end.........then we should do it again, and again, and again, until the world does come to an end........so the problem becomes moot.

51% makes sense......
but we were moving to 51% for quite some time now. is it only when it is obvious that we can't fix something that it is deemed 'broken'?

How about these thoughts.
Food? Abundant, plentiful – there’s no such thing as having to wait for fruits or vegetables to be “in-season”. You can get just about anything you want, whenever you want – cooked or uncooked, the results?
1 of the most obese nations in the world, and multi-million dollar industries devoted to weight-loss and other related food programs because the general public no longer has the ability to understand or cope with what to put in their mouths.
Money? Credit cards, easy loans, no money down – pay later! , the results?
A monetary system mired in debt, people unable to understand how to handle themselves financially – unable to manage a budget, entitlements expected.
And the Federal Government – doing their best to “help-out”. The Human soul needs challenges to be fit, not lazy hand-outs and how-to's. Stop demanding more from Government – end the madness. Demand LESS.

agreed.......
end the dependence on gov't and the gov't politicians should end their dependence on us, by not being able to stay in office forever.

Sorry Maui1, but the crying time has yet to begin. We have not seen anything yet, the worst is just around the corner. Why? absolutely nothing has changed since Paulson came out crying in 2008 for a government bailout of banks. Everything on this thread is directly related to the Federal Reserve Act and the debt it has brought to our nation. No one can change it now as the beast has grown to big to fail, as failure means half the world population starves to death.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- i am not sure it is the men (greenspand/volker as well) as fed chairman, that makes them seem stupid, but the position itself that is stupid.
as i see it.........the baseless need for the fed, is the only need i see for the fed.
i must agree.........

Unfortunately, there is no "us" - there are 300 million people. I would venture to say that most of them don't understand how broken we really are.

Yup,
300 million sheep trapped in a box canyon with wolves lined up at the only exit. One big slaughter and only a few will escape. Best chance for survival, stay in the middle of the pack.

maybe dec 21st 2012, is not a universe/solar system- catastrophe event, but a world currency event, that starts the need for a new world calender, for the new world order.

Dec 21st 2012 is nothing more than the beginning of the winter solstice and the completion and beginning of a 26000 year cycle. If the world turns upside down and spins backward, well nothing you can do about it anyway except die with the rest of us. Focus needs to be on saving the US Constitution and restoring constitutional governance and nothing else IMO.

life- i am sorry to say that things won't change on their own. change comes with force, either intentional or unintentional. that is our decision today........ do we wait for unintentional change, or do we force change intentionally?
i am convinced that once the herd starts running wild (and we have been running wild for some time now), there is nothing that will stop it, but force.
in 1776, we had this same decision to make. we made that decision, knowing that there would be a stiff price to pay for the decision we made.
are we up to that task today? are we going to force change, or do we wait for the cliff that stops the herd?

Maui1,
Big difference between 1776 and now. Back then it was the wealthiest and best educated that promoted and initiated the revolution to ensure their labor would not be for nothing. Self Preservation! Unity was achieved by a common goal, "not to become servants of the king"
Today the wealthiest and best educated have theirs and only the little people are crying. Without the Wealthy having an interest in salvaging the constitution and the US, it won't happen. Their interest is in globalization and they are united by a common goal, Power and Greed.
Thus we come to the dilemma of the day. Become a sheep, or become a rouge, either way you will be slaughtered. Just a matter of how and when.

the rich better beware.........with 51% of the population freeloading, and voting for the status quo, maybe their move to control the world, may have to overcome the depletion of their wealth.
our govt's target now is 'the rich'......is it your contention, that this is just a ploy? it might be, i would not put anything past our govt.
i know the ultra rich can protect themselves from govt, but they can't guns, in the hands of the vast majority.

The rich (Bankers) have the politicians in their pocket, the politicians have the US military at the call. FYI DOD has bigger guns than Bubba. Thus whether you are a sheep or a rogue you will be slaughtered if you don't stay in the middle.

mubarak thought that (who was the big banker and politician in his country), and was wrong
mass revolt, when triggered, can be powerful.
the rich better not get to greedy, as to inflame the masses.

You are comparing an ant to an elephant. First, Egypt Military controls the country and choose to stay out of the fray. Second, they ain't much of a military force comparatively speaking.
The same Rich (World Bankers) that control us are also controlling them. How did those riots start? Food Shortages come to mind. One big world domination game being played out in front of our eyes and we (The People) are two blind to see it. We are distracted with Dancing with the Starts, The voice, and Football lockouts to pay attention to congressional budget or presidential orders being issued. Sheep or Rogue, we will be slaughtered!

our military is comprised of the poor, just like most others in the world. the military in egypt sided with the poor, because they were one in the same.
i agree that we are controlled, all i am saying.......... is that the controllers, better watch how tight they hold us, as if it gets any tighter, they might have hell to pay.

The government goes where the money is. Pure and simple. The government is politicians and their sycophants. They thrive and survive on money. Wherever the money is, that is where they will tax. If Microsoft somehow slips by with no lobbying and donations....bingo...antitrust.....now msft has massive numbers of lobbyists spreading the wealth around. They dont care one bit about rich/poor, business, crime, or anything else. They simply go to the money. Exactly! Get over it, they don't care about you, or controlling you! They would rather sit on a beach and enjoy the scenery! wxyz!

wyz- i agree that the gov't can grow to be a parasite on it's population. the issue with parasites, (and my concern) is that they don't know when to stop the consumption, without killing their host.

I think it is the opposite, the government considers us the parasites
49% of americans paying taxes think the other 51% who are not, are parasites..............the gov't loves that we (51%) are dependent, as it insures their existence, until the ultimate outcome of death.
