HOUND ALERT! Hi everyone! I've missed you all so much. Life has just been nuts and I've not been on the computer much at all the past 6 months. I came in today and had a message from a church friend. They are taking their youth group to Outback on the way home from mission work. She said some papers had a $5 coupon for Outback. I didn't get it, but told her I'd check to see if anyone did. I think they have about 30 kids to take, so I will take as many as I can get for her. Thanks so much! I'm on the addy list or you can message me at karacody at woh dot rr dot com. PM me your address. I can send a few your way also.

So I had to brag about my score today. I thought I did really well on the CareFree pantiliners at WAGs. I had one $0.50 Q from a sample package that came in the mail. Well, today my Sunday paper gave me two SS inserts and no RP. Was bummed at first until I realized that I got 2 more CareFree $0.50 off Qs. Since there was no limit, I picked up 3 of the coupon books and used the $3/2 Qs plus the $0.50 Qs.
I ended up getting 6 packs of pantiliners (but there was still PLENTY left on the shelf...my local WAGs definitely ordered a lot for there $3/2 deal!!!!) for $1.56. That's $0.26 EACH!!!
I e-mailed my mom to see if she happened to get the SS insert this week in her small town paper. (They're really spotty on when they have inserts and when they don't.) If she got one, I am going to have her mail it to me so I can get 2 more. I think it's hard to find good deals on feminine products so I want to stock up as best I can!
I don't know what the proper couponing ettiquette is for taking more than one of the WAGs coupon booklets to use though....They had a TON and each month, after I go through and take out the ones I use, I always take the booklet to work and set it on the breakroom table. That way, my co-workers can take any they need/want. Usually about half of what's left in the booklet gets taken by co-workers.

coffeegrl,
You need just one of the WAGs coupons per transaction. You don't need multiples of those Qs unlike the MQs. I normally don't clip them from the book. I just show them the Q and they enter the code and I keep the one book for the whole month. If I clip the q, I ask them if I can have it back and take it back from them.HTH

I decided to suck it up and start really couponing (rather than my normal just-buy-it-when-I-need it shopping). Anywho, I'm a little limited in that A) It's just me, so no partner-in-crime to help me score more of a stockpile and B) I have some nasty allergies, so I have to be selective about the products I stock up on. BUT I still managed to score a few cool deals today with just today's Sunday paper and drug store ads.
At Rite Aid I did two transactions: 2 Crest toothpaste 4oz. $5.38 2 Stayfree pads (16 ct and 24 ct) $5 - $0.75 Crest Q x 2 (gifted by the coupon fairy) - $2.50 Stayfree BOGO from today's paper $6.38 OOP Rec'd 2 $2.69 UPs and 1 $2 UP
2 Stayfree pads (16 ct) $5 1 Window fan $19.99 - $2.50 Stayfree BOGO - $7.38 UP's from previous transaction $15.11 OOP Rec'd 1 $2 UP
Then at Walgreens... 2 16 oz. Twizzlers $3 3 pk Intuition Razor refills $8.99 - $2 Intuition Q from this week's paper - $0.75 Twizzlers Q's x 2 (one blinky, one from paper) $8.49 OOP Rec'd 1 $3 RR and 1 $1 RR
3 pk Intuition Razor refills $8.99 - $2 Intuition Q from this week's paper $6.99 OOP Rec'd 1 $3 RR
2 6 pk Hershey Bars $6 2 boxes Honey Maid $6 2 bags Marshmallows $3.98 WAGs chapstick $0.99 - $1/2 Hershey 6pk Q (today's paper) - $1/2 Honey Maid Q (today's paper) - $3.98 instant savings (marshmallows free with purchase of Hershey and Honey Maid) - $7 RR's from previous transactions $3.99 OOP
Everywhere I went, both the cashiers and the other shoppers were very helpful and didn't give me the evil eye for using coupons. In RA, another shopper and her daughter gave me the two crest Q's to make that a MM for me and let me know that I could buy both in the same transaction and still get both UPs. At WAGs, the cashier on the last transaction was kind enough to let me know that I just needed to pick up a filler item (the chapstick) so that I could use all of my Q's and RRs. For the first WAGs transaction, the lady ahead of me was a "binder lady", but was kind enough to let me check out after she finished one transaction since she had at least two more to do and I only had a few items. I feel pretty good about today's "haul" because they're all things that I had an immediate need for and would have otherwise paid the sale price for. In hindsight, the only thing I would change would be to purchase the second set of stayfree pads in another transaction and apply the UP from that to the fan as well, reducing my OOP by $2.
A few questions though. Many of the coupons I used today said "one coupon per purchase" and one I saw but didn't clip said "no more than 4 like coupons per transaction". So on the "one per purchase" Q's, can I use more than one per transaction assuming I have the appropriate number of items? For example, could I have bought all of the stayfree pads in the same transaction since I had 4 packs total, even though the two Q's I had were identical? I'm sure I overpaid for the Hershey's, Honey Maid, and Marshmallows deal, but were there any other items that I overpaid for? I live in Oregon and have RA, WAGs, Albertsons, Fred Meyers, Target, Safeway, and K Mart all within a reasonable distance from where I live.

ReneeJune - A purchase is an item - ie. one pkg of Stayfree. So, yes, you could have purchased all the Stayfree in one transaction. There is a limit of 4 UPs per card at RA on the Stayfree this week, which means one could purchase 8 Stayfree, since it's a $2 UP per set of 2. Does that make sense? On the Smores items, yeah, there was a better deal a few weeks back at Albs, but as long as you're eating 'em soon, I wouldn't worry about it. What I mean by that is if you don't have something in the pantry & you're going to buy it, you just do the best you can with the sale & coupons at that moment in time. I'm in OR too! Where are you? ETA: On the Schick Intuition...well...a lot of us have been getting free razors for quite awhile, so probably wouldn't pay for a razor. If you're brand particular, that's probably not too bad of a deal. I personally do think Schick is the best in terms of razors, but currently I have tons of free Gillette razors, RA razors & Bic razors. I still have some Schick that I paid actual money for, but as long as I can continue to get free razors, I will not be brand particular. CoffeeGirl - Had you seen my post to you about the Wags IVC or did you find that from a different source? Just curious.

CoffeeGirl - Had you seen my post to you about the Wags IVC or did you find that from a different source? Just curious. I saw your post and saw it listed on a sneak preview of the July coupon book. My coupons did beep when I checked out and I wondered why. My WAGs cashier didn't think a thing of it but just manually entered it. But when I was looking at the rest of the coupons just a little bit ago, I noticed that the coupons in the book all say, "Manufacturer's coupon good only at Walgreens." It's in the little print. That must have been why I got the beeps. I was using two manufacturer's Qs. But they look just like the WAGs Qs in the weekly ads with the white W in a red circle. I think that's a really sneaky thing to do. If they are manufacturer's Qs, even though they are only good at WAGs, they need to look different. Now I feel like I committed coupon fraud.

leanna - I'm smack dab in the middle of grass seed country a.k.a. the Willamette Valley, next town over from the home of the Beavers. I also have one of the most severe grass allergies my doc has ever seen . I'm very brand loyal on the Intuition... I'm blind without my glasses and that's the only razor I haven't managed to do serious harm with. LOL. I would have waited on the s'mores stuff, but my BF ate an entire bag of marshmallows the last time he came over .

Coffeegirl - No you did not commit coupon fraud! The Wags coupon book can be stacked with MQ's. I don't know if you saw page 45 of this thread - but on there I was asking for advice on the order of Wags q's vs MQ's. I think that may have been why your coupons beeped - did you give the Wags q first?
Most of us hate beepage - I know I do - but I can tell you that perfectly legit mq's beep on a regular basis. Today, my Excedrin mq's beeped at RA. Happens all the time.

ReneeJune - Ha! I too have severe grass allergies...and pollen allergies...and...well, let's just say anything green and natural that grows I'm allergic to. For Albs, if you like apple juice, you can get some free between now & Tuesday. If your Albs has the TreeTop 3pk on sale for $1, you can print out the $1/2 coupon found on their website here: www.treetop.com/(Click on "play now." You have to do this quiz, and then at the end you can print out the coupon.) Use that, plus an Albertsons doubler and 2 packs for free!

Also, ReneeJune, I'm not sure what you mean by not having a partner in crime to help you stock up? I am married, but I do almost all of the shopping, and score plenty of deals just 'lil ol me. And, to give you a reference point on the Smores - I got those items for $1 each after q's and sale at Albs. That's NOT a critique of your purchase today, because, like I said earlier, if it's something you want right at the moment, you do the best you can with what's available. So I just share that to give you a reference point of how great it can be to stock up. I will make smores next week for July 4th.

saveinla: I received the KFC coupon down south here, so hopefully it's nationwide... Shelly: Amazon has some really excellent comments about what tvs to buy and what to avoid. I am actually stalking a vizio that's 240 hz, internet ready (no little extra drive thingy to buy to make it connect to the internet, etc), and this particular model (and many of the newer ones) offer immediate connectability to netflix, the major networks websites, and several gaming sites. You also want to consider the contrast ratio on tvs larger than 46" you want to have 1,000,000:1 or greater (I'm looking at a tv w/ 10 million to one) this helps with tv shows with dim/night scenes, etc. The number of HDMI ports can also be important if you have a xbox, satellite, dvr, blue ray, and the like to hook up (if you need to buy HDMI cables DO NOT BUY THEM AT THE STORE get them off amazon for 1/10 the price the store will charge you. Lastly, when budgeting for the tv, remember pretty much all flat screens have sucky sound so leave some room in the budget for a speaker or two. I just bought a vizio sound bar for $98 from walmart and it seems to be working well..... Can you tell we love tv at our house? misspt--- Thanks for the info. I will let DBF know. He's not a video game player, but wants to get a good TV that will last. I've seen the 100,000:1, but no higher than that. Thanks for hte info about the cables and speakers! you have been

shelley:[ b]NAG--- I have a question about LCD TVs....what is a good brand? Vince's 36 "old style" TV went kuput and he and I have no idea about the LCD/LED Tvs. I'm thinking Vizio has some good ratings, but not familiar with it myself. I know that a 120Hz is better than 60 and 240 is even better, but that's about it. Any help we can get would be appreciated. What happened to just choosing a brand and a size??? |

This is info from Consumer Report's latest tv evaluation: The number on the right reps the rating: 46 and 47 inch LCD: Samsung LN46C630 74 Hitachi Ultravision L465604 73 Vizio SV472XVT 72 LG 47LD450 72 Sony Bravia KDL-46EX600 69 JVC LT-46P510 69 Sharp Aquos LC-46D78UN 69 Sony Bravia KDL-46EX700 68 LG 47SL90 66 Philips 47PFL6704D 64 Toshiba 61 Mitsubishi Unisen LT-46164 57 The Hitachi is @ $800, the Samsung @ $900. All have 1080p resolution. Ironically, the Mitsubishi is the lowest rating of this size and is the most expensive: @$2100! Let me know if you're thinking of a different size and I'll look it up for you. We still have the old style t.v. as well and will keep it until it dies. Guess we are really dinasaurs because we only have one t.v. set period!! Didn't want the kids off in their rooms to watch t.v.--wanted it to be a family thing even if we had to bicker about what we were going to watch!
murpath--- THANKS! He's looking at around 46 inches so that info will help. I was thinking the Vizio. I tried to look at CR's info online, but didn't want to pay $26 for a year. I have 3 old style TV and will keep them till they die also. I agree about kids not having TVs in their rooms. I've seen Pre-school kids with their own TVs I don't think so!

Murpath---apparently the Vizio listed doesn't seem to be available locally. And it was listed at wal-mart at $1300=. I'll have to search for the others later.

I had to go to the city yesterday for a birthday party, so, was able to to a little hounding. I was a little disappointed with Rite Aid because we didn't get the additional "caregiver's" portion of the ad here and there were several things I wanted and needed. Oh well...Here's what I ended up doing: 2 Oral B TB, 2.69 Used BOGO Q from P&G (I couldn't figure out if this was the right TB for the Q, but I used it) I found these TB's with $10 in coupons inside so be on the lookout for those! 2 Dixie Plates, BOGO Used $1/1 VV and $1/2 MC Got2b Mousse, 4.99, used $2 MC, submit for 4.99 SCR 1 Lamisil, 8.39 with 20% discount, used $2/1 peelie, $3/1 RA emailed Q, $2/1 VV Q, submitted for $2 SCR 2 Excedrin Migraine, 1.99 used (2) $2/1 tearpad Q, 1 $1 VV 1 Aleve 24 ct, 3.99 with 20% discount, used $1/1 MC 1 Aleve 50 Ct, 5.59 with 20% discount, used $2/1 MC I took a chance on the Aleve. It was one of the items in the Caregivers part of the ad, $5 Up wyb 2. I needed it anyway and only had a $10 Up to use, so, I bought it and hoped I'd get the Up even though it wasn't advertised here, but, no dice. Oh wel...I needed it anyay. I used a 3/15 survey Q, all the Q's listed above, and a $10 Up. I got back (2) 2.69 Ups and (2) 1.00 Ups, will also get 4.99 SCR and 2.00 SCR, paid 1.62 OOP + tax, so, a pretty good deal for having to make it up on the fly!
Went to Wags twice and did 3 transactions. First 2 were identical, 1 2pk. Reach TB, 2 Carefree. All my Q's here beeped like crazy! I had $2/1 peelies for the toothbrushes (I took them a few weeks ago from RA when Wags had them on sale and they were OOS all week...) I had .50/1 MC's for the Carefree that I had picked up at Wags several weeks ago. I paid 1.xx OOP for each transaction and got a $2 RR back. Third transaction later was 2 OM hotdogs, 1 Reach floss, 2 Carefree, 1 Aluminim foil. Used $1/2 OM MC, $2/1 Reach floss, 1. 50/1 Carefree (last one I had), used $5 RR, paid less than $1 OOP and got a $2 RR for the Reach.

I don't want DBF stuck with a $800 TV that doesn't work. He'd be fine with fixing the old TV, but the local place no longer fixes them. Why couldn't we stick with the old style tried and true that actually works? I hate trying to figure out new technology when it keeps changing!

I LOVE it...

constanz22 and shelley:
Consumer Reports rates the Samsungs at the top for just about every size flatscreen. The Vizio, however, isn't that far behind.
The Westinghouse was listed 37th!

I just can't justify replacing a perfectly working TV.

I am new to this coupon area on WIRR (but not new to WIRR in general). I have always used coupons and figured it was a bonus to me if I happened to get it on sale and use the coupon at the same time. So I'm starting from scratch with couponing, and did the following transaction today at CVS near where I work: RepHresh Brilliant Tampons Spend $6.79, get $6.79 in ECB And wouldn't you know it that they were out, so I got a rain check! Yeah me, I've never gotten a rain check, never bothered to ask. So this kinda messed up my transaction right from the get go, but I forged on. All Detergent B1G1 First one $7.49 Second one Free Act Total Care B1G1 half off Dry Mouth $8.49 Act Regular 2.94 Subtotal $18.92 Coupon Act Dry Mouth -$2.00 Coupon Act Regular -$1.00 ECB -$3.00 New subtotal $12.92 Tax .95 OOP $13.87 My intent was to use the $6.79 ECB on this transaction, so my OOP would have been $6.13 plus tax, but I got the rain check so will use that on a future shopping trip. So I paid $13.87 -- still a little high compared to some of the deals you ladies get each week, but just a short time ago I would have paid $29.46 for the four items above, wouldn't have thought much about the B1G1, or if it's on sale, or to buy something unless I needed it. How'd I do, would appreciate any comments. I also wanted to do the Pantene deal, but they had only a few kinds left that I don't use (mostly for oily hair), and I know I couldn't use that kind. So on my way home I am stopping at the CVS that is right around the corner from where I live and will try for the Refresh and Pantene deals there. And I'm also going to Walgreens, which is directly across the street from CVS, I really need toilet paper, and I use Angel Soft which is on sale for $4.00 for a 9 pack, not the best deal in town, but I NEED IT, so I will get it. And one thing that I have ladies, not to make anyone jealous or anything, but on a busy street corner about a mile and a half from where I live, plus I drive through this intersection to/from work every day, are: CVS on one corner , Walgreens on another , and Rite Aid on a third . So I have my pick, and so far it seems like CVS has the best deals on the items I use.

I am willing to share coupons, I get one newspaper per week with one set of coupons. I have just started, so only have coupons from last week and this week.
Would anyone have the following coupons: Folgers Coffee Angel Soft or Cottonelle Suave Hair Products All Detergent Bounty Paper Towels Greek Yogurt (any variety) Olive Oil Truvia Colgate Toothpaste - but regular, not whitening (can't use it)
I know you can "PM" people here, I assume PM is Private Message, but how/where do I do this?
Thanks for anything you can provide!

ReneeJune,
You mentioned you have allergies to products, so if you want to list which products you are able to use, I know that if I happen to run across a sale or coupon for those, I will try to remember to tell you! I'm sure others on the board would do so as well.

Welcome Munjoyhill! Good job on gettting the rc for the tampons! Yes, unfortunately, one can write out a brilliant coupon scenario, but then a store is OOS (out of stock) of an item or two, so that throws everything off. I do find it challenging to change things on the fly. I've realized if I have to change things, I need to write out a new scenario, otherwise things get screwy. So, good job on forging on! In terms of your question of "How'd I do?" - - Part of the answer to this depends on whether you have stock at home. Based on your initial comment, I'm presuming you don't have extra laundry detergent or mouthwash at home, so you needed these items. So, there's a reality that when one is totally out of something, you just do the best you can with whatever sale or coupons one has at the moment. - For the future, if you are brand particular to All detergent, you'll want to hang onto All coupons and look for a sale to get a lower price. If you are not brand particular, you'll want to keep your eyes out just for a general great deal on detergent and stock up at that time. The same would hold true for your Act items. - If you are not familiar with the concept of a Price Book, check out the document I've attached. You'll want to get familiar with the "low" prices on your favorite and most commonly purchased items. - I think of hounding similar to working out. Most people who don't regularly exercise don't get up one day and run a marathon. You build up to it. So, as you said, you would previously have paid $29.46, versus today you spent only $13.87. You reduced your spending by more than half - that is great! We will encourage you to reduce even further Imagine how good that will feel?! P.S. Yes I am mildly jealous of your CVS/Wags/RA heaven. Lol. Enjoy it!

I was so excited for yesterday's hounding and it went great! Not everything went perfectly, and I'm going to share things exactly as they happened. I think it's important when we share the good & the bad, so we can all know that things going imperfectly is just part of life! I knew I had a BIG shopping day ahead of me, so I had everything written out and reminders to myself to take my time to make sure all my coupons came off. My first trip was to Wags. I think it was just a glitch at my Wags - every single item that was on sale did not have the sale prices in the system! However, I was very fortunate to get a good cashier who didn't wig out about this. He was aware of it and told me, and price modified everything. (Or so I thought - lol - more on that shortly.) Well, he & I were so focused on checking to make sure each item rang up at the sale price, I FORGOT to give him my Wags IVC on the Carefree last! Yeah, after Murpath and DebinWa were so kind to answer my questions the other day about the order to do this in. I can't believe I messed that up - lol! So, of course, all my Carefree q's beeped, but he did just manually enter them. Live & learn, right? Ok, so here's what my Wags trip looked like for purchases: (4) Pringles ($1.50 ea) = $6 (1) Miracle Whip = $2.49 (6) Carefree ($1.99 ea) = $11.94 (3) Dove Men's 6 pack bar soap ($6 ea) = $18 (1) Newspaper = $2 (1) Mycocide = $9.99 (1) ProClearz = $9.99* Total = $60.41*This is the item that had the wrong price. Less: (1) $3 IP Mycocide = -$(3.00) (6) Carefree .50 mq's = -$(3.00) (3) Wags IVC $3 (Carefree $3/2) = -$(9.00) (2) Pringles MQ $1 ea (P&G Everyday Savings Booklet) = -$(2.00) (3) Dove Men's MQ $4 ea (RP 6/26) = -$(12.00) (1) Miracle Whip MQ (SS 6/19) = -(.75) OOP =$30.66 *Last night when I was filling out the rebate form for ProClearz is when I realized I had been overcharged by $5. So I went back today & was given $5 cash. So my true OOP is $25.66.I received: $6 RR for Dove soap $2 RR for Pringles I have submitted: $9.99 Rebate for Mycocide $4.99 Rebate for ProClearz So, when all is said and done my net is $3.56 [$2.68 + (2*.44 stamps to mail the rebates]. Now, this is not an ideal transaction for those who are trying to keep their OOP as low as possible, unless you have RR's to roll. For me, I live in the test market for Wags, and we get very few RR's. I wanted these items that are free after mail-in-rebate, so I didn't mind fronting the money and then getting it back in a few weeks. Also, on one item, the Mycocide, I had that $3 IP. So I view that $3 as essentially covering my newspaper cost plus a little extra. So, for me, I feel like I paid just for the Miracle Whip & the Pringles, which was my intent, and both at prices I'm happy with.

After my Wags hound yesterday, I went to RA where I had a delightful time. RA purchases:
(1) Got2B Fat-Tastic Mousse = $4.99 (2) Crest w/Scope toothpaste ($2.69 ea) = $5.38 (6) StayFree pads (2/$5) = $15 (2) Secret deodorants (2/$5) = $5 (2) Excedrin ($1.99 ea) = $3.98 (6) Milky Way Dark (.99 ea & B1G1) = $2.97 (6) Three Musketeers (.99 ea & B1G1) = $2.97 SubTotal = $40.29 Less:RA Survey Q (My last one ) = -$(3.00) (2) Milky Way Dark IP's .50/2 (coupons.com) = -$(1.00) (2) Three Musketeers MQ's .50/2 (RP 6/26) = -$(1.00) (4) B2G1 Mars Candy MQ's* (Coupon Fairy) = -$(3.96) (3) B1G1 Stayfree MQ's (SS 6/26) = -$(7.50) (3) Stayfree MQ's $1 ea (SS 5/8 - THANK YOU BLUESCLUES!!!) = -$(3.00) (2) Excedrin VV's $1 ea (I was given 1 by someone) =-$(2.00) (2) Excedrin MQ's .75 ea (SS /5) = -$(1.50) (1) Got2B MQ (All You mag) =-$(2.00) (2) Crest MQ's .75 ea (P&G 6/5) = -$(1.50) (2) Secret Deod MQ's $1 ea (P&G Everyday Savings booklet) = -$(2.00) Total = $11.83Paid with (1) $10 UP (Sunglasses from prior week) & (1) $1 UP and .83 OOP.* Some of you know about the new (ugh) coupon policy at RA with the whole B1G1 free thing. However, these q's were B2G1, so I was hoping this would be totally ok, and it was! The Manager is the one who checked me out and he was MORE than happy to take these q's. However, I will add that I'm sure this is one of those YMMV situations.Received:(3) $2 UPs Stayfree = $6 (2) $1 UPs Excedrin = $2 (2) $2.69 Ups Crest = $5.38 (1) $2 Up Secret = $2 Total Ups = $15.38 Niiiice! Aaaaaand...
Have submited Got2B for $4.99 SCR.
Total profit = $8.54. Sweet!
