We have been bombarded with offers lately, but most have a 3 or 4 % transfer or purchase fee. Just got one from Chase with no fee. We have no CC debt, but is there anything not stupid that is worth it to play with this?
I even thought about kids student loans, that they are paying regularly, some at 6.8%.

I plan to do something like that once my DH is done with school, if I get a no transfer fee card with 0% for a year.

I did this several times and am hoping to see another opportunity soon. A couple times I just cashed it an put it in my account where I made 4%. Not much, but better than nothing. I also bought my washing machine and refrigerator that way. As long as you know you can pay it back in full and not be late on any payments there are a ton of things that would be "worth" it to me. ETA: The washing machine and refrigerator were both beyond repair. I'd been using a cooler for a refrigerator and washing clothes by hand in the bath tub for at least 6 months before I got this offer. I'd just got done with college where I was working 30+ hours a week and full time school, to full time, no more school, and a $6 an hour raise, so I knew I could pay it back. I also still had money in the EF, but I didn't want to touch it, since I was a single mom with a 3-year-old, no fridge and no washer did not constitute a true emergency. That 0% was awesome when I got it, and life is much easier with a washer and a fridge ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

I received this offer too. It came with two checks. I used one to pay for a repair on my house and the other to finish paying for a tour I'm taking to Panama in Sept. I have the cash to pay all of that but why not use their money for a year? My money is in a 4.6% checking account and 1.9% savings

I moved money from my HELOC to the Chase 0%, no fee, 11 month offer. I'm gonna be paying down/off the Heloc over the next 18 months or so, so I felt 'storing' some of the balance at 0% was well worth it. I will most likely transfer what ever is left on the Chase card back to the HELOC when the offer expires. The Chase account will have a way higher interest rate than the HELOC.
If I didn't have money I was paying to use (a loan) I'm not sure I'd bother to take advantage of the 0% offer - most safe investment (CDs, savings accounts) are at or under 1%. Not really worth it.

Katkuddler,
I'd move the money from savings to the checking account!

Not so exciting these days when rates for vehicle/HELOC loans and savings are so low. I guess for CC balance carriers it could be.

Our RV loan is 6.5%. Which is why are making double payments on it. I got a Chase 0% offer, but the 3% transfer fee would have been more than the remaining interest on the loan, so I passed.

I've used a couple 0% no fee offers recently. Just coming to the end of the first one--transferred the monthly spending + a little extra from my regular cards and put the cash into my 3% checking account. That one is almost done and I found an offer from Chase for 0% no fee on an existing card, so moved the balance over.
Then I got some interesting offers from Citi. Transfer a balance and get a 0% rate for BT and purchases until next May or August (two different offers). I used the enclosed checks to pay a couple bills in the $200 range because the BT has a 3%, $5 min. fee. Now I have 0% on purchases for a year+ for those cards. Plan to pay only the minimums until just before the rate expires, while putting the balance into my 3% interest checking.
My wife gets an offer for no fee 0% pretty much every month from the same bank I did my earlier BT with. With these other offers, we don't have any decent balances to transfer, so I'll just keep waiting until the Chase BT expires and see if they keep sending offers.
