The Palestine Information Center claims Egyptian foreign minister Nabil al-Arabi is studying a proposal to amend the 1979 Camp David Accords signed between Israel and Egypt. Arabi, who is slated to become the secretary general of the Arab League later this year, was the force behind Egypt's recent attempt to raise the price Israel pays Egypt for gas retroactively to 2008. Citing "senior Egyptian diplomats," PIC said Arabi has been overseeing a board of legal experts and diplomats for the past two months to study the Camp David accords and determine how Egypt and the Arabs can benefit from several items that have thus far been neglected. The sources said that Arabi is confident that the committee will succeed, even though the treaty was signed over thirty years ago. Observers suggest Arabi's review of the Accords is a second run at obtaining the gas price hike, which Israel has, to date, refused. One of the clauses that Arabi is reviewing, according to the sources, states the parties had agreed to set up a committee for mutual financial settlements. Arabi maintains this gives Egypt the right to receive the rate differentials in gas prices supplied to Israel during Mubarak's regime. The sources added that Arabi wishes to properly apply the treaty and not to terminate it, which runs counter to popular sentiment in post-Mubarak Egypt. Amending it, however, would necessitate Israeli consent. Polls suggest 54% of Egypt's citizens want the treaty with Israel canceled.www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/144519Who's to believe any new agreement made by this new government? With the newly named Freedom and Justice Party (the Muslim Brotherhood) gaining power for the same reasons Democrats gain power in this country, the Egyptian government is an entirely unknown entity.

Supposedly, Israel has found great quantities of natural Gas, major, major field, off their coast , their own territorial waters, enough to be a exporter. It doesn't come on line immediately, but they are working on it now, some back and forth between the foreign company and the rate of split , normal back and forth in these things, as to the financial split, but this is a proven serious find, so soon, they will probably be self sufficient regarding natural gas.
[Me thinks the good lord was holding this surprise back as a joke and finally said , "OK, enough already, like I would give my chosen a land with no energy sources..give it a rest already, just a little tease, they'll understand}
If they are looking for more $ from us..lots of luck guys, the cupboard is empty..possible they should call in some folks from Iran? ohhh, they are broke too?? Saudis?? ohhh , they aren't happy because of your treatment of Mubarak and friends?? mmmm. Possible some unfound treasure from the old Pharaohs, possible give shovels to all those unemployed and start digging??
One of the problems may be, if Egypt , while not breaking the treaty, don't think so unless they want to lose the cooperation of US militarily...is the Israeli's might have to reexamine their defense budget. Because of the holding of the treaty for the past 33 years, Israeli's were able to reduce defense spending from about 25% of their budget to a bit below 10 % and that is a lot of $. Their southern command, armor forces have degraded, though they have been enhancing them and bringing up to a better level recently. That will hurt them, financially.
