After Altercation, Philadelphia Police Say They Won't Look the Other Way on Open-Carry Gun Owners

The February incident wasn't the first time Philadelphia police officers have confronted Fiorino about his unconcealed gun. Since July, he has been stopped twice and he has had an audio recorder on him each time in case a cop is having a bad day or doesn't understand the law, he said.

His handgun was confiscated once for five months, but neither occasion escalated like the third encounter.

Fiorino said he studied Pennsylvania law for a year before he started openly carrying a gun. He said he carries the gun openly because some of his friends have been held up at gunpoint and he's not willing to allow himself to be helpless.

Police spokesman Evers said Fiorino appears to be inviting trouble from the law by "surreptitiously" recording his encounters with police.

I love the line inviting trouble by recording his encounters with police. Do police "invite" trouble with dash cams? How about taped interrogations?

Seems the police need to go back and study the laws that the swear to uphold an protect.

We are dealing with this issue in Wisconsin as well. Our previous Governor repeated stated that we did not need conceal & carry laws because WI. is an open carry state. Our Attorney General concurred. Yet the Milwaukee sheriff goes on the news and states that anyone seen carrying will be " taken down" on sight and checked out. Police have a bad tendency to interpret laws as they see fit.

I found this link recommended, several times, on a pro-gun type message board. It is a free download book. I just looked through it, and no harm to my comp at all.

Jar-- my home has always been pretty safe because of several cars here and people coming and going 24/7 as my kids have grown up, etc. You can bet your bootie if I am ever alone I will own a gun, and be prepared to use it. There IS safety in numbers, as long as people are law abiding, but there is NO WAY I will ever be a woman alone without a gun.

Click on the symbol once and then type in-between the center two "]['s". I would recommend doing it with each and then preview what it does. One thing you can do is if indicates a color, you can change the color by erasing it and typing a new color. The "Glow" you can make less intense by change the number. I have never tried to make it more intense. The AA for sizing you can make it bigger a "3" or small a "1". You can also use it when you quote stuff that appears at a "1" size and make it regular size ("2"). Don't miss the ^superscript and _subscript. You can combine things. I love the _{subscript-size 1 for super secret postings.}

I've been following this story for the past week and it's just pathetic. There are a lot of great cops in the city (the ones who work the stadium complex beat are the best!), but there are way too many bad seeds here who give the good ones a bad rep. I guess that goes for a lot of cities...

To answer your question, I guarantee that no one will face any repercussions. The cops used foul language on this guy and the DA is amped to press reckless endangerment charges . I'm not counting on anything rational with Philly cops.

Like in AZ when people say our cops would "racially profile" non white people IF they are ALLOWED to ask for ID--- even though most of our cops are non white by demographics of my part of the country. Sure SOME might, but maybe 1 out of hundreds is not an accurate picture to paint. Sure pizzes our Hispanic cops off..........

I guarantee that no one will face any repercussions.

They never do. They are immune from law suits and subject only to internal investigation by their peers. They can arrest anybody for anything and walk away "Tra la" secure in the knowledge that they are free and clear.
