ProBoards is the ONLY site where I consistently get this message. If it continues I will leave.
Am I the only one having this problem?

Is that a threat or a promise?

I'm running chrome, and I often have issues connecting, changing pages, etc. My messages don't come from Chrome, though. They come from Pro-Boards. Just in the last 2 or 3 weeks, it seems. It is frustrating.

Lakhota ~ have you cleared your cache and your cookies, and defragged? Sometimes those things can help.
Are you using Internet Explorer? If so, the latest version?
Is your ISP providing you a reliable signal?

Am I the only one having this problem?
It is a republican conspiracy.

I use IE8 and don't have any problems. Well, once I got a message but I think it said something about doing maintenance. Maybe you aren't holding your mouth just right when you surf

Nope - use firefox [i.e. the better web browser].

Is your ISP providing you a reliable signal? Yes to all the above. As I previously stated, ProBoards is the ONLY site where I experience this problem. Lately it has made it almost impossible to use this board.

Perhaps Republican operatives are molesting your internet connection, as well as making Warsaw and Dezi misspell every third word...

Nope - use firefox [i.e. the better web browser]. Okay, I switched to Firefox. Thanks for the tip. I'll see how things go.

Maybe I will install firefox, too. Chrome works better for me than IE9. I'll wait and see if Firefox fixes yours, Lak. Please post the results.

Question to anyone-- does installing new browsers do anything to your comp? Do they take up much space? AND, when the comp prompts to "would you like to make IE9 your default browser" etc, does it make a difference what you answer? Same question about google vs. bing.. if anyone knows. I have to be real careful not to get in some comp mess I can't get out of without professional help. Thx. (Yes, I am not real comp savvy..)

*does installing new browsers do anything to your comp? No
* Do they take up much space? FF is about 32 Megabytes, so not huge, no.
* when the comp prompts to "would you like to make IE9 your default browser" etc, does it make a difference what you answer? not really. it just means that if you open a link from an email, it will open in whichever browser you have selected to be default. same answer for your search engine (google/bing/yahoo)

krickitt, I hear you, but will default to someone more computer savvy than I. When I screw up all I have to do is call Dell; they take control of my computer and resolve the problem.
I corrected the above to read "Dell" - not "McAfee".

THANK YOU, MOON!!! Okay, Lak, please post one more time tomorrow at the height of board traffic and if Firefox is still working for you I will install it because that would indicate it is a browser problem rather than a Pro-Boards problem. Too lazy right now. My comp is new, so it shouldn't be a comp issue, and I clean out the junk every night before I go to bed. Or hit me with a PM if you would rather. Thx.

I'm not sure my favorites imported. Anyway, they'll still be on your other browsers. I'm not sure I like the amenities on Firefox; menu options, etc.

Krickitt, save your existing bookmarks, then after you install FF, go to bookmarks > show all bookmarks.. there should be a link to import your bookmarks from there ..

Took me FOREVER to learn Chrome, (LOL, A few days), but now I like it. MUCH faster than IE9. I upgraded from IE7 to IE9 and was lost, very different, so figured what the heck, lost anyway.. might as well try Chrome since it came installed on my comp along with IE7. I'm going to do Firefox right..........now......... unless someone posted something interesting.... or you, Lak, pizz me off or something..

I've already decided that I don't like Firefox, but won't delete it yet. I'll see if it grows on me...

I'm on it now. Figuring it out. Not so bad, but Chrome is MUCH faster, but FF seems smoother or something. I think I will switch back now and try FF tomorrow when (if) I start having problems with the board again in high traffic time. Got my favs from IE imported, but most of my favs are on Chrome.... can't figure out how to import to FF from chrome.. maybe I can import to IE from Chrome, then re-import to FF... LOL!!! I'm such a dummy on comps!!!
