I just wanted to say thank you to all the posters here, and especially to the administrators and whomever took the initiative to start up the boards again when MSN made the stupid decision to dismantle them. It took awhile to get used to the new format, but it's been more than worth it.
Over the past five years, I've learned more from this board than all of the personal finance books I've ever read combined, enjoyed some truly awesome discussions, gotten wonderful support on a daily basis, and made some great friends. It's an extraordinary resource, and I'm very grateful to have it. I've been randomly lurking on a particularly nasty message board lately, which makes me realize even more how lucky we are to have this one.
I recommend this board all the time to friends that are struggling with money, although to my knowledge none have taken me up on it so far. Oh well. Continue to fight the good fight.
I'm inclined to thank certain posters in particular, but I know I wouldn't remember everyone that I want to thank especially, so I hope this suffices.
Thanks, guys.

Does it make anyone wonder what happened to MSN? I haven't been back.

MSN just nuked the money forums. They still maintain several dozen other message boards on other parts of the website.
In true Microsoft fashion, they terminated the most informative and education forums on their entire site.
I go to msn.com only to check my hotmail, which is just junk mail, and the Lifestyle forums when I get bored.

Thanks to you too Firebird! I think we have an interesting bunch of people here who are (mostly) polite and get along pretty well.
I always enjoy reading your posts although I don't always agree with you.
Karma!

I'm very glad that MSN nuked the money forums. I strongly prefer this format!

I still do wonder why they got rid of the money boards.

These forums are much better run, and have a good group of moderators. I often wonder why MSN nuked to money forums but not the other forums. On the moderator forum, one of the other mods who thought he was God's gift to the forums(I think it was Tall_Guy), speculated the forums were being terminated because of the cost of maintaining them. The fool did not realize the web site had dozens and dozens of other forums that were not affected.

I prefer this format too! And it seems (most of the time) that people are a little closer & a little kinder here. (No wonder I try & visit every day!)

Thank you! Back at you, insmoneymaven ;D You gave me some really great advice on the old boards once. I wish I could remember what it was, but I know I followed it and it worked out really well for me.
So thanks for that too ;D Karma party!

Agreed! And thank you Firebird. You provide great feedback and I enjoy your posts. I like this format much better, and it does seem to be a kinder group (for the most part). I mostly lurked on MSN, I've probably posted more in 6 months here than I did for 5 years over there. Whether that's a good thing or not, the jury is still out!

I like this format better 95% of the time. today, I made my first regional update for the Northeast Racers, and wow. not seeing the smileys until I hit "preview" makes editing the regional list a bit difficult. that said, I love that I can find a smiley I like somewhere else online, and it can be available to me here in short order. I love the PM feature, and that you can search posts for content here. oh, and I love that most of us actually get along. I don't know that I ever would have met up with anybody else in person from the old boards, but I've done that since we moved. Fenway and the Green Monstah didn't know what hit 'em.

Ditto the OP. I've been lurking daily for four years or so and started posting a bit since the conversion. I've learned SO MUCH over the years and I really appreciate the time all the posters have taken to explain things. While I wish we were in a better financial position (don't we all) I know we are in a MUCH better financial position than we could have been if I hadn't found this board. Thanks everyone!

I never read any of the MSN Money forums except for the Tax Forum. I have learned so much since this forum started. Wish I had followed the old forums, but will stay here and learn from here.

I hardly even stop by msn.com anymore. With the new software format they are using it is so s-l-o-w. Even trying to check the stock market conditions takes forever to load up. But I bet they don't miss me.
