Sooo, Bush and Cheney are still running loose but John Edwards will be prosecuted. Okay...John Edwards Prosecution Given Go Ahead By Justice Department: Report (VIDEO) The U.S. Department of Justice has indicated that it will allow John Edwards to be prosecuted in an investigation into alleged campaign finance violations, North Carolina station ABC11 reports. According to the local outlet, the 2008 presidential candidate is expected to be indicted in the case. NBC News confirms that the Justice Department will permit prosecutors to file criminal charges against Edwards. WRAL News reported on Tuesday that the culmination of the probe was imminent. Sources told WRAL News on Tuesday that a major development would occur in the next two weeks. It could be an indictment or perhaps a plea deal. Sources said it's unlikely that prosecutors would walk away from the case. The AP relays background on the case: Edwards' mistress Rielle Hunter has sued former campaign aide Andrew Young to have a sex tape and other items returned to her. Young has said he helped cover up Edwards' affair during the 2008 presidential campaign and worked for months to keep Hunter in hiding. Edwards has admitted to the affair and fathering Hunter's child. She worked as a videographer in 2006 for Edwards' political action committee. WRAL reports: Former Edwards aide Andrew Young wrote in his tell-all book, "The Politician," that heiress Rachel "Bunny" Mellon gave Edwards a total of $700,000 as a gift. The so-called "Bunny money" helped fund the cover-up of Edwards' affair with video producer Rielle Hunter, who was pregnant with the former U.S. senator's child. Political observers have said the money was a campaign contribution and should have been noted in Edwards' campaign finance reports. ABC News' Jonathan Karl wrote on Twitter late on Tuesday night, "A source close to the case tells ABC Edwards is aware he is facing an indictment and is considering his options." Below, a report from ABC11 on the latest developments in the Edwards case: WATCH: www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/05/24/john-edwards-prosecution-_n_866584.html

Guess it all depends on what the Bunny lady says. Maybe she was in his stable.

Bunny is 100 years old. However, might be better than Rielle Hunter.

abcnews.go.com/Politics/john-edwards-investigation-feds-seek-recorded-testimony-rachel/story?id=12842178This says she gave $4,000,000 in campaign support towards Edwards, and another $700,000 in personal funds to him. Wonder if her kids are doing this?? If some old rich lady gave him a ton of money for personal use and he chose to use it being a dog-- where is the crime? A 100 YO witness? Geesh, wonder if she is going to have to submit to a medical eval? Plus, maybe she got angry at him for what he did, and turned on him. I mean, he makes me sick, but this sounds kind of weird. I'm actually more interested in who Blago is snitching on, and how deep the lies will go from them. Read he has Emmanuel testifying. Guess Obama is immune while in office or something. I'd follow that story, if I cared enough..

Blago should be careful with Rahm, or he could end up sleeping with the fishes.

Yeah, I remember thinking last year that Blago would be dead by this time this year... still kicking, even after the Chicago machine threw him under the bus.

What would you charge Bush and Cheney with? Careful with your answer- you're probably going to end up inadvertently suggesting we impeach Barry.

When I watched this years ago, I thought it made a strong case. A similar case would not be hard to make against the current administration. However, with the failure to bring a case against Bush/Cheney, impeachment of Obama by a Republican controlled House would be seen (justifiable so?) as a partisan attack. DOJ Gives Go Ahead to Prosecute John Edwards
Hate to admit one of my biggest political blunders was to vote for John Edwards in the CA Presidential Democratic Primary in 2008 and even tried to convince others on the P&M Message Boards that John Edwards was a better choice than Hillary Rodham Clinton.

I bet John Edwards will work out a plea agreement with the DOJ or will pay a fine to avoid going to trial...his big ego could not take a trial because of the huge risk he may be found guilty since he is persona non grata...
Don't forget in early 2008 Edwards was in #1 position in all the Democratic Polls even though there were rumors of his extra marital affairs with his co workers, as was Arnold Schwarzenegger which is just the way it is I guess??

I wonder if they would still prosecute him if he were black?

I wonder if they would still prosecute him if he were black? If they can't manage to prosecute a slam dunk like the New Black Panther voter intimidation case (with VIDEO evidence), there's little chance they can be competent in any case where race is a factor...
