Pre-presidential primary season is a great time for people as knowledgable as Rather and Matthews to kick around a lot of potential scenerios. I agree with them that Bachmann could score a couple of early primary victories. I would be interested in what Rather sees as her full path to the nomination. I don't see it looking at the 2008 results - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Results_of_the_2008_Republican_Party_presidential_primaries and looking for where she would do stronger than Huckabee.

If anything the Dem "machine" will try to cast favor on a candidate least likely to beat Obama.
