Did we lose MTL/Miller the Large? I was wondering how his house is/was!

He has not been around since we all moved here. He made have made a few posts, but I have not seen him.
Another well respected poster was MinnesotaGovGuy(MGG). And also Investor_Bob.
All three had brilliant minds, a lifetime of experience and intelligence. I've written to MGG a few times inquiring as to his where abouts. Never heard from him.

Yes - put a bag over his head, throw him in the trunk of your car, drive around the block 40 or 50 times, and then set him in front of the computer. "Post, damn you, POST!"

Yikes!
I actually have mixed feelings about this. I do miss MTL, but I think he probably could have found his way here if he wanted to.
But, maybe he missed the link when MSN was going away.
How you YOU feel if someone from an internet board stopped by?
Ding Dong!!!
"Mr. MTL, hi! I'm 2k10h from the internet... I'm here to come get you to start posting again... What's that? ER, no, I'm not a stalker... No, really! Sir? You really don't have to call the police. Really!"
Somehow, I don't think that's a conversation I really want to have.
Would dropping a note in his mailbox be less creapy? Or more so?
We all post here with the expectation some level of anonamousity. (Is that a word?) What would YOU do if I showed up on YOUR doorstep?
I'm not a creap or anything. (Well, I AM a REALTOR. Next to used car salemen and time share salespeople, we are considered the lowest of the low.) (Except lawyers, of course.)
Well, ok, there was a thread about a MSN Forum "family renunion". I never read it, but, still. That's different from some guy really showing up on your doorstep. What would you do?

Send a simple post card or letter, through the mail. Give your email for him to respond. Let him know that you will never bother him again, if he doesn't respond to the email.
Make it a little more elegant, but you get the jist.

Yeah that could get awkward... But maybe he'd be happy to know that he's missed? As Beth tries to put a positive spin on it...

MTL knows where this forum is and I think he made a few posts in the beginning. I had heard that he is not here on this forum and posting, because of the lack of intelligence in the area of finance, investing and personal money management. I can understand his feelings.

He shouldn't be so hard on himself. I know he didn't have financial acumen that some of us do, but he still had something to offer. Hope he returns.

Yeah, I think MGG was the guy who had a $700 or $800 a month payment on a duelly truck so he could haul his wife's horses around, which is fine if you can afford it, but that wasn't the impression I got from his posts.

Wasn't MTL the original "hookers and blow" and "slap 'em with a wad of benjis" guy? If so, he had plenty to offer!

So, SF, where else can we go for enlightenment on financial issues? Forums, etc. Where would MTL go?

swamp,
good one!
I don't know if you ever saw the old thread on the old MSN boards about how he wanted a particular house. He waited, waited, waited, then made an offer, and waited some more and finally got it.
I'm a REALTOR and it's my business to "know the market". I'm not going to tell you that I know about EVERY closing or real estate transaction, but I'm pretty good at figuring out what houses are worth, what's selling, what's not.
He did announce that the deal had closed. I also just happen to know that neighborhood. My father was born in a house either next door or a house or two down the street from MTL's.
I have not been by the house since MTL closed the deal. So, no, I'm not stalking him.

"He shouldn't be so hard on himself. I know he didn't have financial acumen that some of us do, but he still had something to offer. Hope he returns" LOL Archie, you are too funny! My guess is that he's being A LOT more productive without us. "Wasn't MTL the original "hookers and blow" and "slap 'em with a wad of benjis" guy?" Yep and the author of WALL STREET TALK Thread where you could only post only in capital letters. I'm probably easily entertained but I thought it was pretty funny. The interesting thing is that MTL was a big believer in index funds and asset allocation. He didn't think you could beat the market. Seeing how well the market has recovered since 2008 leads me to think he probably did very well. I never saw him post here. I remember him saying that he would migrate to the "B" site. What was it? Bunch, Bing??? I understand how he could be put off by the politics and market crowd with their shiny tin hats but he could have fun over at the Start Investing group. 2kids, it would be a trip if you addressed a note to Miller the Large: THE REFUGEES NEED WALL STREET TALK. WE MISS THE SOUND OF SLAPPING BENJAMINS!!! notmsnmoney.proboards.comI think he would find it funny and at least drop in for a bit. ;D

MGG-hated government, hated California therefore "Brilliant". And I-Bob had little I-Bob so he's probably busy too. Unlike us "slackers".

"Um, didn't MGG work for the government?" Yep. But I think he was looking to get out. Some folks really can't take it. It is a different world. I know I earned my chipped teeth and bruises the hard way!
