left a green bean casserole in the oven for a week? and baked things, and wondered what that awful smell is? They were way up high. I didn't see them and I didn't even know what in the**** they were when I found them. I'm a little worried about the new year.

LOL, LOL, LOL
I can't say I have left something in the oven but I've left the water bowl in the smoker after some pork shoulders. It was pretty ugly when I did find it.

Thank you. It has been a "brain dead" weekend for me. Hope not the whole year.

Hah - I left a lasagna in the oven for a week (but didn't bake anything else that week). I guess if I was more of a cook I would have noticed them earlier

I haven't done that yet, but I do cook everyday so the chances are a little less for me What does happen is something gets pushed back in the refrigerator and it isn't pretty when I find it...

Years ago when DH and I were living together in an apt. we had to store a large sheet cake in the oven as it wouldn't fit in the frig. I forgot it was in there and when I went to heat the oven for dinner the box caught on fire. LOL!!!

I get the pushed back in the fridge stuff too -- particularly underneath the cold cut drawer on the bottom shelf -- totally invisible spot unless I'm looking for something there.

Once upon a time I did one of those "soak the beans in water overnight" things and put the container in the oven. Where we found it a few days later. In the summer in South Texas. Nuff said. We went into the witness protection program when we sold the house.

When I was growing up we used to give my Mom a bad time about Coffee in the microwave 9 days old. This was sung to the tune of Peas Porridge Hot, Peas, Porridge Cold. She was always putting her coffee cup in the microwave to warm it up a little and then forgetting it.

No, haven't had that happen. A couple times though I had a frozen dinner in the oven too long because I fell asleep. Luckily it only burnt to a crisp.

Wow that must have smelled bad enough to warrant opening the windows and doors in the freezing cold! I have found things in the back of the fridge that looked like they were starting their own ecosystem though.

I have found things in the back of the fridge. DH isn't allowed to have fresh fruit anymore after the last time. He didn't eat it and it ended up pushed to the back of the fridge for several weeks. Ever smelled a rotten apricot?

I've managed to produce some interesting mold cultures from my fridge. Most recently, I had a freshly cut up pineapple that I forgot I had cut up. It got pushed to the back of the fridge and when I cleared stuff out for Thanksgiving, I missed it.
I found it when I cleaned the fridge out for leaving at Christmas. I never bothered to clean the Rubbermaid container up, I just tossed the whole thing into the dumpster.

LOL!!! > Along those lines I had bread rising in the oven when my ex turned the oven up to 350F for something she was going to make. The yeast didn't make it

We forgot about a turkey breast that we were bbq overnite. We had 2 bbq's going that evening. Luckily, it ran out of gas and we had inedible turkey jerky. I once put a plate of leftover food on top of my car for lunch at the office as I was getting ready to go. Totally forgot about and being on the short side didn't see it. Got a couple of beeps and then I remembered I had leftovers and wondered where the heck it was and realized it was on top of the car. Whoops!

I've found some pretty wicked "science projects" in our fridge from time to time. GROSS!!!

Funny. Normally threads like this talk about marinating BBQ in everything from bong water to mouthwash. Or both!!
