We have had some flubs, some twisted tongues, and some outright dumb things said by our recent presidents, side-kicks and wannabees. No wonder Obama wants a teleprompter everywhere he goes. Here are 10 chances to see if you can remember who said what. 6 right is considered passing. Get all ten for a karma. 1) "Let me be absolutely clear. Israel is a strong friend of Israel ’s." A. Barack Obama B. Dan Quayle C. Sarah Palin D. George W. Bush
2) "I have made good judgments in the past. I have made good judgments in the future." A. Barack Obama B. Dan Quayle C. Sarah Palin D. George W. Bush
3) "On this Memorial Day, as our nation honors its unbroken line of fallen heroes, and I see many of them in the audience here today." A. Barack Obama B. Dan Quayle C. Sarah Palin D. George W. Bush
4) "What they'll say is, 'Well it costs too much money,' but you know what? It would cost, about. It it it would cost about the same as what we would spend. It. Over the course of 10 years it would cost what it would costs us. (nervous laugh) All right. Okay. We're going to. It. It would cost us about the same as it would cost for about hold on one second. I can't hear myself. But I'm glad you're fired up, though. I'm glad." A. Barack Obama B. Dan Quayle C. Sarah Palin D. George W. Bush
5) "The reforms we seek would bring greater competition, choice, savings and inefficiencies to our health care system." A. Barack Obama B. Dan Quayle C. Sarah Palin D. George W. Bush
6) "I bowled a 129. It's like - it was like the Special Olympics, or something." A. Barack Obama B. Dan Quayle C. Sarah Palin D. George W. Bush
7) "Of the many responsibilities granted to a president by our Constitution, few are more serious or more consequential than selecting a Supreme Court justice. The members of our highest court are granted life tenure, often serving long after the presidents who appointed them. And they are charged with the vital task of applying principles put to paper more than 20 centuries ago to some of the most difficult questions of our time." A. Barack Obama B. Dan Quayle C. Sarah Palin D. George W. Bush
8) "Everybody knows that it makes no sense that you send a kid to the emergency room for a treatable illness like asthma, they end up taking up a hospital bed, it costs, when, if you, they just gave, you gave them treatment early and they got some treatment, and a, a breathalyzer, or inhalator, not a breathalyzer. I haven't had much sleep in the last 48 hours." A. Barack Obama B. Dan Quayle C. Sarah Palin D. George W. Bush
9) "It was interesting to see that political interaction in Europe is not that different from the United States Senate. There's a lot of I don’t know what the term is in Austrian, wheeling and dealing." A. Barack Obama B. Dan Quayle C. Sarah Palin D. George W. Bush
10) "I've now been in 57 states I think one left to go." A. Barack Obama B. Dan Quayle C. Sarah Palin D. George W. Bush

Some K, your way ,Henryclay. That's almost poetry. They say ignorance is bliss. President Barack Obama, a man I deeply admire, is the most bliss human alive today.

Sheesh, Magic, I'd think a poster who's forum ID is a micro-brew beer would at least have a sense of humor.

Well, it looks like either nobody is interested or nobody remembers. It’s hard to tell when nobody’s even trying. That seems to leave just me and you, magichat. You got the right answer okay, all the quotes are Obama mutterings, but I can’t award a karma because you said you didn’t even read the post. You threw one dart for a catch-all answer and it was just a lucky a guess.
But you do deserve another chance. Here’s a toughie. I’d read it through and think about it before throwing any more darts. It’s worth a karma if you get it right.
Who said this? “I’m not a part of the problem, I’m a Democrat.”
A. George Bush B. John McCain C. Newt Gingrich D. Al Gore

desi's playing games with your brain, magichat. I believe I'd take my own chances, never mind the "help". He's had all day and never made a track until there was a opening to cheat you out of a karma. Of all the people on the boards, look who you have to thank.
Sorry, but with desi it's a "thing", you see. I guess he's just "like" that. Feels the need to draw attention to himself, maybe?
Of course you "could" just throw desi a curve and skip the thread altogether. But that's be slamming another liberal, so it might not be the choice of choices after all.
Sort of a conundrum, huh?

Without even reading the post, based on the poster I bet they are all A. How stupid. Sadly Henry believes this is true. "You threw one dart for a catch-all answer and it was just a lucky a guess." I know I shouldn't have opened the thread since it was Henry's. I thought maybe he'll put one of the many funny George Bush sayings in before I opened it and then I remembered its Henry. Ain't gonna happen.

Krickitt, is this thread not titled quiz on quotes from people in high places? Unlike Henry I've used a few different people.

Who said this?
Secularists are wrong when they ask believers to leave their religion at the door before entering into the public square. Frederick Douglas, Abraham Lincoln, Williams Jennings Bryant, Dorothy Day, Martin Luther King - indeed, the majority of great reformers in American history - were not only motivated by faith, but repeatedly used religious language to argue for their cause. So to say that men and women should not inject their "personal morality" into public policy debates is a practical absurdity. Our law is by definition a codification of morality, much of it grounded in the Judeo-Christian tradition.

Krickitt, you were correct about that quote. Here is the expanded version.
"Let me start off by saying that in 2000 I said, 'Vote for me. I'm an agent of change.' In 2004, I said, 'I'm not interested in change --I want to continue as president.' Every candidate has got to say 'change.' That's what the American people expect." --George W. Bush, Washington, D.C., March 5, 2008
Remember I think Bush and Obama are almost the same as the Presidency goes. I don't bash Obama as I am disappointed in him and I rarely complained about Bush on MSN.

Sigh I had some great quotes I was building a post with but Norton flaked and hung my browser.
I had one from Gore that sounded like Bush. Something about a zebra can't change its spots to one from Johnson that if he walked across the Potomac River the newspapers would report "President can't swim."
b2r, tried googling part of the quote but came up with nothing close.

Opt, try this for an insight into the circumstance behind the quote. Though there should be several, I can't give you a web link. , , , sorry. A story goes that Socrates, when pronounced the wisest of men by the oracle at Delphi, earnestly set out to investigate the truth of this claim. He interrogated poets, craftsmen, politicians and other 'wise men'. After investigating, his conclusion certainly didn't help him win friends among them:
And by Dog gentlemen! my honest impression was this: it seemed to me ... that the people with the greatest reputations were almost entirely deficient, while others who were supposed to be their inferiors were much better qualified in practical intelligence ... it was not wisdom that enabled [the poets] to write their poetry, but a kind of instinct or inspiration, such as you find in seers and prophets who deliver all their sublime messages without knowing in the least what they mean ... I also observed that the fact they were poets made them think that they had a perfect understanding of all other subjects, of which they were totally ignorant ... [even craftsmen] seemed to share the same failing ... this error more than outweighed their positive wisdom ...
[after meeting a politician] I reflected as I walked away: Well, I am certainly wiser than this man. It is only too likely that neither of us has any knowledge to boast of; but he thinks that he knows something which he does not know, whereas I am quite conscious of my ignorance. At any rate it seems to me that I am wiser than he is to the extent, that I do not think that I know what I do not know.****
